Good morning!!!!

I'm not feeling good about this at all. All of a sudden I have alarm bells going off in my head.

What is it about modern times that makes us feel bad about being a good neighbor so often?

Good morning! Residual side effect of the electric fence shock have gone and slept well. It was a shock being force to grasp the barbs on the barbwire, people should not electrify barbed wire - not fun being punctured and shocked at the same time.

Ron, your area is pretty consistent with being 10˚ warmer each day.

Don....Your electric fence shock reminded me of a friend of mine....Sr. yr. of high school..Dale, my friend and I took all our camping and fishing gear and drove an hour to a lake to rent a row boat , row to a campsite along the bank and then spend the night and next day fishing....We set up our tent and everything else and I was getting my fishing pole set up....All of a sudden I heard the most blood curdling scream and then a lot of expletive deletes...and here came Dale bent over and moaning....He said he peed in the woods and something stung him...I went to look and found the electric fence sign hidden under some vines...He had peed directly on the electric fence...He had to go home...so he sat down while I broke camp , loaded the boat and rowed back to turn the boat in....just 2 hrs after we had arrived.....I don't remember if it turned out serious or not...I dropped him off at home and I'm sure he told me but it has been 50 yrs...long time...

Good Morning All.

Mornin' All, 41 and raining. We had hard rain and wind overnight. Looks like we are in for a couple of days of rain. I'm almost glad to be on the wet side of this storm but now that I have gotten started on winter clean up I'm ready to dig in The rain is going to lead to mud. If I try to get started too soon I will just make a big mess. If I wait too long the foliage will be out and make the whole job harder if it can be done at all. Hope it won't be that kind of year.

Chris, I'm not hearing the alarm bells about being a good neighbor. My concern is actually that I will follow my neighbor's instructions and then he will have a failing septic system because we did not correctly complete the system. I'm going to show him a PDF file from Texas A&M that clearly shows proper absorption field design and let him know I want to help him do this right. "Modern times" has nothing to do with cutting corners and making bad decisions based on lack of knowledge. I want this neighbor to tell stories about his 'hard headed' neighbor who kept him from making a costly mistake. Perhaps, you interpreted my intentions incorrectly. This is a new neighbor who is becoming a good friend. I want to keep it that way.:)

Frosty start to the morning with a mix of cloud and blue sky. Will get rain later as another weather front moves in. High of 6C/43F. Will get back at cutting firewood rounds, had to stop yesterday as the wind and rain started in the late morning.

Jim, I see what you are getting at. I'm sorry that I am not a better writer. I was talking about having to worry about liability when working off our property. And about how quick people can be to turn to lawyers to solve their problems.

How does that old saying go: "There are three kinds of men, the one who learns by reading, the few who learn by observation, and the rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves..." (Attributed to Will Rogers)

Old Will got it right, because I knew it was there, but it was dark! People think it's like a typical AC shock, not at all, no sensation of electrical shock. It feels like you laid him on a brick and hit him 60 times a second with a maul!:D

Good morning all. 31F this morning with snow flurries. High was 36 and some accumulating snow.
Worked on the shift indicator light on the Saturn. Remove the driver seat to remove rear console to remove the front console to remove top trim panel to replace bulb. will have close to 6 hrs when done :(

Isn't it amazing how such a supposedly simply repair requires so long to complete? My ex had a '93 Cutlass with the 3.4 liter V6 and the alternator failed. An "easy" fix? No. Remove the exhaust system at the intake manifold, part of the front suspension, and raise the motor slightly to remove the rear cradle, among other things, before you can remove the alternator. Brilliant engineering. I think most of todays cars are purposely designed and built so you will just give up and take it to the dealership so they can screw you over at $100 an hour.

I looked at your pictures yesterday and could just 'hear' the ice popping/cracking in the trees and falling to the ground. Those ice storms are really pretty until the power goes out and you have to drive in black ice on the roads.
