Will do. I am very ignorant about AC, it's not a big thing up here. This will be the first time in my life having AC in a house. I've never had a window AC unit even. That's how little I know about it. :)

I do know the minisplits are much easier to install on an exterior wall, we just don't have good location for that in our house. All they need is a roughly 3" hole through the wall, a 220v 20A power feed to the outdoor unit, and somewhere for the condensate water to drain. I think they usually just let it drip on the ground. They have half-round vinyl covers and weather heads to sort of dress-up the lines exposed on the outside. Realistically, those are never going to be a beauty mark.

There are ceiling flush-mounted "cassette" units that have small pumps to lift the condensate to a drain line. That didn't sound very good for us, I don't really want a drain line in the attic that can freeze, leak, etc., or rely on a pump. You just know that eventually, there will be an issue. There are also multiple head units where something like four indoor units are sharing one outdoor unit.

People here say they are great and very efficient, and they like the dual AC-heat capability. My installer friend says he rarely has to go on a repair call for the Mitsubishi units they sell and install. He also says the refrigerant lines air purge and charging is very critical on these units. He does a double nitrogen purge and pulls the lines down to under 500 microns before charging the refrigerant which should be accurate to the ounce calculated by actual copper line length? He used a portable digital scale for the pink tank. That is all Greek to me. He attended a Mitsubishi training session.

I had a 3 inch hole bored thru my outside wall for our A/c unit. They covered up the hole with a plastic thingy. A week later, my cats are huddled around the utility room door, and they started bringing us mice, inside. Yuck! I took the cover off, and the installer's didn't foam in or do anything to fill the gap between the a/c lines and the sides of the hole. Plenty of room for the mouse brigade to infiltrate!! I called the company to complain, but that went nowhere. Never called them for anything again, or reccommend them to anyone either. That's how I roll!!

I don't blame you. Mine need some caulking between the vinyl siding and the weatherhead that covers the hole. I looked at that yesterday, it's not a tight enough seal with just the screws. Plus it is open to the bottom anyways where the lines run. I figure I always need to go around and put the final touches on stuff after everything is done and tested out. Sometimes because it really needs it, and sometimes just because I'm ****. :D

The little meeses think of those insulated lines as a super highway! I used that expanding foam stuff. No more cats with dead mice. Even worse was when the big cat brought us a live one. Just what I wanted on my bare foot...

I'll bet that soft insulation does work fine for the mice. I have a couple cans of Great Stuff foam for windows and doors. That shouldn't bulge the plastic covers as it expands.

I was told by the tax office when ever I trade in a vehicle always keep the license plate. Does everybody do this, this was the first I have heard of it, but it make sense. At least that guarantees you won't get toll fee bills in the mail that are not yours.

I think we can transfer a plate to another vehicle, not sure. If the vehicle is not being replaced, then we should turn them in, which supposedly releases us from any liability attached to the use of those plates following the turn in date. They are no fun to collect anymore with the year stickers instead of stamped years.

I keep them anyway, hang them up in the garage. Probably worth nothing, but always have done it that way.

Our plates transfer with vehicle unless special plates like handicap which we transfer to the replacement vehicle.

Nothing "done" today, but much accomplished. A bit of morning rain caused us to do cleanup in the garage until weather improved then outside to clean up mess in the field. Trailer ready to take to transfer point tomorrow. One major mess left, the former Costco tent. BIL coming back Wed and well tackle it.

Coffee is brewing. 58° with clouds and some morning rain. Heading to 74° with clouds after morning rain. Going to be a good day to stay inside and relax.
In MI we can transfer plates when we get another vehicle. As long as they are the same category. We had plates that were over 20 years old on our car. Got new ones with a number that we can remember.
Good Morning All.
