Good morning!!!!

My issue was not too dry but too wet.:confused2: We got so much rain in June that the watermelon patch and the regular garden both flooded out:mad:. All my tomato plants died but 1 and it looks sickly, all the bean plants died, and the only things to survive were the pepper plants but even the pepper are just starting to bare fruit so to speak.;) Will try hilling next year.:D

My bad. I guess it was dried mud I was seeing in the pictures. Through it all, our pepper have kept on keeping on. One or two of them are looking rough, but since I planted 30 {what was I thinking?} we are still getting much more than we can use.

what's her name? :D:dance1:
How many gears?...
cuz if you're playing with her, she's got to have gears. :D

Roy so sorry to hear what has happened to you and your fellow workers. We purchased our first VC stove in the early 80痴 and believe it or not sales were bad back then too. Most of the old timers that worked at the foundry hung in there way back then. I have owned four of the stoves and must say they work find for us. Although things with the company certainly have changed. One of the engineers that worked for me had family up there and his Dad worked in the foundry, his last name was Pierce and he was still there when we bought our first new stove. We actually drove up there and picked it up.

There was a place on main street in Bethel that I could go to and Bill the owner had worked at VC for something like 29 years and had a direct connection with the company and you could buy parts from Bill and drive up the street to the VC and pick up the parts.

Bill closed down and the hardware store up that way took the inventory he had and you can still get some of the items, but I don稚 believe you can walk in off from the street at the warehouse and get parts anymore.

I just hope you can find something up that way or down in White River Junction.

peppers? you want peppers? Oh, we've got peppers here...and I have zero idea what I grew. All the rain hurt our garden too, most of the vine crops were utter duds, the strawberries have been mushy all summer, though they seem to be getting better now. All I want to do is send my water to Texas....sigh.

ok, take pity on me. I bought a whole tray of pepper plants that had one plant with a marking, and it was a sweet green.
The rest of these, well, the only one I think I know the name of is the skinny little red one, which i believe is what they make pepper spray out of. Can anyone name the rest?

Larro, your garden is gorgeous. What is the mulch that looks so perfect?

385hp, British, and fast. Well....if new, has to be a Jag or Land Rover.

If old, hmmm. Nothing but nothing old had eight speeds except a truck.
so if this girl is mature, you've got me stumped. Brits never seemed to be into hp like the Germans.

I don't know of any eight speed manuals, unless Porsche makes one now??, so it's got to be a double clutch auto or a conventional auto.

can't get any closer without another hint

That's Mills' Hardware in Bethel and yes, he still sell VC stoves.
And one does have to buy replacement parts from the dealers now...no direct sales from the foundry or assembly plant (just south of Bethel).

Quite a few of the foundry employees had been there for 30some years. Most have been through a number of layoffs.

I used two rolls of old hay. It does help keep the weeds down, but when the melon vines started dying, there was nothing to shade the melons. I wouldn't have minded a few weeds.

I can help you ID some of those peppers. I'm assuming you know the jalapenos. {mine have the same marks on them. From the rain?} The big red pepper is like the Marconi peppers we grew this year. They are great for stuffing. The thin red ones are Cayenne, my favorite for pepper sauce.{they fit in the whiskey bottles I bring from work} If the long pale greenish yellow ones are mild, they are Sweet Banana peppers. Are the long pale red ones the same pepper, just older? If not, I don't know what they are. Not sure what the bright green one is. They all look good. Your tomatoes too. We just started getting enough tomatoes to depend on them. {now that the cukes are all gone}

Yep I have been to the Mills Hardware. Prior to that just north on Main Street was the other hardware store. The guy that owned it, his first name was Bill, got out of the business and Mills purchased his inventory.

I have always like the cast iron stoves and just hope things improve in the marketplace and all of are called back Roy.
