62 degrees. 1 1/2 inches of rain and a 2.0 earthquake that shook my whole house. Thought a tree fell on the place.

Got what I wanted at Lowe's. 4' oak stair tread. Now I have to cut it to size and finish it. Not today. Too damp and cold.

Phil- I read your post. No quake here, but I am pretty shakey on a good day and might not have noticed. The report that I read had the quake at 2.2. I am glad that there were no quake related incidents with you. I did not see any damage reports yet.

I am at a foggy 42ºF presently. 1.9" of rain registered at our town's safety complex. There is a decent storm dry slot heading my way. I do not need/want any more rain.

All our dogs had ways of expressing their needs. Brogen is the first dog we've ever had that ''toots.''

Drew- I could see a "400" blood sugar spike with that almond custard coffee cake. It does look good.

The driveway is as good as it will be for this round of ice management. Fortunately the driveway is still frozen; the scarifiers on the boxblade did not/could not get too much of a bite; there is one section they just skitter around still. High dew points and snowpack = fog. A foggy, rainy 43コF presently.

Lucky you, mine's thawed and soft 56F only dropping to 41 tonight then slowly cooling Sat.
Feed lots pure mud and muck had to go out in them took my boots off and threw them in the back of the truck, drove home in sock feet.

Power co just brought in a pole. Going out to eat.

Lou- There are a lot of very unhappy people who depend on weather conditions for their livelihood this year around here in the NE CONUS. Your feed lots read like a major challenges this year.

I have two 1'X1' areas by our two main entrances where I can doff and don outerwear and footwear w/o agitating the wife too badly. It seems that all my footwear is designed to literally suck up mud and debris through the snow. My life would probably be better if I used the cellar door to exit and enter.

I am really hoping the weather pattern changes midJanuary as modeled. I doubt that some of my property's area will freeze solid this year due to soil saturation.

Down to58 after a high of 66 today. Can’t find where we had a quake, but we got a good rumble late afternoon.

I know the Garmin is at least a year behind because I just updated and on the first trial location, the neighborhood grocery store - Randall's - that opened a year ago, it was not listed under nearby grocery stores. Otherwise it is working better than my pervious Garmin. It says to take a left on xyz street and then take the second left. Plenty time to turn into the right lane and get ready for the next turn. The volume is plenty loud for us hard of hearing ( had to turn volume to 50% so wife would not get blasted out I could hear it easily at 80% volume). It was a bright sunshine day and the screen was easily readable. it did not get upset and say turn around it adapted and changed routes. I like to go .1 mile further to hit a red light instead of trying to cross 4 lanes. It connected to my phone Garmin traffic app smoothly but there were no traffic problems so I didn't really get to test that feature.

The speed limit and the speed I was going was accurate. It did not say the speed limit in the neighborhood only on the major roads.

Tomorrow I get to see if it says the street wrong like the other Garmin. It is Ronald W. Reagan Blvd not Ronald West Reagan Blvd.

It did name the closest 50 vegan/vegerterian restaurants. (But it had to reach out to San Antoino and Houston.)

It's 5:45 P.M. and almost dark on this shortest daylight day of the year! In mid Summer 5P.M. is the hottest time of the day.

Buckeye, hope you got all of your pre-holiday cooking done, or have a gas stove or generator.

well, the rain changed to sleet and then snow. By the time I got to the west end of North Bay I had 1/2" of snowy ice on my license plate and the grill was about totally closed off.
The ESC (Electronic Stability Control) on my Dodge sucks in deeper snow. It wont let the engine rev any higher than 2000 rpm. Thanks to that I got stuck in my driveway. Suddenly realised it was on and shut it off, gassed on her and out she came.
The driveway is totally destroyed, but the good thing is that I will be plowing in the morning. We are supposed to get a couple more inches tonight.

Walked out back and looked down to the creek, guys working. Looks like a pole is up, and a bucket at the top. Maybe will get power back tonight. Now bright moonlight, can see without flashlight.

Good evening all. 35F this morning, calm wind, mostly clear sky. Wind stayed light to moderate, sky stayed mostly clear, and high temp was 57F. First order of business was go over to stepdaughter's house so the window people could measure. He showed up 1 1/2 hours late :(. Was supposed to go to Sherman, wife did not want to start that late. So went for the bike ride instead. After lunch nap and dog walk finished the day.
RNG , I understand some of your issues with Garmin. The map that resides in the etrex has some real goofy issues, Asked Garmin and they said they could not replicate the behavior, and believe that some of the data in the map was faulty. Will update you when I get the map. I can tell the etrex not to recalculate, draw the route in base camp, then send to GPS and no issues. on POIs, even when using 6-8 yo POI data had pretty good hit rate. When starting to use the old GPS V, near Fresno, CA, it recalculated on me when I did not start at the preprogramed start point. Turns out it used a emergency exit as a through road. We knew we were lost, stopped and asked for directions, turns out I was not the first one to follow a GPS back there:rolleyes:
David neat pressure washer pics
Roy, great news on Bella. :drink:
Never took the loader of my tractor, was afraid I would never get it back on:ashamed:
prayers for all.

This just in from the weather office.

TransCanada Weather

While the weather has been fairly quiet the past little while for major cities in Canada, we at TCW expect a hefty shift in the overall pattern for many.

A strong ridge in far Northern Canada will push colder air down south, particularly for Ontario and Quebec beginning Sunday, December 30th. This trend will likely continue from January and right through February - although become more severely augmented at certain times than others, rather than being entirely consistent.

What this means is once the New Year approaches, ups and downs of cooler to much colder temperatures will arise with likely rounds of slow-moving storms producing snow.

At this time the first bout of active weather for Eastern Canada appears to be in a Dec 28-29 to Jan 4 time-frame.

For many residents in Central and Western Canada, seasonal to seasonally above-normal (and somewhat dry) conditions can be expected - particularly the further west you reside.

More information and analysis will be posted and drawn upon near Boxing Day morning.

55 here this morning. What odd weather. J.brumberg-yes this rain is definitely making life miserable. I haven’t been able to do any work in my yard this fall. Everything is just to wet.

Blame the strong pacific jet stream and a moderate ElNino for the wild weather and a sudden stratosphere warming event which dislodges the polar jet and sends it south but not sold on its staying power. In the end by Spring we on the east coast start to enter a very long drought

No particular plans today...dump is closed for the Christmas holiday, so no run there. I do need to get some ice melt and beer though...
