Roy--being new to the North you might not be aware of this but for any light and fluffy snowfall, a powerful leaf blower does a great job. There are some drawbacks to this and it's important to cover any opening in your clothes, even at the neck and wrists because you will be covered with snow when you are done. But it works and is easy.

Yesterday's snow wasn't particularly light and fluffy. I've swept the walks and deck if it's a dry, low accumulation, snowfall.
I do know about using a leaf blower (although I never have) to remove snow. However, I do thank you for bringing it up!!

I am as far from a Cajun as one could possibly be, but as far as shrimp seasoning - Zatarain's shrimp boil and their SEVEN wonderful seasonings are IMHO the best and only way to enjoy shrimp. Now a true Cajun would probably laugh at me comparing Zatarain's as being authentic Cajun...but that's neither here nor there. That dang stuff is G R E A T!!!

That being said - I have NO CLUE what the seasonings are. But if the local grocery stores here in tornado alley stock it, surely they have it in your neck of the woods!

300UGUY, my cousin stole a couple of my treestands last winter. Since he was family I didn't call the law. He got caught growing pot last summer. I have nothing against anyone trying to grow a little smoke for their own use, but he had his growing a few feet from the front door of his camper. {I forgot to say he lives in a camper with about 5 dogs} And I'm sorry about complaining about the cold when it gets down in the 50's. I'll try to refrain from that in the future.

Drew, I don't know how spicy you like things, but I put Smokey Mesquite in just about everything. But you might try some All Spice, garlic salt and red pepper flakes. But it is hard to get the flavor to stick to boiled shrimp unless you put a lot of it. You might want to mix up another cocktail sauce, something not tomato based.

David/Sodamo, don't your hands just tingle for the opportunity to grab that snowblower, tote that shovel, chip that ice? yeah sure.

Well Drew, can't really say about the snowblower, never fortunate to have one when I could have used it, but shovel... I hate shoveling, be it snow, dirt, sand, sh..manure. Seems growing up, there was always shoveling to do. I've caught myself going to extremes to avoid LOL

As for your shrimp, a variation I like: toss the cooked shrimp in a bowl, a bit of garlic salt, pepper, maybe a bit of cayenne pepper, maybe some seasoning such as Italian or oregano and basil. Toss lightly to coat. Can be eaten that way or still dip n the sauce.

well we are all kind of on the same page. The shrimp is done, boiled in a mix of dill, cajun rub and whatever else looked interesting. Boy what a nice smell, almost sweet, and I mixed up a big batch of Kelchner's cocktail sauce with extra straight horseradish mixed in. it really does give you that suck it in feel up your nose when those vapors hit. Great stuff! Larro, you're 100% right, not much taste left on the shrimp from the boil, but just a little. Better too little than too much. I have had enough seafood so loaded down with Old Bay seasoning that one couldn't taste anything else.

An unintended consequence of all that shrimp peeling is my carpal tunnel is going nuts in my primary "peeler". As long as I have enough grip left to hold a glass of
wine...:D

My sister lives about half an hour over the NJ line in Princeton, and the only way to get there is over the Route 95 bridge, aka Scudders Falls Bridge, and it is just nuts at rush hour. Might not be too bad today with everyone still off, but usually it's an exercise in watching every simpleton that has no idea how to merge create havoc on the bridge. Worse, there is a dead stop right at the beginning of the bridge for the NJ onramp, no way to accelerate at all, and the trucks come barrelling down a hill to the bridge over 60mph and then some one pulls out right in front of them. Tire smoke, no where to maneuver, lots of wide eyes in a hurry. I never get in the left lane besides a truck there because so many times they wind up swerving into the left lane at the last minute. This is the kind of stuff that's hard to teach a young driver, how to read the road conditions and think ahead.

We had a guy here who's neighbor called the cops on him for playing the music too loud, late at night. Guy had awesome speakers. And about 100 pot plants.

The prisons are full of stupid people. I would say that 90% of the folks who smoke a little weed do it without ever getting in any trouble. They go to work everyday, pay their taxes and never come to the law's attention. But the stupid ones keep the cops busy.

Yea, some local shrimp, a stream prawn (opae), but not commercially available and I think some shrimp farms on Oahu. Unfortunately, the fish situation is somewhat a disappointment coming from seacoast Maine. No clams, oysters, or even abundant crabs, the lobsters are disappointing at best. Some great local fish if you can get it, but on the expensive side. Sadly, most that we buy are frozen. Having a local, active fisherman as a friend would be and asset.
