71 with 91 on tap. All the thunderstorms missed us yesterday. So, now thinking we need a small shower. Sodamo - beautiful place. Sounds neat to hear someone actually planting coconut trees. Drew - good luck with the colored dot system - sounds like a good idea. I don't envy what you have ahead of you, but it will be worth it. Got a tentative move date, yet?

Thanks.
To be honest, I wasn't thinking it was so neat about have way thru the weedwacking. Seems the grass sure liked the fertilizer I put around them.

So, how often do you mow there?

Also, how are grass skirts mowed?

Good Morning. 1145, sunny, 87F with 77% humidity. Forecast high of 88F with 39% chance of rain this afternoon, and a low of 72F tonight. I was out looking at the gourds earlier, and we had a passing shower. Just a few sprinkles really. There are a few showers over near Destin, and coming this way, but I don't plan on working outside anyway, so let it rain. I'm watching USA vs Germany. Go USA!

I went in to work yesterday to setup for tonight's event. I went to supper, and did this and that, putting off setting up the tables and 200 chairs until about 1900. I had just got started when the lights begin the flicker, then some of them went out. I walked over to the breaker box to turn on more lights, when there was a big boom, and all the lights went out. Since it was after hours, I called the police department, and they got in touch with the city workers on call. It was getting darker all the time, so I set out the tables as fast as I could. I heard the boom truck out front, and could see the light shining up in the top of a tall pine. A few minutes later they cranked up a chain saw so I walked out to see what was going on. A limb off the pine tree had fallen across all the power lines. The limb was about 30 feet long and 18 inches across. It was still hanging on the tree, but just barely. They tied it off where it was broke, about 60 feet above the ground, then came back down and started cutting the limbs off the lines. It took them a good 45 minutes, and there was a big pile of limbs when they were through. A few minutes after that, I had lights again. When I told them I was sorry to get them out at night, all they said was, "overtime." But they were troopers, and Blountstown is lucky to have such good workers. By the time I got my tables out, covered in paper and the chairs put around them, it was 2200. A longer day at work than I had planned.

Hey Dave
Seems this year, not as often as we should, but it does vary anywhere from 2 weeks to a month, sometimes more depending on the rain/sun combo. Kinda crazy in a way, but we have the property kinda mentally divided into smaller areas with names appropriate for each. Works for us in that if I say I'm going to mow the drive, wife knows I mean the areas alongside the outside the fence drive from our gates to the county road. What you see all started as overgrown pasture that resulted from the abandonment of sugarcane. Wouldn't meet city folk definition of lawn. Interestingly, yesterday I met the new owners of the adjoining 20 acres. They bought the house in Feb and this was first rip over from LA. Grass is over 3 ft tall and they are clueless. I did suggest the hire another neighbor with a tractor and flail to keep it knocked down for them.

Grass skirt mowing? hmmm, I believe the French method still prevails :)

Interesting, thanks. Sharon and I have names for places and trails around our lot too. It's the only way to talk about something that we both understand where it is.

Great day.
Finished my mowing. Yeaaaaa
At urging of my dear sweet wife, I went over to the new neighbors, gave them a 10 minute tutorial on their solar electric system, managed to get their generator running and then mowed a couple of hours so now they might be able to tackle with a lawn mower and weedwacker. Got some fresh picked papaya and permission to gather fruit when they aren't here. (did offer me money for fuel, but that wouldn't be neighborly to accept)

Looks like the rain has passed. The hay field...I mean my lawn(!)...needs mowing badly. That's my weekend chore.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 55° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 82° with sun and a few floating clouds. Off to PT again this morning. Had to put lawn mowing off until today. Neighbor needed some help yesterday afternoon.
Good Morning All.
