Great news, toppop! Take a little time and continue to improve! Decorations don't have to be up, for Christmas to arrive. It is the spirit of the season that is important. (I just wonder why it is limited to one season.)

“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
Dr. Seuss

One thing to remember that's surly not nice,
is driving in Texas when it's snowing and ice.
So stay clear of the streets don't even go near,
or put Muffin in a seatbelt and drive in pure fear.

snow freezing drizzle with 30 degrees looks to be close to a inch.we are forcasted for a high of 32 today.there will be no plowing today i will take tractor and drive back and forth to pack it down on the gravel.i usually like a 3-4 inch base.this will prevent scraping gravel onto the lawn.let this base freeze and your good to go.

Roy--another thing on wood. I burned it when I cut my own but where I live it's fields forever and no opportunity.

Take a look at those compressed sawdust bricks sold at TSC and other farm stores. I thought the price was OK and they heat really well. Plus you can damp them to near zero and apparently with almost no creosote.
I used to turn my nose up at them but bought some last year and am really impressed. Also...no bugs.

I've read about these..there are caveats in using them in a wood stove.
First, they must be all wood with no wax or other binder. I don't know if the TSC brick are 100% sawdust or use that waxy binder...do you know?
Secondly, they're a bit expensive and the bricks last about an hour or so (no personal experience, but this is what I read)
Thirdly, they must be stored indoors

I bought mine at Rural King and no binder in them. Just pressed sawdust/chips. Mine lasted longer than an hour but how much I can't recall. I do remember that sales prices were close enough to wood that I wondered why burn wood?

In a woodstove I have burned handfuls of corn with zero problems. Also burned whole ears of dried sweet corn with no problem.

Yes, they have to be stored inside but there are no bugs.

I didn't just fall into this stuff but went kicking and screaming the whole way. I'm a dyed in the wool woodcutter because I had lots of free wood. In the old days we burned maybe 8 cords a year through an old Vermont Castings Defiant and loved every minute of it.

Today's 86˚ beat the 1954 warmest day record set for December 3 in central Texas.

Ron, the cold front will blow into our area at 8:00 A.M. Thursday morning with rain and the Temps will drop throughout the day and it will be 26˚ by Friday . . .so they say. Ice and snow for Saturday. Time to cut more wood.
