Hmmm, as I catch up, the talk of ISS reminds me that the first night at my friend's place, we were awakened by a wee hours launch of another SpaceX rocket. It rattled the windows quite loudly for the better part of a minute, upsetting the dog so badly she was shaking. Then a few minutes later we were hit by the loudest sonic boom I've ever heard. I think it was the first stage booster reentering the atmosphere.

On the 28th of December there's another launch scheduled for 10:30PM, and I plan to be there and awake to watch it.

You know, heated biker clothes this week is not a bad idea, however I would not know where to plug them in on the Kubota. The windchill is supposed to be zero Friday when I am scheduled to work.
I have purchased 12V electrical plugs for my electric jacket at the local John Deere dealer, Don. Maybe you could make up a temporary hook up using the alligator clips from a battery charger and an adapter to whatever fitting comes on your electrically heated jacket. Mine uses a two pin SAE connector. Here's an adapter to go from the John Deere (BMW) connector to SAE. Or you could make up something using cigarette lighter connectors.

FWIW, on the way home Tuesday it was in the mid 30s when I left, and never got above 50. I had the hand grip and jacket heaters on full blast all day, and the only chilly parts were my legs. Should have worn my sweat pants over my regular pants for an extra layer.

Not looking forward to A 49F temp drop today but thankfully it was 55F yesterday.

Went by Peddlars village so she could get some cookie cutters and stamps last night. Lights look good, very crowded. Saw some friends there, so that was fun. Probably just missed you PopG.

On the way had to stop for the New Hope Steam train, fun to watch it go by, wonder how crowded with $100+ tickets.

It sure was crowded Ken, easy to miss someone, hard to find a parking spot!

DIL said she looked for tickets on the “Santa Express”, it was over $600 for 4 adults and a 3 year old, but none were available for the time slot she wanted.
We did hear the whistle while at peddler’s village though.

36F snow, sleet, rain. YUCK. Saw the salt truck go by earlier.

It was supposed to hit 40F yesterday. I thought it was the best chance for one final mow at the farm. There were a fair number of leaves on the ground. Still some leaves in the trees. I was surprised to be cutting grass. I got pretty cold. Guess I didn't have the right clothes on. It felt pretty good to get in the truck and turn on the heat. That's probably it till April.

Popgadget, what is the expression? More fun than a barrel of puppies. :giggle:

Hope everyone is ready.

Chris

Home from dentist, wasn’t as bad as I expected. 2 new crowns. $$$
Insurance only covered half of 1 of them. Apparently my root canal this summer used up much of my allowance.
Rain snow mix, roads were slushy. 32° at home.

Good morning to all! Low of 26°, going up to the high 40's. Today is supposed to be very windy, gust to 55-60 mph. Unfortunately, no precip associated with this cold front. The high tomorrow will only be 32°.
I believe you guys in S. Texas will be colder than here.

Rip, prayers and thoughts are with your wife for a successful procedure and recovery.

RNG, good to hear of another fun trip! Hope you are able to figure out the reserve tank problem.

Drew, cranberry muffins sounds tasty.....

PopG, puppy anticipation at its best! They are really cute! Absolutely the best Christmas present! ... early arrival!

BEF, glad the dentist visit wasn't too bad / long. Sorry about the cost.

Not much on the agenda, I'll be the cleanup committee for some food prep. It will be too windy outside to do anything else. Plus, 2 grandsons are here while the son is at work.

Riding one of the stream trains is on my bucket list. It will probably be the Durango train, that's a bit more scenic than the Cumbres.

Why is it that family drama always shows up at the holiday time? Started yesterday.... continued this morning.... I'm staying out of it!
I got flanked by my personal demons after passing a nasty crash on the way back from Colorado..... can't get a few memories out of my thoughts.... I don't need any more on the plate....

Finishing the first cup of coffee, Today will definitely be a 2 cupper.....

Everyone have a great day!

I had all my teeth changed to crowns. The teeth were all in bad shape. Cost a lot $$$$. Did not take long for the dentist to get them ready for the mold and get the temps in.

I know about family dramas around holidays and avoid it as much as possible. Seems like holidays brings this out.

I am old enough to remember travel by steam trains. Always exciting and lots of smoke and steam around the platforms

On the thumb it has two speeds that can be changed inside the cab on the control panel. The slow speed is good for more delicate work and allows pick up of smaller items.
The fast speed is good for bigger items and saves time on waiting for the grab

69°F and .04 inches rain

Semi productive day yesterday. Good Dr visit, now wait for contact from surgeons office, likely beginning of the year

Trip to Safeway a bit expensive. Prime Rib roast on sale 7.99lb. Significantly better than last week’s $15lb. Limit of 1 roast per loyalty card. Found one almost 24lb that will 3 roasts in the freezer.

Should get back to mowing today.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Forgot to mention that gas was $6.79/gallon at the first stop coming home on Tuesday. Sheesh, talk about gouging! It was right on I5 just outside of a little place called Kettleman City. Middle of nowhere, so not much choice. Another 4.6 gallon fillup that got me 181 miles down the road. 450 miles in 7 hours 20 minutes, with two short stops for fuel. Days like that have me really looking forward to a Prius. Or a Niro. Or maybe an Ioniq. Lots of choices in hybrid cars these days...

One of these tables are handy for holding wood items for carving, sanding etc. You sit on it and put the feet on the lever that holds the wood piece

Good afternoon! 44 now, likely to there for a while according to the weather app, then a big drop tonight. Next couple of days are gonna be chilly.

decided to make the smoked Mac and cheese for this weekend festivities today based on the forecast. It is smoking now. Wife said it smelled really good when I was taking it out to the smoker. Looked good, having one of those days I can smell almost nothing.

got a gate in the barn to fix, then May putter in the garage. Got several little welding projects for my BIL next week. This will probably cost me 2 30 packs of Busch Lite.

need to move more wood to the house to be ready for the weather change. Better get moving.

Everyone stay safe out there.

I should know better than to work on heavy stuff when tired. Taking metal shelves down, one twisted and compress my finger tip. Lots of blood, not fun, sure it'll hurt more tomorrow. On ice now.
Hopefully not too damaged.

Owwww!

i can sympathize - I often tell people “in spite of my mother’s best efforts, my hands do not look like this because of 7 years of piano lessons. . .”
