Jim, nothing like biting into a hot turkey sandwich and grabbing a couple of whole cranberries to liven up the taste.

but as you say, when you get to the third turkey sandwich, well....

Roy, I tie my metal can lid to the can with a piece of baler twine. I'd like to just put the bags out in the morning, but the ravens and crows can tell time and even know which day is garbage day.

I'll use a bungee cord when I replace the lids...but if it was theft (which is what I think happened), bungees won't help much.

This time of year it seems that charity comes up more often, it shouldn't, we should be charitable year round, human nature being what is though...
I sometimes give a stranger that looks to need a hand, a few bucks, something I've always done whether I could afford it or not, after all in a day or two I don't know the difference. People often say to me;"How do you know he won't buy beer with that money?" My answer is always the same; "I don't. It's not my responsibility to see how he spends it, it's my job to offer help, so whether it buys food or cheap wine, it's out of my hands." I've done my part, beyond that I 'm not responsible. I take it on faith that someone is helped.

I use the same thing my dad used to do. If someone was looking for a handout, he'd buy them a sandwich, a bag of chips, and a drink for them, at the nearest location. If he was giving a lift to someone hitching a ride, he'd stop at a convenience store near the highway, and get them food and drink! However, if they tried to smoke in his truck, or had their cigarettes in their pocket or in sight, he didn't buy them food. He always said to me, "If they can afford their habit, they should have money to buy their own food, otherwise, they'd give up the habit, and use that money for a meal." I think the same can be said for alcohol.

So, to this day, I donate food or clothing, or make meals to deliver to shut-ins, or ill neighbors. I'll donate toys and clothes for the kids, etc., but I don't normally hand money to an individual. I give that to the Salvation Army, or a local charity that feeds and helps those down on their luck.

We each do the best we can to help.

Good evening all. 31F this morning and cloudy light breeze. High was 40F ( didn't feel that warm). 16F forecast for when we leave tomorrow for TX, 9 1/2 drive time. Taking the fishing boat stepdaughter thinks she can sell it easy.

To all have a happy and safe travel and Thanksgiving.

Good Evening. 1900, light rain, 55* with 96% humidity. Forecast low is 39* with 70% chance of rain. We have had 1.65" of rain here, but just up the road a few miles they had 2.5". When I was driving to Marianna I had to pull over and check my owner's manual to see if the wipers had a cats and dogs level. Just glad there was little to no traffic.

About giving to folks who don't use good judgment in life. I heard a joke when I was a kid that fits the bill pretty nicely.

Paddy went in to see his priest. He ask the father for $2000 because his wife had to have an operation or she would die. It had to be done the next day, and even then she might still die. The priest ask, "Paddy how can I be sure you won't just take this money to the racetrack and bet it all?"
Paddy said, "Father, I truly need the $2000 for the wife's operation. I already have money for the ponies."

Good Evening.

29* and light snow coming down. Expect 1-2 inches, then rain/sleet. Rain tomorrow 1-2 inches with SE winds 15-25 mph.

It's a snotty looking snow now, the kind that slicks up quickly on frozen roads. Other than that, I don't think don't we will any have problems.

I'm baking pies tomorrow, so the power lines better not mess me up.

For you folks traveling, get there safe. Better late than never.

well I'm definitely first up this morning, want to get out the door at 4am and on Route 95 not going 95mph for sure, uh Don.
Do we have that right this time? :D

The rain is pounding on the roof, but it's 55 degrees out, going to sixty something here. The last gasp of warm Southern air that "came up" with the NorEaster is hanging on around here, but will disappear quickly and get cold. But until then, I'm off in the wet stuff, intentionally trying to avoid the traffic. Less cars means a much easier ride.

Well, gotta go. If I don't get a chance to get back on tomorrow, not sure if my wifi card will work there, but it should, right Verizon?, have a peaceful and warm Thanksgiving.

And yes, I will drive carefully, and watch for pooled water. First time to get my little TDI in the rain. Well, we'll sure see if it leaks...

It is 45 degrees and raining. Expect it to rain all day long.
Nothing to do but wait it out. Tomorrow the temps will be in the teens so everything will be a cake of ice
