Good morning!!!!

with my afternoon newly freed up, and rain threatening, still got the potato patch mowed down, just doing weed control. On Thursday will mow it down to just above
dirt and have it prepped for Saturday harvest.

The oem bucket on my Massey seems like a high capacity bucket, or maybe just a bit flimsily made.
It's a US Quicke loader.
Steel isn't very thick compared to WR Long grapple I have that is super strong.
Tradeoff I'm sure of weight vs capacity vs cost.

I was patient and waited a whole week to get into the pickled beets my neighbor made from my first batch of cukes.
Yum.

A sunny 46ºF for today’s low. A beautiful sunny 78ºF for today’s high temperature. Some deer woke Brogen up ~4:30AM. The little bear woke me up ~5:30AM dragging the ashcan off the deck. He was unsuccessful at stealing bird food this time. Since I was up it was a good time to water the garden. Then walk the perimeter with Brogen. Later I spent 3 hours essentially recutting what I cut yesterday in 4 hours. This time I had the grass catcher on the mower to collect all the dried lawn clippings for mulching the garden. I have muscle groups and joints complaining about the 7 hours bouncing around mowing, but Happy Hour will “silence” the complainers.

Lynn- Thanks for sharing your “Winter” weather pics.

“…. Ahhh....New York.....I always enjoy the walks around the hospital seeing the people and the various eateries. Some fine sandwiches and interesting conversations in those little places.”- Mike. NYC is one of the few “Big Cities” that I enjoy visiting.

Happy Birthday to Kyle’s daughter.

Eric- In a way that bear did me a favor. Sunflower seeds are not as popular with the birds as they are during the Winter. We had consistent flocks of ~ 12 chickadees all Winter; now we have a pair of regular feeders.

Thomas- I really enjoy your sharing those moments of connecting to the native wildlife. Thanks.

RonJH- Nice sunrise picture. Thanks for sharing.

RNG- Your ongoing challenges with your utility company’s bottom line mindedness and CA state governments’s inaction boggles my mind. Our total electricity bill for last year was ~$34 thanks to our solar panels. We probably would have ended up with a credit if our propane fueled central heating had not failed during a subzero week. We really could not use our wood stove effectively due to my knee either. We resorted to heating our house with our 3 slimline mini splits.

Drew- I thought of you this PM when I found a tick setting up shop at the nape of my neck. I appreciate all the veggie pictures. Good luck with this round of Prednisone. I had/have a love-hate relationship with Prednisone. Despite all the permanent side effects, it did save my life. I still miss the energy and anti-inflammatory effects. I am sorry to read about your friend’s death and all of Miss Daisy’s losses. May your friend RIP.

So as not to pull on the loader unmoving objects that should not be pulled on by loaders, ahem, I got a heavy duty pull ring
for the front bumper of the big Massey. If I can't pull something out with 23 tons of pull, probably need a much bigger tractor.

or turn it around and use the rear drawbar. I wonder how much grip my tractor has, 5 tons loaded, big radials, wonder if it would create 23 tons of pull/grip anyway before this ring broke, or much, much more likely when my semi defective weld breaks.

I'll be watching the game from my recliner...no A/C needed...it's wet and cool here...will be glad when Springer comes back from the DL (he's on my fantasy team...along with Chirinos).

Amazing how well Houston is doing with all their injuries.

Their currently ahead 3-0.

Taking a mowing break and switching from the non A/C ZT to a cab tractor and RFM. It was 92°F at noon ..... now 94°F

10 days growth.

Severe weather warnings on TV and the Internet this afternoon, as a rainstorm came south from Oklahoma. It got here about 1:20 p.m., brief very heavy rain, then lighter rain and some pretty loud thunder before it passed on south and the hot sun popped back out. My rain gauge got about .28" of rain. And my wife is watching the TV and waiting for the rain delay to end and the Texas Rangers/Oakland Athletics baseball game to start.

Power came on about 1PM. I stopped for lunch and checked then, but apparently it came back on shortly before that.

Here's an article providing more details on PG&E's past bad behavior.

Too bad it took this to get me off my duff and get the generator configured and connected. It was nice to have this morning, but in reality I'd have been just fine without it doing what I had to do. Totally different story if there had been a fire, so it's full steam ahead to get the new solar power system up and running as soon as possible.

Did not get anything done excepting play with 2 dogs. Seems to be working. Puppy will walk alongside older dog like she is her mother.
NASCAR race canceled until 5pm tomorrow because of rain. No rain here yet. But it is humid.
