Good morning!!!!

It was 13° this morning and it looks like we got a couple more inches of snow over night. Today is going to be snow showers this morning with some sun this afternoon. The high will be in the mid 20's with a 10-20 mph wind.

I'm not sure I'll even mess with the snow today. Maybe pull the sled around and pack it down. I think the block heater on the tractor is out again. Had to replace it twice last year and replaced the timer and extension cord. I'm not sure what's going on with it.

The neighbors wife did get her elk yesterday morning.

RNG ... Glad you're home safe and sound.

LS ... I'm still looking for that switch, but I can't even find the one for me. Take care of the knee.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week.
CWB.

I tried out the Dodge in the sloppy wet snow 6" deep on the driveway yesterday. Even with electronic stability control AND brand new snow tires, I am NOT impressed. As far as I am concerned the snows suck. I am going to see today if Pro-Comp 31x10.5x17s M&S tires will fit at least for the winter.
My Jeep with Pro-Comp 30x9.5x15s M&S would go through 18" of snow no problem.

I just checked and the Pro Comps are out of the question. Way too big. Oh, well, back to the drawing board.

I don't know what you have for a pickup but,
if it's a 1500 with one of the higher level trims it may not be your tires so much as your transfer case.

I do see that you are talking about 17 inch tires I have Nokian LT series studded tires on my pickup, they do a good job.

37°F and misty this morning, going all the way up to 38° today. Forecast for the next week makes it appear that our days in the 60s are now behind us.

While Eric was being awakened by the pitter-patter of rain on his roof, I was awakened near midnight by my Wife complaining of yet another mouse in the house. She'd stayed up late trying to finish a quilt, and one of the cats was chasing a mouse around in the basement porch. We'd found one earlier in the day trying to squeeze under the door going out to that porch. One of the cats alerted her to one that was making noise under the dishwasher in the kitchen, which met its demise in a snap trap under the sink just after I'd gone to bed (heard it snap all the way in the bedroom). We're not sure if they are coming in somewhere, or if they were brought it. We didn't have this problem until after the new refrigerator arrived on Friday, so it's possible they came in inside the fridge or its packaging. The limited amount of droppings we found suggests they haven't been inside very long. No more sprung traps when we got up this morning, so maybe we got them all. Time will tell.

Kyle, Andy Summers of The Police played a couple of Klein guitars back in the '90s, as did Alan Holdsworth. Those headless guitars were rather popular in the '80s and '90s, mostly because of Steinberger guitars. Steve Klein used Steinberger hardware on his electric guitars, and always credited both Ned Steinberger and Ronnie Montrose for the development of that guitar. As for the guy in Australia, I suspect it is probably a Chinese-made kit he is selling at such a low price.

Must be a wonderful feeling to finally return home and see everything with your own eyes, RNG. Your prep work seems to have served you well.

Mostly, drivers in Missouri (and Illinois, for that matter) haven't changed at all since you left. Nearly every day, I find myself muttering or even yelling, "What the **** is WRONG with you people!" :confused2:

32 here, not improving much. Big thing, no sun. I can take the cold, but no sun sucks. Meantime, I get to install a new light fixture in the downstairs bath. But gotta take the dogs for a walk first. I might get to another electrical job, but watching the new puppy is job #1.

We had a power outage last week. We found the cause in the local paper yesterday. Local Mensa member was .18 drunk, slid his truck into a really big wooden power pole. Broke it off at the base! At 80 mph. And he walked away! Had to be removed from the truck, but unhurt. In addition to a DUI, he had multiple concealed weapons on him. Pistols. Probably not gonna be able to concealed carry those anymore. I hope. But he won’t be driving for awhile anyway.

Winter driving here means that folks seem to need to relearn how to drive on snow and ice. Early in the winter, lots of vehicles sliding around. By February, not so much.

Have a good one!

Good morning to all! Low of 22° this morning, only going for a high of 36. Intermittent snows occurred yesterday, but was teetering on the freezing mark or slightly above, so the snow packed down pretty good. Now it's the hard crusty stuff. Should warm up enough over the next few days to melt most of it off, then maybe more snow Thursday night and Friday.

The knee has been pain free while at rest. Certain movements or positions will provide a quick reminder that it's not quite done healing. Much, much better this time around. Go for the surgical follow up appt tomorrow, expecting a good report.

Ron, try to baby that shoulder / arm. I'm finally at the realization that anything involving the joints is going to take time and a lot of 'babying' in order to heal.

RNG, glad to hear that you're slowly getting daily life back to some assemblance of order.

Drew, maybe you'll find some interesting items in the shed? Sounds like you've got some work ahead of you.

PJ, I have always been amazed at how mice get into things, but usually ask myself why they decide on a particular area. A few years ago, they decided to populate the attic area. The first question was "how the heck are they getting up there?" Never was able to determine that, but ended up trapping around 20 of the little buggers. It was ongoing for about 6 weeks, getting one about every other day. As fast as they came, it was over. Still have traps up there, but haven't caught anything in a couple years since.

Crazy weather this past weekend, couldn't believe the number of December tornadoes.

Everyone have a great start to the week, stay safe and fly under the radar....
Prayers and thoughts sent for all!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!

32F with light snow, mixing in with frozen drizzle, drizzle, and heavy fog and freezing fog. The fog burned off here around 8:00AM, but there were pockets of heavy fog heading down into the Valley to take Brogen to the vetç—´ for a nail trimming. Heç—´ too big for the built-in floor scale, but it looks like he is close to 160# (fat). It took the usual 3 on 1 to get those nails trimmed, but the humans prevailed.

RNG- I am glad that you had the foresight to make provision for fire, are finally home and you were one of the lucky homeowners. Thanks for sharing.

Ted- I knew that I should not encourage/enable you :embarrassed:, but those flip up/down crutch/cane crampons really work on ice so it was a matter of safety>enabling and in the Spring you can go around your yard to pick up loose paper with the crampon tip.:cool: I am happy to read that you are taking some care of you knee.

At this point it still looks like the higher elevations in interior midAtlantic states will be in the best location for decent snow. It looks like this Sunday/Monday system will track too far south and east to give interior NE much snow.

Ron- You are welcome. That weather site makes me do research and homework just to get an idea of what some of those brainiacs are posting about.

PJS- I run a mouse trapline every Winter once the mice start moving in here.

I hope the everyone has a decent start to this workweek.

My + thoughts, prayers, and wishes.

PJ, I have always been amazed at how mice get into things, ...

When we caught the one under the door, it was about as flat as a quarter. I thought it was dead. It started to move when I reached down to pick it up, and was trying to fluff himself back up as I was carrying him outside.

Crazy weather this past weekend, couldn't believe the number of December tornadoes.

Saw a video someone took of one crossing I-55 near Staunton, IL. Watched it tear up a classic car place just off the highway. Incredible to see big chunks of buildings just float up into the air like that.

Took a 3 day weekend, enjoyed the break. I am having back issues again, sharp pain in lower back, intermittent, but when it hits, it certainly stops me cold. It is not a muscle strain as we thought originally, so will keep an eye on it, it has gotten much better the last few days so that is good news.

RNG, glad you are home safe with minimal damage.

I enjoy the updates from the TBN family and am thankful for being part of that family..

Randy, I think we will be very near the rain /snow line Sunday-Tuesday and I expect some wet snow, but no major accumulation. Then I think we are going warm for Christmas.

RNG, great news! I hope you all have a good day. God bless.
