Good Morning
42°, high of 48, overcast and foggy.

Yesterday went well. We enjoyed Christmas not being at our house, I managed to come back up after breakfast and fire up the smoker and get the pork belly finished before dinner.

I see I have a 50 dollar gift card to Home Depot from my nephew.
Haven't been there in a while.
I might see if they have free shipping on something useful.

a few days ago a very heavy box came in, with my insulation kit
for the rv engine cover, part that comes off inside the cab. Kit is a bunch of 18 inch strips
of self adhesive three ply insulation. Plus I got the required roller to roll it down. Have some heavy scissors
to cut it to customize along edges. Need to unzip the side of rv, sneak inside, pull off that cover, and a good project for a sunny
day when rv gets warmer. Whatever is left over I will use to underlay the front rubber floor mat, think I might have enough to do it all.
Then there is carpet on top of that.

if I have any leftover insulation, might see if I can secure some around
the oem Onan gen case in rear compartment. I hardly ever use that gen and it is fairly quiet but
all gens are annoying. The Onan is certainly not an inverter Honda; at least they put a long exhaust pipe on it which helps
reduce the noise.

pretty grey out but not too foggy

I'm sure Christmas 2023 wife & I will never forget! Not to sound like "Debbie Downer" but we've both had this respiratory virus 3 weeks! Both spent the day couple weeks ago in local hospital, wife has pneumonia.
To top it off Gracie cat (16 yo) hasn't been well (picture taken this summer), veterinarian put her on thyroid pills and she passed away Christmas day. We couldn't visit family and Christmas dinner was soup & sandwich!
Wow...certainly hope for better 2024. We're at least some better today.
Prayers for Fuddy and wifey to get better. Sorry about your Gracie.

I'm still only about 75-85%. Still have productive coughing. I have noticed I don't have lasting energy. I get short winded easily. (no way I could go for a long distance hike, maybe a few hundred yards). Work for a bit, then have to sit for a minute...Get out of breath and tired. I wonder if it is micro clotting?

A close friend is fighting what may be diverticulitis. Lots of pain in lower gut. Doc gave him some antibiotics. He ate real easy for a few weeks. Seems better. His Doc said "I'm going on vacation, if this flares up, go to the hospital, I can't further diagnose it in my office." The problem is my friend's dedication to his job, he's very busy, and will have to give up unused vacation at the end of the year.

32F going to 58 possibly.

Went to Katy Texas yesterday (about 100 miles) for Christmas meal. Ham, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, rolls. Yummy. They sent us home with about 2 lbs of ham and the bone. We plan to make some pinto beans.

Happy birthday to all the Christmas babies!

I pray for peace.

Good morning all. 36ºF for the start, mostly clear, moderate breeze. Forecast is for 45ºF, clouding up later today and rain tonight. Hope all had a merry Christmas. Had Christmas early in morning with granddaughter and family was able to visit brothers and sisters in one place. Later stepson's ex and her hubby came over for dinner. After all that was too tired to post :(. Will spend day visiting with GD and family and head home tomorrow.

Hope you get the energy back soon. Takes time to get over for sure

Remember when we lived in NW Houston the Katy area was wide open fields. I am sure lots of changes since. We also lived in SW Houston close to Sugarland. Man has that changed as well
I lived in SW Houston in 78-79, lived off of Bissonet in some apartments, worked in the Sugarland Reed Tool pipe factory.

Katy to me, seems to be the world's largest suburb of nice brick home, single family homes. Miles and miles of miles of boulevards with neighborhoods on both sides. Some gated communities with modern day castles... I believe it is people fleeing the problems of the city, to get into better school districts.

also lived in LaPorte/Seabrook/Clear Lake from 80- Sep82

Last lived in Houston in 1990, on the west side between Westheimer and Richmond, a few miles west of the Galleria

If I never have to live there again, I won't regret it.

65°F and no rain

Small gathering, 8, of our Happy Hour friends yesterday.

FedEx has notified it will be delivering my long awaited parts for my electric system.

Likely make a trek into town to get my plumbing fittings.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good morning! Low of 20°, heading up to a whopping 35°. Sunny and breezy. Winds were gusting all night.

Lost power at around 04:00, came back on, then around 05:30 it went out again. Temp in the house dropped to 59°. Around 06:30 went out and hooked up the generator. Ran it for about 3 hours, power back on at 09:30.

Not sure what the issue was, but we lost power multiple times over the past couple weeks, albeit only for a few minutes at a time. My guess is whatever component was failing, finally gave up it smoke.....

Fuddy, hope you and the Mrs. Get better soon. Condolences on the loss of Gracie. Always hard.

Great pics of the food and also of the people. Hope everyone had a good time yesterday.

Seems like the power has stabilized, time to tuck the genny back in the shop. (Finger crossed that the power stays on....)

Not sure if I'll do any shop time today, going to try. Not sure if I can find my mojo......

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 9:00AM, still in Orcutt. Mostly cloudy. High 64F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Hopelessly behind, not likely to catch up anytime soon.

Uneventful trip south last week, other than a nice boost in fuel mileage due to not towing a trailer.

More unpacking and organizing, spent Christmas with friends. Hiked with the dog on a local beach, did some metal detecting (forgot the shovel, so no treasure), some rides on the electric bike. Back to work on more shelves in the garage today, maybe get a start tearing down the partition between the single and double car sides.

Morning all, 43 going up to 49 and cloudy.

Had a visit from Drew bearing Nut bread, Thank you PopGadget :)

Yesterday was pretty mellow recovering from last few days.

Did find out that kids broke the sink drain in the apartment last week, luckily no real water damage, will need to get a new drain assembly.

Brought some more wood up to the house for the fireplace, last nights fire was nice and toasty.

Sorry about the cat Fuddy :-(
Feel better quick.

We will have Planked Salmon grilled up for tomorrow nights Christmas dinner with BIL/SIL.
Son is off to town with GF and wife and I have to figure out what to do, maybe movie?

Spent lots of phone time with cousins and other relatives to catch up.

Be well,

Going to PFA or MKY? We used to have a condo right on the road into MKY, it was fun planespotting from the lanai.

I never lived in Houston but while I was living in Fort Stockton I drove down to Houston for an interview. It would have been in the mid 80's, drove down in mid July or August in my old 64 IH Scout 4 cylinder 3 speed trany. When I finally got to the location for the interview I walked in and just told them there was no reason to have the interview as there was no way in he!! I was going to move down there or live there, we visited for a while and I got ready to head home what a nightmare of traffic in the late afternoon, I ended up just pulling over onto a shaded spot on the median and parking. Sitting there watching traffic and visited with a couple of police that checked up on me. Told them I was waiting for traffic to die down and then I would be the heck out of their town. About 6 or so I got started driving home again after the crazy traffic had thinned down a bit.
That was over 35 years ago I can't imagine what it's like now.

33°F and clear skies this morning, got up to 46° here today. Windy, so things dried out a bit, just in time for more rain tomorrow.

Slept through most of Christmas Day, and I feel much better today. My whole body is sore, though, from coughing. Feel like I've been beat up. No fever to speak of today, and the cough is all but gone. Unfortunately, The Wife woke up sick this morning. She made me too much delicious homemade chicken soup last night, so now she has some for herself as well.

Great pictures.

Good afternoon, gents.

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 17.5C and it's presently 19.7C, overcast with thick, misty rain & fairly calm. There was 7.4mm in the gauge @ 0900.

Yesterday dhobi done and spent the day hanging-out with my Mate from Brisbane. He'll be here until the 15th of January. :)

I'll soon call my Aunt & Sister in Burlington, Ontario (Boxing Day there) and then it's 'into town' day for mail/chemist/groceries... perhaps a trip out to a local winery as my Mate drinks white wine and, although he enjoys my reds, he's already gone through whatever whites I have/had on hand.

Tomorrow we're heading into Launie (the Big Smoke, Launceston), as I've got a big list of items to pick up, including a new Hills Hoist.

That's about it, take care all.

Today was PBI, tomorrow is APF. We very rarely go to Marco.
May I recommend Michelbob’s Ribs right across Airport-Pulling Road tomorrow? Absolutely fantastic baby back ribs! One of the places I miss going to since leaving Naples…
