Morning all.

37F and cloudy @ 06:00 ... supposed to have a high of 61 degrees today.

Wife reports that the wood furnace kept the house at 68F overnight ... she sounded impressed ... lol ...

Got the loader bucket moved inside onto the sawhorses and got most of the grinder gouges and holes welded up yesterday ... the welds need ground off flush and then the QA plate can be welded on. Had to cut off the Kubota bucket level indicator due to clearance issues.

Also got the gouges in the bucket brackets welded up ... just need to grind and clean them up and then we'll be ready to put the tractor-side SSQA together. After that's done - which ought to be pretty quick - the solid SSQA plate can be used to build the shrub bucket.

Might have UB work on upgrading the Woods pallet forks and prepping it for an SSQA plate. The forks have a backstop made out of 1/4" x 2" flat stock to prevent whatever is being carried from falling back onto the tractor/operator ... it's not as tall as I'd like ... so extending it by another foot would be my preference.

After all that, it will be back onto the root rake/grapple. Think we should have it mostly put together and ready to measure for the hoses by Monday.

Drew,

Very tempting stuff there at the nursery ... I always find the end of the season clearance specials hard to resist. But then, why try ? :D

55 with 74 this afternoon. Beautiful sunrise now, but rain in the forecast all weekend.

This is the weekend for the Richmond Folk Festival - music from all around the world on 7 stages across acres along the banks of the James River...usually 200,000 people attend over the 3 days. We always go, and I hope the rain doesn't keep people away. Usually I avoid crowds, but this is a special experience.

Probably get some mowing and a little carpentry done before the rain hits this afternoon.

Nah ... she needs the practice ... lol ...

I will however buck the logs I have stacked up out in the field and bring 'em down to the house ... assuming I can get the nephew to meet up so I can borrow his (new) Stihl saw ... :D

Mine seems to have grown legs ...

Was supposed to hook up with him to pick it up this past Wednesday ... never heard a word ...

Otherwise I'll have to break down and actually service the Makita saw that Pineridge gave me that's sitting over in the polebarn ... and Lord knows what that will end up entailing.

56 degrees going back to 82 today in clear weather. Then the outlook for the next week is a bit wetter than this last very dry week here.
Am glad of the dry weather; the gutters finally got on yesterday after waiting a month. The insulation is going into the crawlspace, the hallway floors are ripped up waiting for a new oak "engineered" floor to go in hopefully today. Ripping up wood floors sure makes a mess, and now they tell me they have parts of the underlayment they have to sand. Good things all the rooms here have pocket doors, but the dust still comes through the bottom. Every day with the vacuum....but progress is being made.

This mess and disorder is beginning to get me down. Have to keep my eye on the prize.

The roses are planted in the rose garden and I'm making up a second order from J&P.
Went to a local nursery about four miles away down the same street I'm on, down an incredibly long dirt lane full of potholes, junkyard dogs, wasn't sure I should have gone down there half way down the lane, but glad I did. At the end was an super messy old landscape nursery with about a dozen different type trees, most in nice shape. Full size crepe mytles for ten bucks. Huge crepe myrtle trees for thirty bucks. Dogwoods for ten dollars. Boxwoods for six dollars. Kind of hard not to go nuts in there. Might have to bring back my trailer and stock up. Nothing like a end of season clear em out sale to get me over enthused. And I love to plant.

went out the night before the lunar eclipse, warm night, just walked around with my camera wondering if it would take a pic at night. Well....

And if they are laying down a floor today, I need a very good reason to stay outside. Hard to listen to all that banging. and for your smile of the day, check out the guy standing on the top of his stepladder wearing a company tshirt that shouts out Be Safe....

Dang, Drew. You are really giving that place a makeover. Rose bed looks nice. I envy the green grass around it. Guess that's what color grass is supposed to be?

<snip>Crew of three plus the boss. One black. One hispanic. One white.
All been with him over ten years. Nice bunch of guys. Steady workers, not in much of a rush, just getting the job done so they finish by the end of the day... Their boss is one of the first people I met at the local cafe, and when he heard I had a broken pipe the first time, he took it on himself to come fix it, for the new guy. Never did get a bill for it. And he was such a genuinely nice guy, and yes a Woolard, one of the local families, that he sure got the call when I needed more work done.
And he's told me who to stay away from in that little cafe too...invaluable info.
Be cautious of those who tell to "stay away" from some one. Hidden agendas may be lurk.

So I looked around carefully. Clean dirt, not rock, so I figured I was ok. I had a vision of one of them up underneath that bridge dropping down on me. Lovely thought huh?
Just be sure to keep the cell phone HANDY so WHEN you get bit you can call.

At that point I just laughed ... and told her if she was feeling frisky to come on down ...

C'mon was it the furnace that kept her warm?:)

Yup!

Drew - be careful, as one who often "pushes the boundaries" keep a cell phone HANDY. So when that bridge timber or a rattler drops on you the phone is reachable and you can call.

RS - there's more than one way to keep a wife warm. But pregnancy ends up costing a lot ;)

Morning all, 43F here heading to 58F. The kitchen appliances arrived yesterday and I got them hooked up last night. Of course had to go out and buy new installation kit as the old hose don't work on the new dishwasher.
