Good morning! Now that we have the oven educational class out of the way and all the pillow talk phone batteries are recharged we can get on to business.

60˚ heading to 77˚ cloudy. No freezing temps forecasted for the next 10 days so the little beans growing have a bit more time to grow, the potatoes are looking good also just hope they bloom in the next few days.

Thomas you are a regular Home Depot for the little chipmunk, I bet she appreciates it with winter approaching.

Woke in the middle of the night, looked up at the sky through the roof window and happened to see a shooting star pass over. Is this a sign it's going to be a magical day, or should I be out buying triffid herbicide ?

Had to look up those triffid plants, maybe you should use your new gun on them forget about spraying them.
Triffid - "(in science fiction) one of a race of predatory plants that are capable of growing to a gigantic size and are possessed of locomotor ability and a poisonous sting."

Drinking first cup of coffee. 33° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 41° with cloudy skies. Never got to speed reducer project yesterday. Wife wanted to go shopping. Stocked up on the things for a long winter stay in the house. Not me, my wife. Sam's club had a La Crosse weather station on sale for $69. I probably got what I paid for. It's suppose to hook up to WU and Smartphone. But reviews do not look good for that option. All though it does work good with it's own monitor. Before I get to play with it I need to get Trak-Vac hooked up to lawnmower. Lawn is still wet from weekend rains. But may dry up later today or tomorrow.
Good Morning All.

Turned out to be a lot easier just to write in the names since this wasn't some kind of presentation document.
Need to order my seed potatoes soon for the Spring. They go by acre, not linear row length, but I have an approx sq footage.
Everything will be done in little rows, will use tractor as much as possible. Will only attach deer netting on one side of fenced area by a few tie downs, so I can loosen one whole side
and get the tractor in there.

Will probably be 95% non GMO and similarly all heirloom seeds. Thought about an expensive transplanter, think I'm going to wait on that for first year. Let me make sure things grow here
before investing in yet another specialty tool. Just not sure of what to plant by seed and what to transplant from seedlings I grow. Seems the latter, though more work, would be more successful. Have ordered seed planting supplies from a local company, through Amazon interestingly, who makes extra heavy trays. I'm growing all these seedlings in my sun room, which unfortunately does not get a lot of afternoon sun, so will probably add some grow lights. Going to drive to the planting supply company and go over my garden plan with them, get the right planting mix, etc.

will be able to use area between rows of nut trees for two or three years before those trees get big enough to block the sun.

The seeds I plant directly will likely be done with a simple Earthway push planter. For the size I'm dealing with, totally not cost effective to automate, but...if this works and I rent more land from neighbor, it might be worthwhile. Plus it's fun...

Sandy soil, should be good for potatoes and carrots.
Winter dreams of Spring planting. Something to look forward to.

Don, I'm going to "harvest" my little collard patch and one half will get cooked with some kind of pork product, as 100 percent of the locals cook it,
but I'd like to do the other half without meat. Any suggestions for a healthy non meat collard recipe that is reasonably simple and good?

think I got all the bugs out by alleged organic sprays but I guess you just cut around the chomped parts. Not sure I want cabbage worm drool in my dinner.

If you leave the cabbage worm on the collards, then you don't need to spend money on pork and you get your meat, too. :D

Drew, I really don't use collards just kale, but I suppose you could just cut it up and add it to a spicy vegetable soup. I used to work in a grocery store in South Houston (Pyburns, Kyle) and collard greens or mustard greens with hog jowls were very popular.

Good morning!!!! 49ー F and clear in Cambria California. Heading north to Palo Alto today to visit an old friend and will likely get wet, but so far the weather has been perfect. A little overcast yesterday morning coming north from the Salton Sea. Desolate, baron ground in that area, all high desert. Good to see the rolling grass Hills and oaks of the coast ranges yesterday afternoon. Have some nice pictures but there doesn't appear to be any way to share them using Safari on the iPhone so maybe tomorrow after I get back. The TractorByNet app doesn't work anymore on this iPhone.

Glad to see you all busy texting with Don's mom and keeping Eric's wife apprised of his industriousness.

Randy, if you run out of things to cook we could probably start sending you our favorite recipes. What do you think about that?

At some point Don it would be a good idea to show your mom how voice recognition helps on the iPad. It might relieve her of typing all together. I'm using it for this post right now and it seems to be working pretty well.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start

Good morning! Now that we have the oven educational class out of the way and all the pillow talk phone batteries are recharged we can get on to business.

Well, there goes all the fun.

Ghost in the basement didnt get me this morning. Probably the ghost of the old washing machine that now sits unconnected, awaiting its outcome. Wife wants me to make a hookup for it in my utility room, to wash the really dirty stuff. Got a lot of work to make that happen, but some of that work needs done anyways.
Still got an old boiler than made heat pre geothermal. Then i want to move water heater to other side of room, next to geo unit, so it can help heat water. That will free up space next to a drain pipe that i can hook washer discharge into. Just gotta play plumber again to make it happen.
