Good afternoon all. 10F this morning winds calmed down a bit after last night so wc only -8F. Forecast is for 16F clear and 20mph wind. Have problem at work unable to call bar code program from database for 1 division. Have workaround in place but can't figure out why normal call does not work :thumbdown::shocked:

Are you allowed to burn brush there? If not, what do you do with the trimmings?

I've been cooking for several hours and just took four Tupperware containers over to my mother-in-law. She asked me if it was time yet to make a sour cherry pie for me. I looked at her and smiled and she replied oh nevermind I know the answer is yes. I had run out of fresh garlic so I wasn't able to make shrimp scampi, which really was the whole reason I was going over there. However she had lots of garlic and that saved me a trip to the supermarket. So in about an hour this whole house will smell like garlic which won't bother me one bit. It took me almost 45 minutes this morning to peel the shrimp, which I probably should not be doing anyway with his bum hand, but I went slowly and it got done.

In addition to the garlic, I did come home with some homemade muffins, and I do believe the coffee pot just dinged. A few of those muffins will soon disappear.:licking:

Drew, there are rules about how big a pile you can burn without a permit, but I have always burned brush piles without calling it in. You just wait for a calm day when you have all day to spend on it. If you will look at the first picture again, you can see the remains of my old brush pile, with a little brush from last fall piled on it. I didn't have time to pick up what I cut today, but it won't take me long. It's just a couple of trailer loads.

I have a bigger brush pile up closer to the road where I have been cleaning out up at the crossroads. I have three really big oaks there, and my long term plan is to get most of the smaller trees and brush under them cut. And since I like using hand tools, it is an ongoing project. But I do need to burn that brush pile soon. That is where I'm planting my gourds this year, and it will be time to do that before you know it.

Boy am I glad I got out and enjoyed the warm weather today, because it looks like winter is going to come to NW Florida. I'll try to run to town in the morning so I'll be back home before it gets too nasty.

Very cold and snowy is no way to go through morning in central Ohio but that's the story on this particular day. Computer says it's 21 below--that's 21 below--- at 5 AM and we have about a foot of snow around in varying depths because of the high winds we had. I've already done the cold thing in life and this is getting real old real fast.
