15 degrees this morning and will it make it to 30 today, I don't think so
Really windy yesterday and right around 5 PM we lost power so at
6 PM or so I hooked up the generator and after a little trouble getting it to
Stay running I figured out the low oil sensor was cutting out, finally got that working and we were set for the Pat's game
Power came back on around 9 PM. So today I will change the oil and service the generator before I put it away.

Happy 67th Birthday David! Thanks for the info on the water tanks. You are an island, on an island.

Our power went out 2:30pm yesterday and came back about 5am this morning. The wind was blowing pretty good all day causing lots of outages around Maine. Bad night to be a lineman with those winds and 15*. Ran the generator for a couple hours before going to bed.

Currently 12* and light breezes. Now they are saying heavy rain and 50* on Wednesday. Oh goody. We have 2" of frozen ground on top now which makes for fast runoff in heavy rains.

Have a better day all.

Right on Zero here on the hill before dawn. I have lots to do today ahead of Wednesday's storm. Top prioity is to put the chains back on the tractor. Plowing up hill without them is a nogo.

good morning all. Not as cold as in NH, but it feels like it, 19 degrees out.
CNN's headline this morning:
THIS IS NOT TEXAS WEATHER!
that just about sums things up...

am sipping on a cup of coffee, illegally, have to go to the primary doc this morning and get annual
blood work, so I'm supposed to be fasting. Well, that means no sausage egg mcmuffin right?...

I was SO happy when I opened the drain valve on my RV's hot water tank yesterday, about 28 degrees outside, and a whole lot of very cold water came gushing out. Yes, no ice. I had wanted to take the RV down to my brother's place in Delaplane VA for Thanksgiving, but the weather forecast is miserable, not going to drive in bad weather in that thing, way too exciting for me. I could take the Suburban, utterly nothing stops that except stopped traffic, which is always the problem.
But I think I will take the VW Golf and see how it does on the highway. With new tires and fwd, I'll do fine. And I've been driving it for three days and finally the fuel gauge got off Full. By a hair. Really remarkable, the difference between 11mpg and 45....ya think?

Spent almost six hours cleaning the house yesterday, groan, but boy does it look better. Now if I can get all these bags of clothes out of here, I might start thinking about some Xmas decorations. My wife was into decorating for sure, we have one wall of the basement almost filled with Christmas stuff in boxes and boxes. Need to go through all that too. I think I may have a tree trimming party and send everyone home with plenty of extras...

Going to call the hospice place down the road and see if they can use all the leftover medical supplies. I already gave back all the oxicontin and other narcotics, didn't want them around the house. The street value of that stuff must be amazing, but not my way of making money... And I have about four hundred syringes, I think the type you flush lines with. Glue applicators? :D I'm going to keep a good supply of usable stuff, like the 4x4 bandages, but I sure don't need ostomy supplies. But I bet someone does so I want to recycle this stuff, if I can. Sometimes you can't.

I bet Ron is wishing he left a week earlier...

A very good Monday and week to you all.

18 this morning very cold for our neck of the woods this early in the season, have to go back in the 60s and 70s to see temps like these. Snow and ice supposed to start after 4:00AM tomorrow then all rain by 10:00 AM but I wonder. Then heavy rain tomorrow ending Wednesday as heavy snow and the cold returns thru the weekend. Did not due much this weekend too cold I guess, have a lot of black gold to put down today then with weather guess rest of week off. Still at least another two weeks with no home cooked meals but the payoff at the end of the road will be well worth it. Maybe tomorrow will service tractor after it warms up. For those of you who look at long range weather appears it will get very wintery around here the first two weeks of December. Randy hope you get to feeling better real soon and will keep you in our prayers. This winter may turn out to be one of the most active ones we have seen in a very long time with lots of snow pushing and tractor time. Good Morning All

Drew glad the water did not freeze in your RV. VWs get amazing fuel mileage don't they son drives a Jetta diesel and gets fabulous fuel mileage and not a bad ride either

Good Monday Morning! For retired people anyway. 37˚ and raining. Probably lots of Ice in the counties to the North and West. The wood burning stove is going at my back, nice and cozy.

Got second cup of coffee. 16ー with clouds this morning. Heading to 38ー with some sun. Made it to VA yesterday. Got about 100 miles to make it to our next sons place in NC. Picked a good day to travel. Good road conditions and light traffic. My son will not be home until tonight. He got caught in bad weather in west TX.
David, Happy belated Birthday.
Good Morning All.
