Our Christmas staple is lasagna and a ham, small side of candied sweet potatoes, creamed onions, garlic rolls, cranberry relish and pies.

Quote - “ LS, you look to have been having fun. Has your MIL got her big surprise yet? “ - Eric

No, she still does not know. The BIL and SIL will be flying in tomorrow afternoon (Christmas eve), MIL will not be arriving until Christmas Day, coming in with my daughter from Colorado. It has been really hard to not slip up and mention something about it. There were a few close calls for sure....

Wifey also reminded me that we will be having lasagna also for dinner tomorrow! I can see the pounds waiting around the corner.....

Yeah...must be dementia moving in...
I'm still at work, BTW...and glad I came in. The plant manager gave me a fifth of Jameson Irish Whiskey!!

Nice....wait til you get to your block to partake.

Congrats on making 6K, Mostly

Yes Mostly, congrats on 6K.

Dave, I'll bet your still tired/achy from all those bags of 'crete. Good job.

We are planning to have enchiladas on Christmas. I've had enough ham in the last month. Instant pot pinto beans cooked charo style. Maybe some salad for others. :) Maybe some 7 layer dip as a snack.

Been up north of Fort Worth visiting family. BIL has a nice room for his guitars. They are empty nesters and his wife is usually at work, so he can play his fender strat just about anytime he wants.

Prayers for our team and families.

Was 32F and like Don said, Jack Frost everywhere....going to 70F!!!

We are planning to have enchiladas on Christmas.

Makes me miss our old friends/next door neighbors of Hispanic origin. That was a Christmas tradition and they made theirs a little different from what we were accustomed to in Texas, but stlll very good. They came to Texas from Kansas City and eventually went back there when they retired.

Pretty much recovered now Kyle. Just waiting, hoping, for decent enough wx to get it finished and move on to next phase. Today we’re getting spates of windy, cold rain interspersed with short bouts of sun, not at all conducive to tasks at hand.

Today’s low was a mostly sunny 35ºF and today’s high temperature was a mostly sunny 54ºF. It was a hectic day today. I dropped the R-1”s off with the tire center (ready tomorrow at 8:30AM), took a wasted trip to the local butcher/smokehouse who unexpectedly closed and then a trip down to the “Big City” to get meds, groceries, dog treats, and “supplies”;) (treats for me). Wifey had a rather poor night last night due to pain which started before dinner so the family recipe brisket and latkes planned dinner for last night will be tonight’s. The extra cooking should not hurt the (smoked) brisket.

Peg- Is much better today.

We found out today that our Health Insurance will not cover out of country ER bills submitted in Spanish. Like the entire corporation does not have one Spanish speaking employee.:(

Don- I am happy to read that your Dad made his decision more on his terms than anyone else. Personally I like using shopping carts except when unattended in parking lots.

I have a 50” something wall mounted TV which I installed with Wifey’s assistance. I did a decent job with the wall mount; next time a professional will do it if necessary.

Ted- A nicely dug trench. I rarely get a pic of what I cook; I am usually to :censored: hungry. :embarrassed: Nice bags.

“…. Ron will be interesting to see how she handle the backward brake usage.”- Bruce. An interesting concept; tired hands may make for some sudden unexpected stops.

Eric- Thanks for explaining how some expended toilet paper rolls are recycled.

Roy- One benefit of working vacations/holidays is that supervisory personnel are not really focused on work. I agree with Thomas. The CT River Valley was under a temperature inversion today which kept nasty particulate matter and ozone at ground level. It did make for a pretty sunrise.

Paul- I celebrate Jewish holidays with my stomach. Wifey who has clergy ancestors that go back to the late 1600’s on this continent insists that I light the Menorah. … and sing the prayer(s)

“… Another of my favorites is potato latkes...mmm, mmmm.”- Ted I’ve refined my Mom’s recipe to include the use of our Cuisinart®. Definitely good eats that I will soon start making. I have less than + thoughts and wishes for “neighbors” like yours/those. We have a similar problem here and it really screwed the guy from whom we buy our firewood. :( We are zoned agriculturally.

“…. I'm still at work, BTW...and glad I came in. The plant manager gave me a fifth of Jameson Irish Whiskey!!”- Roy Sometimes the extra effort pays off.

Lou- Your Christmas staple read like good eats. I’ll be smoking a boneless leg of lamb for Christmas. That and rosemary encrusted baked potatoes. The supermarket where I usually shop today closely resembled the traffic patterns in CR. :(

An interesting day.

My + thoughts and prayers.

Turkey and stuffing, brussel sprouts and a big old sweet potatoe for me. White spuds for stepson and step D-I-L.

I was supposed to go to the town south of me tomorrow, but that got cancelled.

My question is, did the bottle of Jamesons make it home?:)

Another above normal temp and sunny day in Ohio. Almost 50 again today. Been busy getting things ready for Christmas.

Spent some time on my cargo trailer conversion into a ghetto camper/toy hauler. Finally quit due to planning issues with the toilet area. Decided to do some garage stuff and had the 兎ureka moment. While doing some motorcycle type work, figured out how to configure the bath area. Back outside...sure enough, it will work. Now I can move forward finally. Odd how that works.

Lots of running around today. Got half of the items I had on my want. Was headed to local sports store to pick up a exercise bike. Thought why not give FaceBook Market Place a look. Found a almost new one that had been listed for about half hour before I looked. Less than 1/2 price of new. Had to drive out to near where Irv (300guy) lives. People got their 3 grandsons to disassemble it and get it into my car. They actually new how to use hand tools. Now I have to put it back together.
Stopped at a camera shop to get some info on how to do a couple things with camera Very nice fellow helped me out. Let me try what I need for a lens. Bought a couple of gadgets. Found the lens he showed me on Facebook market place. Like new. Will pick that up later this week when I can get to bank and for some cash. Another less than 1/2 of new.
I need a couple of conserve energy days.

Hit low 50s today, 35 now. Having Christmas dinner at step daughter’s house, we are taking turkey and ham, she will multiple sides.
I’ve cut way back on my eating, so I’m not too worried about exactly what they have. Still gotta wrap two gifts, but I’m about ready.
I had to to Target to exchange a gift card for my grandson, long boring story. Then got breakfast, then hit Sam’s Club, bank, grocery store, etc...
You guys have sure been busy!
Have a good night and God bless.

Good evening all. 30F for the start, fog, calm wind. Fog lifted by 10, wind stayed light, high temp was 60F. Trip to town to start the day. After getting home leaf pick 3 1/2 bags today, then nap and dinner out (Mexican).
Thanks for the support for breaking 6K. Third time in three years, top mileage 6182 miles. I have gotten up to 6K miles on a rear tire, fronts don't wear near as fast.
Eric, my family would have crackers at birthday partys but pull solo. As far as wearing the paper crowns there is no photographic proof:rolleyes:
Drew glad dinner went well, you are due a few days off during winter!
Roy, I hate it when that happens.
Thomas good luck getting chores done.
RNG hop ride continues to go well.
Rick sorry about the dry ash, none of your pics will open.:confused2:
When we had big Christmas get togethers in STL had ham and turkey. Now it changes every year.
PJ, wife used to make a mean chicken and dumplings(not the noodle dumplings). She hasn't in a long time. Always had fun with theold board games it was just getting people started the was the problem.
Ted, not enough time and weather outlook not that good after Christmas. Will be surprised if I break 6200. Nice bags.
Hawkeye, hope you can get the code dealt with. Have you checked online to see what others have done to get ride of code.
Roy, that is one way to get you to show up for work :D
Jay, sorry to hear about Pegs painful night, glad to hear all is better today. Seems like medical insurance is in the business of not paying
Ron hope you can get bicycle back together, what kind is it?
prayers for all.

Good Morning!!!! Actually, it's more like good evening, about 10:30 out on the west coast. Spent most of the day at the Palm Springs Air Museum, and found lots of new things to see. Had some interesting and heart warming conversations with the docents about their personal involvement with some of the aircraft, both in war and peace, and since almost everything there is a warbird, and the museum does a wonderful job explaining the roles and players in WWII, some significant time taken to appreciate the sacrifices involved, over and over and over again to win that war. And also the ingenuity in the original designs or what it took to make so many of them and make them work well. I stood in front of an F104 Starfighter, amazed it would ascend at 48,000 feet per minute, the speed of a .45 Colt Automatic hardball bullet. And do it for miles standing in its tail, not just feet like the bullet. The weather was slightly damp and it was a weekday, so nothing was flying or even running, but we did get a peek under a couple maintenance hatches on a P-51 Mustang a couple of mechanics were working on. Also learned of the most expensive air disaster to date, the collision of another F104 with an XB70 bomber in 1966, which led to the loss of several crew and both aircraft. Later in the museum's library, another docent tried to find the photographs taken at the time in their nearly complete collection of Life magazines, but was unsuccessful. But he did find issues that covered the birthdays of my two friends, and my how sensibilities changed over the last fifty or sixty years.:p

By the time we were worn out enough to leave, it was just about dinner time, so we headed over to a very well reviewed steakhouse, and oh my, those reviews were well earned. That small fillet was easily the best piece of meat I've tasted all year, and it was cooked to perfection. It was preceded by a Bourbon that was new to me, and now I'll have to find some shelf space for Blantons. Very smooth, lots of caramel, thoroughly enjoyable. :licking: Surprisingly for a group of meat'n'potatoe lovers, we also enjoyed garlic laced asparagus and steamed brocolli, also cooked to crisp perfection. All washed down by a very nice bottle of Zinfandel. I could have purchased a premium set of tires for the touring bike for what my share of the meal cost, but it was worth every bite.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, my buddy's rooms still didn't have hot water when we returned for the day, in spite of more empty promises from the motel staff. Two of us took a little stroll out back and found the offending water heater, and adjusted the temperature control from a very low setting to something very much more appropriate, giving my friend ample ammunition for ripping the motel manager a new one shortly there after. At least the hot tub was hot, but from the sounds of things at about 5AM (my room is about ten feet away from it), a couple had decided to use it to, er, couple, and with the other obvious maintenance issues, two of us decided to watch TV instead tonight.

We're only about 150 miles away from San Diego at this point, and with good weather on the way tomorrow, it looks like we'll be taking the long way around instead of the freeways. There's a snakey little road that goes up to the Mount Palomar Observatory, which I'm hoping we can work in...

Started getting the cough coming home from work. Now woke up nauseous. My son had this Sunday, so now my turn. Hope my wife doesn’t get it as tomorrow is her Bday. If it’s not one thing it’s another.
Will read and try to get sleepy.

30 right now...and it's not going to get any warmer today, the predicted high is 31.

Left work about 1300 yesterday...I was waiting for a customer concession to come through and it finally did. That allowed us to ship product before New Year's and made my boss very happy! Guess I earned that bottle of Jameson's.
No real plans today, but if I can get my pressure washer out of the garage, I might wash the salt off the truck...
