good morning Ron same weather here the temp yesterday was 81 but so humid the sweat was rolling. got 1/2" of rain last night with high winds. still got the wind this morning so the grass will dry quick. got all 3 mowers serviced yesterday oil change greese and blades sharp so ready for rest of the mowing season. everyone have a great day

Bill, if John Deere would spend an extra nickle on their overpriced tractors for urethane instead of ABS or whatever you wouldn't see so many cracked hoods! Seriously though, you almost can't find a used JD for sale that doesn't have anything from a crack to massive chunks missing.

I would much rather have a steel hood which would have dented rather than broken...the salesguy who sold me my tractor said steel retained underhood heat more than the plastic ones do and were prone to cracking from vibration and were heavier. A replacement hood is about $285 from Ebay. What a ripoff.

I simply don't know why they didn't use urethane, my old Wizard garden tractor has that and you can lean on it, run into stuff and it just pops back into shape.

Just a late entry was up early this morning, but we had a bit of a rain storm and it washed into the yard and also into the cellar. So I spent a few hours cleaning up the dirt road and plowing ditches on the side to keep the rain water moving down the hill. One of those cases where there is a discontinued road behind us and the liberal court system gave permission for people to build on a discontinued roadway. They call it a private driveway entry. Now neither the town or the people will pay to have ditches and culverts drains put into the road to keep the water out of our yard and house.

I went up the hill this morning and used my plow on the road to dig a ditch across the road way to divert the water away from our house side. I am sure I will hear about this is a day or two from the town and neighbor.

The road was closed over 100 years ago and returned to the abuters, but some how the planning board felt it was okay to have a private driveway off from the discontinued road and have road frontage for the property on a different roadway (problem is there is a pond between the roadway and the house so they could not build a driveway to the road.

So that is my spout for the day.........sorry for the lengthy Good Morning!

74 degrees here and 100% humidity, this area just got an intense downfall of rain, over an inch in 5 minutes...I had just finished cutting down this 25 year old dwarf apple tree, the fruit crop for apples is so heavy this year the tree SPLIT down the middle because of the weight of the fruit...such a contrast to last year's apple crop that was almost zero because of the frost that destroyed most of it.

JD - You didn't cut the whole apple tree down did you ? You just cut off the part that split and was shown in your pic right ?
