plus headed out to pick tomatoes and cucumbers, plus last of beets
Jar of pickled beets unopened in fridge, made by my neighbor. Figured longer they sit in there, the better, only
made a week ago. He said wait a week. That will be a treat for dinner tonight.

72 going to 79 today, rain will keep temps down
We have five more days of this in the forecast.

Good morning. Little breezy right now, about 60, supposed to get to 81 and stay dry today.

Got the new Blades on the New Holland deck this week. Mowed last night, much better!

Also cleaned up storm damage from Wednesday. Had a brief, violent storm come through. Had some branches down. Largest was from the pear tree right in front of the house.

Need to do some quality time with the string trimmer today or tomorrow. The bank along the road is overdue.

Still trying to get parole from going to a wedding this afternoon. My wife痴 service manager is getting married. I have met him twice. Never met the bride to be. I want to go to the short track tonight and help the rider with some suspension changes. That sounds more fun.....she hasn稚 said no to the plan.......

Hope everyone who is under the weather gets to feeling better.

Everyone have a safe and good weekend

Good Morning!!!! 63F @ 4:30AM. Sunshine to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High around 90F. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph.

Glad what the doctor found wasn't malignant, Drew, though a tick is certainly not a pleasant discovery. I share your concern about medicine interactions, and though I haven't found a site that'll search and display them for you, WebMD.com does a pretty good job of listing the interactions for individual drugs in an easy to understand format. Enjoyed reading about Mr. Higgins, and especially seeing the photos of some of his creations. Must have been a lot of fun testing those things out! Thanks for sharing.

Glad your wife is improving, Rip, and things are gradually getting better for you. Keep swinging, even a little at a time is still good progress.

Always a good feeling to finish the demolition and start building back, Phil. Hope the weather holds off until you can get that roof dried in.

From your photos, Don, that was a little lizard with lots of places to hide, so hopefully it's still on the job. I think I'd keep a stick handy to poke into the veggie garden before I did any reaching into it; hopefully to cause a warning rattle in case that four footer left a friend behind.

Lots of options on Amazon for pipe repair, Wng. Shouldn't take much in a drain line with little to no pressure, but probably not much fun getting to the leak under there. I have a couple of the HF staplers and nailers, one that uses standard Arrow staples. Last time I used it was a pretty big job, and toward the end it crapped out and I ended up with the old squeeze cocker to get done. Worth the fifteen bux I paid for it, but I'll replace it with something more robust when the time comes.

This forecast doesn't mention it, but yesterday the NWS declared Red Flag Warnings starting last night through next Tuesday. Their concern is motivated by 40 MPH winds and low humidity, and is mostly focused on the valley below here, but it's a really big valley. Within a minute yesterday afternoon, I got a phone call, txt message, and email from PG&E, the local utility, warning of preemptive power outages should weather conditions warrant, and to have my "emergency plan" ready. Emergency plan? What are we supposed to do without electricity? If the outages are widespread, and that seems to be the case, there will be no cellular network, no internet, and perhaps not even the land lines will work. So if there is another fire, we won't know about it until the sheriff's deputies come knocking or we see the smoke cloud. Without electricity, I can't pump water, so if there is a fire, I can't do much besides fill a bucket and throw it, not very far and not very much. I did get on Amazon and order a 240V wall socket and extension cord, which I'll use to rig a back feed for the small gas generator into the 240V drop I use to power the phase converter on the back porch. Yeah, not a great plan, but as long as I trip the main breaker I'll be OK, and it's only temporary until the new solar system is up later this year. Should be here this afternoon; Amazon Prime to the rescue again.

I didn't get too much grief at the building department yesterday. The gal that looked over my site plan wanted a close up view of where the solar panels were going up, easy to do. I had her go over the checklist they published for the plan and cross off the things that were unnecessary, a request motivated by the instructions on the form that everything was required even though half of them were not relevant to the solar installation. After the meeting I got an email from the company that will supply the racks for the solar panels telling me where to look for e-copies of their signed and stamped engineering analysis, which the building department is insisting on. So with a little work this weekend, I should be ready to submit my application next week. I didn't ask about wait times, but there were only three other "customers" at the office while I was there, and though they're busy, the big rush after the Camp Fire seems to have abated.

Tried to buy some upholstery supplies at the small shop in Oroville while I was in town yesterday, but they were closed. Called and left a message, and shortly after I left town got a return call telling me that the owner has decided to close the business, and is only there intermittently while cleaning out the building. He did have the supplies I need, so we'll set a time and get together next week, but he's the only storefront supplier in the area and his loss will be felt by many.

Not sure what else I'll get up to today, if the winds aren't too strong I'll take another crack at cleaning the gutters, and maybe even finish installing the carpet kit in the van. Should probably go fill the gas cans first thing, just in case they do turn the power off...

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

A lot of weddings these days are short tracks....

I got one to go to soon, son of a friend. This friend helped me a lot when i built my house 22 yrs ago. His son was a young teen then. I remember teaching him how to nail shingles on my porch roof. His first wedding.

Was feeling good, until i took a deep breath. Then i still feel it, and start coughing.

Sounds like the TBN crew will be busy today. My youngest mowed the front with the ZT last night. His 2nd time on it, he's getting real good, starting to show off, lol. He drove in front of a security camera and waved and grinned. Well i was watching, and soon took the video, speed it up, added a reverse of it, and posted on FB. Lol.
He came in saying how fun it was to use, but still likes driving the ranger better. My oldest has not tried it yet. Since my oldest is now working full time, i told the youngest he will have to do most of the mowing.

Need to change oil only at 8 hrs, but it doesnt say to change filter. Filter change at 100 with next oil change. Think i will change filter also. Think i will use synthetic since i have the same for 2 vehicles.

Had a pumpkin growing up in yard behind the garden, forgot to ask if he saw it, probably mowed it, not knowing what it was.

Need to get out of bed and take my meds. Then another hard day doing nothing.

RNG, what type solar panels and inverters you planning to use?

The terminology to google is:
"Drug to drug interactions"

Tomorrow may hit 100 so today I will finish harvesting the potatoes. A cool front with rain is expected Monday which will save a lot of gardens. Yea.

69 going to 79. Got a total of just under 3 inches yesterday.

I put out little cocktail umbrellas for the hummingbirds to use yesterday...they refuse to let the rain deter them from emptying the 15 feeders we have out...they have a compulsion...probably just spit the stuff out so they can drink more :). Just made another gallon of h-bird juice. Usually my wife handles them while I handle all the other birds, but she is out of town. We have 5 rabbits, 3 squirrels, and 3 chipmunks out front that are battling the birds for the birdseed. Found a red-tail hawk eating a tiny baby rabbit on the ground when Coco and I rounded a corner of the hedgerow.

Phil, that new roof is looking good. Glad you're getting good weather. I picked up the air stapler at HF yesterday, so ready to start on our screened porch, if the weather would cooperate. I have some touch up painting to do before rescreening, but not sure it will dry out before next Friday. I may get a small window today, if I'm willing to push it.

RNG, thanks for the ideas on pipe repair. There are many options.

BEF, glad your son is liking the Zero. I was reluctant to get mine last year, but now would never go back to a lawn tractor.

Well, my google calendar just reminded me to go change the HVAC filters, so under the house I go.

Good Saturday Morning. It 70°F this morning and clear, with humidity at 93%. Forecast says 95°F for this afternoon and 98°F tomorrow (groan!).

I'm hoping it's finally dry enough to mow around the house today as grass is tall and not slowing down. I'll mow near the house with the ZT and open areas with the LS and RFM.

BEF ... Kubota is suggesting first oil change at 8 hours? First oil change was at 50 hours on our ZD1211.

Drew .... glad you getting some help today. The pharmacists, at our local Walmart, have been very helpful on prescription side effects and interactions with other prescriptions as well as with OTC medications.

RNG .... good luck with your fire season out there. Hope you get your backup power in place soon. We've looked at a propane powered backup generator (Generac) more than once but .... in the 13 years we've owned this place, our power has been very reliable. I don't recall any outages even an hour long and we've been thru 3 hurricanes. We get those annoying blips occasionally where you have to reset clocks, etc. but, overall very reliable. (Knock wood)

Has our buddy Jay gone AWOL. He's not posted here since 6/3.

Everyone have a great weekend.

Prayers to all.

Good morning to all! Low only went down to 52, going for a high of 89... I bet it will go higher. Tomorrow evening, a cold front is supposed to cross the state dropping temps to around 70 for Monday w/ showers.

Busy weekend on tap for us, birthday party for granddaughter, errands, gravel spreading, weedwacking ... I'm sure some more stuff.

Sounds like everyone is busy... Must be that time of year.

Everyone have a great weekend! Prayers sent.

We got a little forest this morning 30°. Yesterday was mostly sunny and windy with high in the low 70's. It's cloudy this morning, it's supposed to clear up this afternoon and be in the mid 50's.

The neighbor didn't working on his deck yesterday. So I helped another neighbor move somethings around in his shop. He is trying to clean his place up to sale.

I'll go up and see if either one needs help today.

Hope everyone has a chance to enjoy the weekend.
CWB.
