Good morning! What is wrong with these people? Saturday was 105˚ at the start of serving food at the VFD fish fry. We had record crowds in the cow field. Enough money was raise in 4 hours to sustain the FD for another year, (maybe for 2 years). If the attendance would have been less we could change the date to balmy November. The killer day was yesterday picking up everything up in the heat with just a handful of people, glad it's over for another year.

Another hot day, 102˚ predicted. today is our 18th day of triple digits this year.

Good Afternoon. 1345, sunny, 87F with 54% humidity. Forecast high of 89F with 0% chance of rain today, and a low of 68F tonight. The cool weather I have been hearing about has finally made it down to NW Florida. Yesterday when I ran to the store, the car said it was 100F. Weather Underground had a much cooler 97F posted. It might have been somewhere in the middle. I have walked over to Mamma's a couple of times, and it was very pleasant out. Hope it hangs around a day or two.

Tomorrow is Election Day here, and the Civic Center is a polling place. My boss said that tents and signs were already going up when she got to work at 0800 this morning. It is a circus coming down the drive, with all the sign wavers. We don't let them politic in the parking lot, even though 100' is the law. We view it as a safety issue, and since we are a private, not for profit, we can do what we want.

Have a food one!

At 3:30pm it's 93 heat index 108. To humid and hot for much out in the sun. Saturday felt worst got to 92 heat index 112. Where did fall go? We hadn't had a summer to talk about until past week. Oh well next week is September. Maybe ma nature will remember to start cooling back off.

Lasted until 16:30 or so ... now it's time for a nap.

Got to use the pipe rollers for grinding some bevels ... worked like a charm - singled-handed the grinder with my right hand and turned the pipe with my left.

It would be totally killer if it were motorized.

The lawn is between 2.5 and 3 acres, the field is around 3.5 to 4.5 acres. The zero-turn mows the lawn faster and definitely does a nicer job cutting...the field is pretty flat, but a bit rough...tractor and RFM does a better job. My neighbor mows his part of the field with his zero-turn (another Deere...bit more HP then mine), but it's beating the heck out of his mower...I'm not going to do that. Use the proper tool for the job.

I agree with you on the right tool for the job. But, with that said I do mow the hill on the side of our yard with either my ride on mower or the zero turn mower. Using the tractor and bush hog is just too difficult to use on the hill. By the way have you started the new job?

Made it to 90F this afternoon. Warm weather for picking rocks and the field is getting dusty too.

74F now, mid 80's next two days.

Have a "food" one, that slipped by. Ya know f & g are side by side. :laughing: I almost never eat before 10am, usually closer to noon if I'm busy with something. Just don't care about food in the morning. I do make up for lost time however.

By the way have you started the new job?

Yeah...first day today. I bring a lot to the table and the company does need it. They’re AS 9100, but they got a few hard hits on their last audit. The Quality Manager doesn’t have a Quality background (more engineering) and doesn't particularly like working in QC/QA.
It'll probably be a good fit. The "honeymoon" was quite short and I prefer it that way...
