Good morning! 79˚ heading to 101˚. The 10 day forecast now shows a cold front will be here in 10 days to drop the temperature to a chilling 97˚!:cool2:

We are transforming the cow pasture :cow: down the road into a 5 star outside (tent) restaurant where 1,200 people from central Tx will converge.

Our VFD menu: Fried Catfish, Potato Salad, Hushpuppies, Beans, (tea included). You fill your own plate so everyone goes away full.

This has always been the communities last event of summer before school starts. That's the only reason I can figure why the event is on one of the hottest weekends of the year. It's an evening meal and we will have a bunch of large cooling fans to make it feel like Fall. Adding the music and beer and two acres of lights the ambiance feels festive.

Too bad we're 1,500 miles away. I'd love to dig into this meal and bet the folks there are great!

Don, is this on Saturday? I will be in College Station on Saturday. Not sure when we'll be back. 5 star might be a stretch, unless you all are adding those LED tea lights this year. :) I too wish they'd move the date to November.

Good evening all. 72F this morning, made it to 89F sunny this afternoon, forecast was for 98. Had a heavy duty thunderstorm move through tonight. Got a good chunk of mowing done, got the ride in, ad got some errands done this morning. Checked the new flashing for leaks during the rain - no leaks :)
Rainfall was .8 in in less than an hour.

...David/Sodamo: I would think galvanized or aluminum would be the way to go. I have plastic coated horse fencing at my new home, no maintenance there. Maintaining steel near salt water is quite a challenge; lots of prep work/priming. But if it's what you've got...I bet those bolts rust up in another five years. How long did these last?

I agree. Slow learner here :( we've already gone thru multiple pieces of steel patio furniture - all same results. Now we only get aluminum or plastic.
Here is a sample of what the fence panels looked like:

These were the steel fence from Lowes. Lasted about 5 years counting the extra year of function I got adding the poly tube top and bottom. All the rot seemed to come from the welded areas, both top and bottom and the stiles rusted from the welds upwards.

Fortunately, the tall posts are in excellent condition, no structural rust and very very little surface rust. I used the rust converter primer then just rattle can black. Look pretty good. Can start new installation tomorrow.

65 degrees going up to mid 80's today, and finally, maybe, some rain tonight. We really need it; things are turning brown. Normal August...

need to work on a utility trailer today, my older one that I replaced with a different solid sided trailer.
Need to rustfix it, and then use a couple cans of black Rustoleum on it, and then take it to the local dealer who will sell it on consignment for me. 7x14, some lawn mowing folk will buy it. Anyone in the mid atlantic want a utility trailer very cheaply?...

55F now, upper 70's today with high humidity and chance of rain this afternoon.

I noticed the air got pretty sticky yesterday afternoon, I guess that is hanging around.

I need to update the pics of the field project today and pickup a few rocks. I think I will focus on larger rocks today that are popped up with the backhoe and scooped into the FEL bucket. That will give my back a break.
