Good morning!!!!

45 outside right now, heading to upper 50's. Must be raining or drizzling as I hear the gutter every once in a while.

Ran up to Dad's place after stopping by HF for pumps and hoses. I had excellent customer service. I could not find a drain hose so a store employee called on most everyone to look for it. I shopped the store to make sure they had it in stock and available before I got there. The guy finally found it in the back and promptly made sure it fit the pump before I left. Smart move, great service.

Dad's place was underwater, I had managed to find the water supply the previous day which I had turned off. Unfortunate, the water must have been flowing for a while. Probably broke right after I left last time, with my luck. Since the house sits in probate I was advised to do minimal work, get the water out and turn on some fans. Which I did and am doing. Sad situation. Make sure your beneficiaries know some details of your properties before you pass.

Also unfortunate I stubbed my foot on some support while in the crawl space and broke my toe. Luckily it was not one I needed, LOL, Nice puffy and black this AM, Ugh.

Hope all have a great day, be safe and stay warm.
Sounds like you had rough day Rip  nurse the toe take it easy.

On Iphone, go to settings > camera > Format and set to "Most Compatible" to save as a JPEG, or else it's the larger format.
done, thank you very much
also saw that something else was turned on, saving a short video every time I took a pic.
turned that off too

would be nice if they do an update to not blow out your settings....

good morning all. Warm out, 42 in light rain all day, tonight, into tomorrow
will be an inside day, not sure what I will get into. School board finance meeting on zoom this afternoon so have
to study some balance sheets. 8 folks on committee, I seem to be the only one asking questions, which is why head of committee really wants
me to stay after June when I go off the school board after a total of 9 years on, last time and now. No, I'm done, need younger folks on the school board.

Good morning! 51˚F with a North wind changing to a South wind this afternoon with partly cloudy skies temps will reach 61˚ and our chance of more rain dwindles. At least we had 5" this week.

Today I'll make Lemon cookies for the card ladies that will be coming over this afternoon. This is a different group than "The Club". These are just the ladies that live on the few streets around ours. My wife is the host today for this weekly Hand and Foot card game event. So far 12 women have e-mail they will be coming. That is good because we only have 3 tables. Since it is a ladies only event I will have to make myself scarce and head out to the fitness center for a few hours.

Buppies hope you can get some sleep in today!

Good Morning...Kinda like the day after New Years 2000. I turned 70 and nothing happened. ;)
Should be high of 60º today then 75º for the next 5 days...I sense a top down drive tomorrow!
Maybe some weed spraying too. Little buggers are popping up all over. Easier to kill em when they are new starts.
Stay warm and safe out there

Morning all, still raining and going up t0 53, snow slowly disappearing.
Got some more complex bits of panel up yesterday, but energy level is pretty low,

I will try to put on the heavier springs for the garage door to see if that helps the motor.
Otherwise it's time for a new one.
Don't see many good reviews for the current garage door openers in the 1/2 - 3/4 hp class.

Hope all get some rest. take care of ailments.

Be well,

During measurement and framing

After, Lots of pipes right into floor, so trying not to rip out and redo.
Right to detached garage, center bottom to outside hose bib.

20240124_173433.jpg

The forward section has outlets, pipes, conduit to detached garage and pump for septic all in a little over a 48" space. That one will be less than fun, but it's also the last of the complex areas to SR over.

Good Morning
43° with a high of 50 in drizzle and fog.
Didn’t do much yesterday, fixed an ice machine at the restaurant, picked up a few things at HD, did a little paperwork.

Not too much planned for today, have to go to Manchester, NH this afternoon. Was supposed to be Concord, but the runway there is covered in ice and slush.
Supposed to reclaim the refrigerant from an old window AC for a friend that wants to scrap it, hopefully he can come by before I have to leave.

Zoe is missing the snow as the rain erases it, she climbs up on the pile I made plowing and lies down it what’s left.

RS, nice to hear from you. What ARE you doing in that shop, hiding away without a full report. Must be something good.

Nothing too exciting ... mostly a lot of clean up of the mess ...

Long ways to go.

Organizing the old cardboard which I use for firing up the double barrel stove and have a lot of.

Did get some work done with the needle scaler on the adjustable-height roller stand that I got for free from the neighbor so I can get it repainted. Probably about 1/3 done with that.

Good luck on your audiophile quest ... (y)

Mostly, latest was in an old dash camera. First dash camera i ever bought, and it might still work. I have at least 2 dead ones. The problem is the batteries die, and the units are glued shut where you can't replace them. One of the things you don't think about when you buy them.

53 deg and froggy out. Gotta go out in the fog and get a hair cut soon. will grab lunch while out.
Dentist found a couple small cavities under existing fillings (how does that happen?), so scheduled that for next month.

53F, very moist with fog @ 10:30, was only calling for a high of 51F for the day ... so we've bested that. Dense fog advisory has been extended.

Woman lost her next older brother a week ago this past Monday after a long decline. Pulmonary fibrosis got him, just like her oldest brother. Runs in the family apparently, both good men. Woman is the only one left now out of her immediate family.

Missy Cat - Mister's sister - is on her last legs, continues to whither away to a bag of bones ... but keeps holding on. Not much in the way of complaining other than an very occasional loud moan. She's been on the decline for probably about a year. She's around 18 or so and has had a pretty good run of it.

Completed another trip around the Sun a couple weeks ago. Thankful for every day I'm above ground and drawing a breath.

Ran into an issue with the washer repair, ultimately it might be resolvable - but not in any kind of time-frame that we can live with for our immediate needs.

Was looking at just going ahead and getting a (cheaper) new Whirlpool and then talked to a couple of friends that had recently replaced their washers with newer ones (agitator-less) and both commented that they weren't happy. Finally, I read the reviews the reviews on the specific one we were looking at getting and (most importantly) got The Woman to read them. No sale.

Ultimately was able to convince The Woman that going with an old-style Speed Queen TC5 was the way to go.

She really did not want to go this route due to the cost and was looking to go cheap(er) with something that would "just get us by for a few years" ... since we are both "getting old" ... ;)

I think it will be a good move - should be reliable for as long as we are still washing clothes.

So we headed down yesterday to the local appliance place and paid for it and had them set one aside for us.

And looked at new dishwashers and refrigerators while we were there !

The refrigerator is probably 25+ years old ... so it's not a matter of "if" but "when" at this point ... with the "when" likely being more sooner than later. Gotta figure a newer unit will probably be a good bit more energy-efficient as well.

Once we run over to the BMV here in a bit and renew the tag for the van, I'll put the sticker on and run on down and pick the washer up and get it brought inside and installed before the rains move in later this afternoon.

Presciptions are ready so need to run by and pick those up ... but it's in the other direction ... so might not happen until tomorrow or Monday.

Hope everyone is having a decent Thursday !

Good morning! Low of 30°, heading up to 46°. Partly to mostly cloudy, chances are good for some precip this afternoon and overnight. Rain changing to snow should make a nice mess......

Rip, sorry to hear about the toe. And sorry to hear about such a big mess to deal with.

Scott, we expect beach pictures shortly! Enjoy the time!

RS, when we have to replace our W/D, it will probably be a Speed Queen. Pricey, but worth a lot more than the disposable "new" ones.

Didn't do anything yesterday, well, I did refill the bird feeders. I probably won't do anything again today. At least I didn't get into any trouble.

Everyone have a great day!

Rswyan we have speed queens the real ticket they are 10 years still going strong. In 2007 put on 50 year roof I’ll be gone when it wears out. Redid kitchen in 2013 new appliances refrigerator, old oven, old cooktop, old dishwasher my mistake all replaced my fault all new now all same company brand nice stuff. Induction cook top almost as fast as gas. I do not like to replace house hold stuff buy for longevity therefore try to buy the best. Master bathroom redone a couple of years ago big improvement both were completely gutted. Master bathroom three windows in shower very airy if door open can see thru bedroom thru glass doors outside a double view very cool. Interesting that both cost the same but we are happy wife in particular

Drew if you figure out life expectancy say 15 years and appliance cost $5000 net cost to you per year is $334 per year refrigerator 20 to 25 $13000 $5 to 600 per year. Just figures and facts better return than car

Rswyan prayers for your wife you and her loss. I’m very sorry

We have had SpeedQueen here for quite a while, and would say they are worth the $$.
I asked a friend in the appliance repair business what he sees the least of. He told me that it was SpeedQueen hands down, went as far as to say that he would have to find a new line of work if everybody had one.
At least around here, they are only available from the old school appliance dealers, no big box stores.

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 9:30AM. Sunshine to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High 64F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.

Good to learn you've fully recovered from your second knee replacement, Don. Once your shoulder is done, we're going to have to start calling you "The Bionic Man"!

When I first saw the washer that the PO left behind, and saw it had no agitator, I thought it was broken. Nope. I can't tell if it make a difference in how it cleans the clothes, but I prefer the front loaders I have up north. I'd swap them around, but that would involve tearing the dryers apart to rejet them for propane/natural gas. Dishwasher and range here aren't anything to write home about, and the DW is making ominous noises. I've already had to touch up a lot of rust spots on the racks. Too bad Speed Queen doesn't make one.

Just about finished unpacking the last load yesterday. About three dozen small moving boxes, a few larger boxes, and two sets of shelves. Got those set up yesterday in what I'm calling the hobby room. Filled them with reloading tools and supplies I haven't seen in almost 14 years, and am going to enjoy using them again.

Going to try to figure out the coax cabling today, not sure what else I'll get into.

Hang in there, Friday's comin'...

68°F and 0 rain

Successfully spent money in town yesterday. So easy to do.

Neighbor came up in afternoon and we spent another couple hours on Scag. Fuel solenoid not working. Carburetor bowl caked with rust. Cleaning it out revealed 3 holes. New carb on order, but not expected until Feb 13th. Both baffled that engine doesn’t kick with shot of starting fluid. I’ll take the opportunity to clean the fuel system, replace the fuel lines, possibly add a separator filter.

Need to do some piddling around today. We host H&F this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
