72 degrees and sunny @ 12:30 ... headed up to a high of 80.
Having my first cup of the day.
Dropped the bucket at the shed before removing loader yesterday. Worked for maybe about 45 minutes or so with the angle grinder on cutting the brackets off ... doesn't seem like it will be too bad ... but then they're not off there yet.
Wife cut the lower half of the front lawn ... blew a bunch of the grass onto the driveway (which is crusher run) ... so I sez:
"Why in the world would you do that ?"
Her reply:
"I don't know ..."
Yeah, me neither ... :confused2:
Finished assembling the pipe jig, and filed away more manuals and equipment literature ... just a little left to do on that. Ordered another 112 drawer dividers for the small parts storage cabinets. Got some for the larger drawers this time around.
Ordered a 1/2" air line, fittings, and quick coupler from McMaster-Carr, to connect the air compressor to the fixed piping ... would have preferred a 3/4" connection, since the copper line I'm plumbing into is 3/4" ... but the outlet fitting on the compressor is only 1/2" NPT ... and it's a big honkin' adapter fitting (1 1/4" NPT ---> 1/2" NPT) and I didn't want to screw with trying to take that out of the tank to replace it. Besides, the cost on a female 3/4" quick coupler was kinda pricey ($27+) and 1/2" was half the cost.
Also ordered the correct hold-down clamp for the bandsaw ... and that whole deal shows why McMaster-Carr is such a great company to deal with. While they are pricey on some things, their customer service is just outstanding.
I originally planned to pickup this order as a Will-Call in Aurora ... but the air hose was in stock at the Chicago warehouse. So the CS rep offered to ship that directly to me at home (with delivery on Monday) and I could Will-Call the rest of the order in Aurora. So I asked what would be the cost to just ship the entire order here to the house ... she says around $8 ...
For that price, it just isn't worth me spending an hour and half of my time driving 30 miles to go get it, to say nothing of the fuel cost. Then she asked
"Ok, what was the item that you wanted to return ?" (I had explained to her initially that I had one item that I had mistakenly ordered that was wrong - ie. the hold-down clamp for the bandsaw)
So I told her what it was, and she located it on my previous order and said
"How about if I just go ahead and credit your account ... and you can keep the (wrong) clamp ..."
My reaction was
"Wow ... really ? ... Sure ... and thanks ..."
Apparently not worth their time and effort to get an $8 part back and restock it.
Went thru last night and forced myself to finish cleaning the plastic storage cabinet that is used to store chemicals and parts (filters, etc) and put away all the cans and jugs of stuff that lives in there. This is a cheap Black and Decker all-plastic cabinet that is about 6' tall and a couple of feet wide. The shelves are not capable of supporting much weight at all without bowing ... so I cut some small angle that originally came from the metal shipping frame that my Farm Pro/Jinma
chipper came in and used that to reinforce the shelves. Seems to have mostly solved that problem ... and it is nice to get all the jugs and cans that were lying around and sitting on the floor put away.
Dug into a crate of rusty tools that were sitting by the bench grinder to be wire wheeled and wiped them off ... not sure what all of this stuff is - some of it was my Grandfathers ... think there might be some masonry hand drills and splitting wedges for rock. At least one of the tools was engraved with the words "Blue Line" ...
There's one nice reamer in there ... unfortunately it's not a 1" one ... which would have been handy for sizing and cleaning up mounts for pins.
Wire wheeled one set of pliers and cleaned them up, since the wife is always complaining that she can never find a set when she needs one.
Will probably have to run over the lawn today ... it's lookin' pretty clumpy where the wife cut it ... probably about 5 days late on that ... it may need picked up ... and the rain is heading in tonight or tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a productive day (or not, if you so choose

)
