Good morning!!!!

Good morning. The sun is shining and the wind is putting a good bend on the trees.

This week I was expecting to pick up the oil filters I had ordered and get some more engine and hyraulic oil. Unknown to me, after I placed the order, the dealer had being doing some checking with the uk distributor. He rang to let me know that after I bought my Iseki, the service intervals have been extended and they can be applied to my machine too, so nothing to buy after all for another 100 hours.

A copy of the new user manual showing the revised service intervals also came yesterday in an email. Think I have a very good dealer who does what it takes to create long term customers. It would have been easy for them to just take my money.

Eric, that's good to hear. I don't know what the new service interval is but if more than 150 hours for oil changes, I wonder...but I"m pretty old fashioned about this. I have read some diesels are up to 250 hours. On a farm tractor used constantly, I guess I can see those longer intervals. For most of us 100-150 hours is a lot for a year, and we just change oil once a year.

I had a truck with a 7500 mile oil change interval and the dealer put a sticker on the windshield telling me to come back at 5000. When I asked why, just rolled eyes. A dealer not as forthcoming as Eric's for sure.

Rained so hard last night it woke me up. My newly functioning rain gauge said I got just over an inch here but the area report is two inches. Local farmers are trying to begin the harvest of feed corn and these rains might make for some interesting field experiences. For me, just more grass to mow; that's todays chore anyway. At least it sure won't be dusty out there after a big rain.

Poured second cup of coffee. 58° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 66° with rain showers throughout the day. Off to my mother place to wash siding and windows.
Good Morning All.

65 going to only 83. Clear as a bell outside...nice stars...after a small rain last night.

I got my bush-hogged sunflower field tilled yesterday. I was rained on twice and had to make a run for cover...just brief showers, then sun. Finally got it planted at dusk with a mix of oats, clover, rye, and brassica. Good winter cover crop and food for deer.

Billie, what do you use for a planter? If I ever get to buy the acre next door, and have a tiny bit of real farm field, I need to plant something in it.
Lot of light duty options, then it seems to get seriously expensive very quickly. if you bushhogged it and then planted, I'm assuming you are using some form of drill?
Never done this, want to, have a lot to learn.

oops, misread, you said tilled. Rototiller on the tractor? That's the route I figured I would go, but then I need a planter.

76 going to 88. First day in a week we have no rain on the radar... of course it rained all night. My camera came yesterday, hope to play with it today. Got a massage scheduled this morning, then my weekend starts.

62 this morning and headed to 81 today. Rain chances start this afternoon. Hopefully be out by morning.

Metal for roof on building supposed to be in today. So go pick that up. Need some double bubble to put under it. Stops the sweating. But first move a tractor and start washing the chicken houses.

Drew. For just an acre. A disk and broadcast spreader is what I'd use. Maybe a cultipacker.

Kev. You headed for Texas this weekend. Or did you talk her down.

Good morning all, 59F heading to 67F. Would have been a beautiful bike ride to work today if only my brain could convince my body to do it. After taking a few days off from riding because of the weather, it is hard to get back on the bike.:ashamed:

Farmer, not this weekend, and she is starting to see the overall cost at 8mpg and time, but still wants them, so now she is negotiations with someone in NC. I figure I will go when she tells me I have to be somewhere. NC is a lot closer :D

For 20 acres I use a disc and broadcast spreader.

You said you were going to plant your winter pasture, what do you plant? Wheat or rye?

/ Good morning!!!! #37,472
Kev. I plant a mix of winter wheat and annual ryegrass. Wheat at about 75lbs/acre. Ryegrass about 15lbs/acre.

Good Morning! 79F @ 6:15AM. Mostly sunny. High near 105F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

Drew, I wouldn't hesitate to just broadcast a field mix of rye, barley, and clover by hand from a 3 gallon bucket. Here that worked better than a broadcast spreader, and I did about 5 acres.

Much of the new shale oil production was financed with loans, and to make the payments the owners have to pump oil no matter what they can sell it for. New drilling has slowed dramatically, and better off producers have cut back on the pumping, but they're in the minority. The Saudies have cut back a little recently, and the Venezuelans are lobbying OPEC for even more cutbacks, but it's anyone's guess where it goes from here. Don't think there's going to be much of a drop in production here in the US though.

TGIF everyone!

Drew, I tilled with a 3-pt tiller on the Kubota. Since it was only a small plot (about half an acre) and since these were relatively expensive, small seeds, I mixed them in a bucket and spread with this hand spreader. For bigger fields, or bigger seeds, I use a 3-pt attached spreader that is also good for lime or fertilizer.

You're right, even a small seed drill is expensive, and I'd love to have one, but can't justify it.

Good afternoon. It's only going to be in the mid 90's today so this cooler weather has me thinking of firewood! There was this tree that had fallen across the creek during the spring floods, so I pulled it out and chomped it with the grapple this morning - the grapple cuts pretty neat.:D This should be enough firewood to last till Christmas.

Kev. I plant a mix of winter wheat and annual ryegrass. Wheat at about 75lbs/acre. Ryegrass about 15lbs/acre.

Hmmm, wonder if I was estimating wrong? I was looking at 50# rye grass and 50# Bahia per acre.

RNG, That is a lot of 3 gallon buckets when I am looking at throwing out 600#'s of seed. By the time I throw out fertilizer with one spreader, change hoppers, throw out seed, then pull a chain drag behind me to cover the seed, it will be a full day. Of course as soon as I do that, the rain will stop so I will need time for my rain dancing. And NO!!! Before you ask I will not video me dancing in the fields.

300UGUY, What kind of goats do you raise? I think I have convinced my wife to part with her fainters in lieu of the zebu's... of course I am keeping my kiko's :D

TXDon, that would be enough firewood to last me 2-3 years. And I am SOooooo jealous of your grapple.

Good afternoon all. 72F this morning and sunny, then clouded up, then cleared off again made it to 89, in spite of cold front passage at 10:30. Bike ride this morning, working on 10-speed this afternoon (brought it back from STL).

Gary know the feeling... yesterday was first ride since 9/2. Does wind noise bother you?

David(moss) Bummer about the cold fortunately I don't get bothered very often by other peoples germs, I feel spoiled.

Don at the Missouri house I would have burn at least 2 face cords by Christmas!

Drew I also am skeptical of long drain times. I realize the low sulfur helps but would really like to know how fine the oil gets filtered to. I have my doubts as to how well soot really lubes the bearings
