Upper 80's again today. Clouds build up off and on, but never gather into a storm. We could use some rain.
300, I never manage to visit my Mom without 2-3 HD visits. There always some little things to fix, repair, maintain. I usually add some mulch, compost and peat to her little flower garden area too when I'm there. There's also the Walmart stop where I stock her up on heavy and bulky stuff that keeps well. Saves her bringing it home and unloading from the car.
The minisplit units have been running since about noon today. The initial indications are very good. The house cooled down and best of all, there is not one drop of sweat on the toilet tank that is always dripping wet in this sort of weather. I think/hope they will do a good job of curing our condensation issues. They run very quiet.
These Mitsubishi units have a "Keep Dry" setting. They run continuously for the purpose of de-humidification with minimal cooling. We ran the 18K btu unit in cooling mode for a couple hours, then set it to dry mode. We left the 12K btu unit in cool mode. I am surprised how the cooling effect reaches throughout the house. It's not a big house but I presumed we would have warm areas where there is no direct air circulation.
Well, we obviously have much to learn yet about how these behave, how best to set them, and how much power they use. The control is done with a remote about the size of a TV remote control. Of course, the two remotes are different with a slightly different variety of settings.
