David glad things are working out for the moment, nice to be home I'm sure. Freezing rain now everything has a nice coat of ice on it 30 degrees outside high later today of 35. Hopefully it stops before the power outages start. Tonight more rain then snow tomorrow may make our trip exciting to say the least. Son should leave Richmond today and traveling down the coast should miss the mess at least the frozen kind.
Ron glad you made it to Mooresville safe and sound. You are now about two hours south of us

good morning all. Like most of you, watching the weather. Snow is coming in, seems to be passing North of us but sooner or later it will hit here. The temps are actually supposed to rise, so I'm hoping when I take off at 4am on wed to drive to VA that it will only be raining. People are nuts enough in the rain, add half an inch of snow and the 10mph specials come out. With huge lines behind them. And folks trying to pass them. I just try to stay as far away from everyone as I can.

Probably will do 95 most of the way, which is boring, but always kept pretty clear with plenty of salt. I like multi lanes because hopefully there is a lane clear on the left to get around the slow pokes. Hey if I was out there in a Buick Lesabre with worn out tires, I'd be going slow too... And the noisy little rice burners with their giant exhausts, lowered suspensions and wide tires, boy are they useless in the snow. It's not the weather that will get you, it's the other drivers...

David/MF: if you can afford to stay at your farm on your own, well, have a blast cleaning it up. It's yours now. And your daughters. Sounds pretty neat to me. Just stay focused on the good stuff...

going to the dermatologist today to get some precancerous spots zapped. I've had them for awhile but did nothing about it while Nadene was so sick. Now I have to get this done, I am fair skinned and I'm not interested in melanoma for sure.

A very busy day today, made worse by my idiocy with the lost keys, so I have to go back late this afternoon and bring the suburban home. Well, if it's snowing like crazy at 4am tomorrow, I guess I'll just take that instead.

Drew -
Good morning from Mississippi.

Just read of your key problem.
A locator is neat but sometimes useless. Go for at least 3 copies. Usually with a new vehicle now you get 2 and a "Valet". When I've lost 1 I duped the Valet.

Back in about '74 me and ex-SWMBO were about to leave on a cross-country trip (going to California that morning) from northern New York in a '66 Valiant FULL TO THE BRIM. No ignition keys could be found. Had a set in Vermont. Opened the trunk and dug thru all to find that ex-SWMBO had missed them under the front seat. After that I made a rule of there shall be 3 keys for every important lock.

And as soon as 1 get's misplaced we do a high low search. So far (almost 40 yrs) I've had to get 1 key made for the Honda Fit (I swear my daughter could lose a pair of keys and find them in her hand).
And I've boxes of keys for old masterlocks etc.

Many times one of the three would get misplaced and if I waited a few weeks it would be found.

Newbury, thanks. I just know when i finally get all those trash bags out of the truck that somewhere that key will show up.
But since apparently I only have one left, I will sure get two now. And, I will put those silly tracker buttons on them.

The suburban has a big door pocket. My driver door pocket is almost filled with keys. All with a tag, and I found if I keep them all in one place, well usually it works. Keys for tractors, keys for RV, keys for three different wheel locks, mowers, tillers, golf cart, UTV, on and on. I even dug through all of that to see if I accidentally threw them in the door pocket. Nope.

So, unless I wear a giant janitor like key chain, which I'm not going to do, I will always be challenged with losing keys and glasses.

They usually do show up. My lost cellphone reappeared as expected. Glasses usually not, I lose them on the farm taking them off and putting them down "someplace". I really need to wear retaining straps for them.
With the tracker electronics and some straps for my glasses, I should be fine. Maybe...:D

Maybe a dumb question but how do you make dressing in a crock pot? Sounds like a solution.

Other than that, central-south Ohio is braced for a few inches of snow tonight. That's unusual this early and more than most drivers are used to. I'll expect to see at least a few cars upside down over on the side of the road and down in the bushes or cornfield stubble. Snow will be gone the next day but people here have yet to master the art of snow driving. :)

These recipes give some ideas on crock pot dressing.

Prior to gaining a vegetarian DIL, we put the turkey giblets in (cooked and cut up first), vegetable broth, sage, celery, black pepper--all the usual things you like in dressing.

Drew, in your case I do think it is you and NOT the other drivers.

hmm, you lost me...I've never had an at fault accident in my life.

hmmmmmm. Have to admit I'm worried I've offended you some how. Or do you just think I'm too distracted? Don, please clarify.

what am I missing here?

Ok, I'm such a dummy. I didn't see that 95 was bolded. Yup, if I did 95 going to VA on Route 95 I might have some issues in the Baltimore tunnel. I would not want to be in the right lane in the tunnel when a 7000 pound Suburban went past doing 95.

Ok txdon, you got me.

I usually drive at five over, maybe ten, but not higher than 72 usually. Just eats up too much gas and I'm retired now so why hurry? I actually enjoy driving the motorhome in the slow lane, much more relaxing than the bumper to bumper frenzy in the left lane.

Well, let's see, the motorhome won't do 95, but the suburban sure could. Wonder what the instantaneous mpg would be at that speed. Actually it's a stupid discussion, it's seriously dangerous to drive that speed anywhere in these parts.

Morning all, 32 here heading to 36. Looks like the big storm will be south of me so we shouldn't get very much snow.

29 right now and a high of 36 predicted. We did have a dusting of snow last night...
Tonight should be interesting. It's not going to be that cold (low of 30), but 100% chance of ice pellets...never heard that term before...I suppose it's sleet and freezing rain. 100% expectation of rain tomorrow. I'd be OK with snow, but we get what we get.

Hi folks, thanks for the thoughts and prayers, I send mine to you all as well. Never too many good wishes in this world. One of my strange days yesterday, couldn't eat, nausea all day, etc... Better today, ate breakfast, this every other week is getting old. Going for more tests today and tomorrow. I'm gonna quit complaining, I have a great wife, kids, grand sons and mom, the Lord has truly blessed me and I have no right to complain so I quit!:D
