Kyle, pretty sure the passivation won't hold up at temperatures high enough to make the metal glow, but you shouldn't get anywhere close to that unless you like charcoal for dinner. Once you get the grill "seasoned" with drippings, that should keep it from rusting anyway. Watch out for those edges on the expanded metal! I use the same stuff in the floor of the bead blaster, and it'll slice open a finger before you know it if you give it any chance at all.

Will be careful. As I hope you will too with your situation.

I bet he had some stories, and close calls. Many did not want to talk about it. War can make people not be people.

"Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans—living or dead—but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.

Veterans Day occurs on November 11 every year in the United States.

In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day.

In 1968, the Uniform Holidays Bill was passed by Congress, which moved the celebration of Veterans Day to the fourth Monday in October. The law went into effect in 1971, but in 1975 President Gerald Ford returned Veterans Day to November 11, due to the important historical significance of the date.

Great Britain, France, Australia and Canada also commemorate the veterans of World War I and World War II on or near November 11th: Canada has Remembrance Day, while Britain has Remembrance Sunday (the second Sunday of November).

In Europe, Great Britain and the Commonwealth countries it is common to observe two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. every November 11."

Please take time to thank other Veterans for their Service and pray for those who have passed.

My Dad sure did have some close calls in WWII. And no, he didn’t want to talk about it much, despite the fact that my father in law kept pestering him to do so. My FIL was too young to serve. My dad‘s 100th birthday would have been about this time next year. He made it all the way to 91, but he’s no longer with us. I used to call him up every November 11, to thank him again for his service. Always brought a tear to my eye. He and all of his three siblings who were old enough to serve made it back safely. A lot of others didn’t. God bless them all.

Both wife and I on regular Medicare with Tricare as secondary. No complaints. Copays for prescriptions, but we only have 2 active and from time to time get some sort of med billing, but never a lot. We are blessed being relatively healthy for our ages. Wife is classified totally, permanently disabled but we still think of her as healthy with no real ailments. She does take CBD oil for her pain issues.
