Good morning to all! Low of 28, going up to 53. Wind was relentless yesterday, finally subsided sometime last night.

Cough came back with a vengeance last night as soon as I laid down to sleep. Hardly coughed all day and thought I was over it. Had to get up and take some cough syrup. That took care of it in about 15 minutes so I could fall asleep.

Nice picture Drew. Are you thinking of trying something with the Massey?.....your's would probably be more permanent with ruts on the lawn however....

Had a set of candy cane lights that wouldn't turn on last night. Tried for a minute or two to see if it was just a connection, but it was way too windy and cold to stay and fiddle with them. That's on the agenda for today, then PT. hopefully it's an easy fix.

Everyone have a great day, prayers sent.

Good morning! 50 ˚F, windy and sunny.

With all the trade this week we dropped the GPS, it cracked and no longer works so it lookalike another must buy "Family" christmas gift will be under the tree. The iPhone does not have all the neat features that our Garmin nuvi 3450 had so we will be looking for another Garmin. Anyone bought a Garmin GPS lately and can recommend a model? neither of our vehicles have NAV, and even when the Prius had it we preferred the Garmin. The older NAVs for some vehicles can be confusing and don't allow for the navigator (wife) to do inputs while driving.

Do the newer NAVs on vehicles allow for passenger input or has the auto industry taken that privilege away because of driver safety?

Don, my new F-350 has Sync with voice input, even while moving. I can say a radio station, an address, call Patricia's cell, weather, etc. It will also read any received texts to me. I've had it for about six weeks and discover something new, every time I drive it.

A Garmin DriveSmart 51 or 61 will allow you or passenger to make changes while diving. You do have to turn off the setting that locks changes while driving. It will also allow you to speak to it to make changes.

Thanks I’ll get the 51 or 61 the 350 is too big but good to know about voice nav.

Good Morning!!!! 44F @ 7:30AM. Partly cloudy skies during the morning giving way to a few showers late. High 54F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 30%.

I'd love to pass out a gift card or two to the mail and garbage men, but the mail man can't seem to get the parcel locker locked half the time, leaves letters sticking up out of the anti-theft slot in the front of the mail box, and has a bad habit of folding magazines making them hard to read. The trash guy somehow manages to get garbage all over the cul-de-sac at least once a month, and misses the can all together at least a couple times a year. That puts both of them on the naughty list, so no goodies for them.

Tuesday I finally managed to get the burned up battery for the gate opener pried out of the battery box that held it. The battery case and box were both plastic, and the two pieces had melted together. My idea of screwing eye bolts into the top of the battery didn't work; the screws just pulled right back out. Ended up using a 4' pry bar and just bending the sides in enough to make some clearance. The battery box was set into 6" of concrete, so it came out in a few pieces. I was lucky enough to buy another of the same battery box and it slipped right down into the concrete where the old one was. Found the same deep cycle marine battery replacement as well, so I'm done with the gate opener replacement job and back to even on that count, anyway. Dropped off the battery remains at Walmart and got my core charge back.

Stayed in town Tuesday night to help my evacuation hosts celebrate the wife's birthday, so didn't post to GM thread yesterday AM. Hit the grocery store for a bouquet of flowers for the birthday girl on the way over. It was one of four she got that night, so it's a good thing she loves flowers! Nice gathering at a local up scale bar/restaurant, and met a fella who's company will be building 200 pre-fab homes for those that lost theirs in Paradise. Not double wides, but a range of ten floor plans with standardized option lists to keep things simple and maximize the economy of scale for the builders. He thinks they can be move in ready by fall of next year if they can get through the county permitting process in a timely manner.

Ran some errands yesterday morning then started another round of spraying the weeds that are popping up like crazy. Got almost through the first tank when I hit the satellite Internet dish with the Kubota side-by-side, snapping off the receiver, leaving it hanging by the cable.:duh: Fortunately it was a tubular structure and a little lathe work on a piece of scrap aluminum got it going again temporarily, but it's on my list of things to do today to call the installer that put it up and see if he'll sell me just the bracket to replace the one I broke. It's always sumthin' huh?

New battery for the touring bike showed up yesterday, so I put it on the charger so it gets a fresh start when installed. Today I'll get the BMW I worked on all summer put back together and the fuel drained, then do the same for the zebra bike, putting them away for the winter. If there's time left over, I'll try to get the touring bike washed; fixing the antenna stole the time I was going to use to do it yesterday. Looks like next week's trip south is gonna start in the rain, but I like to check things over on the bike while I wash it and I like working on a clean machine a lot more than a dirty one.

67 °F and 2.4 inches rain. Can you say wet, soggy, muddy?

Well, the good part, I could take advantage and get my second half state taxes submitted. Also bested wife at two hands of cards.
Maybe start drying out today?

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Ron, I had similar experience recently at HD. Online inventory showed 5 items in store, I only needed 3. Half an hour with 2 employees and nothing. One said computer showed review for reorder next day. Went back, still couldn’t find and not reordered either. Found store online just a few miles from son in Va. Ordered 3 online for son to pickup. Supposed to be in my mail tomorrow.

At one time i was tempted to go into the pasture to retrieve the finished product, but decided not to.

Duncan is actually a working horse, at least to his owner who rides him in cattle roundups a few times a year. But just a big pet and conversation item to neighbors up here.
When wife walks in morning, leaving before sunrise, usually outfitted in here safety green or orange outfits and a headlamp, she carries a bag of Duncan’s treats plus a container of kibble for Howard, the neighborhood dog. He showed up at neighbor’s gate about 6 years ago. We think here was dumped. Doesn’t let anyone approach him, not even wife or others with food. Neighbor has made him a nice shelter from the weather at the gate, even has a sign “Howard’s Home”

Checked out Lowes. Showed they had 24 in stock. Trip to the store got me 2 trips around many aisles with help of a floor person. Not to be found. Came home and ordered off Amazon. They will be here tomorrow. Stuff like this makes me want to stay home using my computer. Is that a sign of getting older? :confused3:

It is a sign of having no patience for stores that cannot update their inventories online.

I just ordered a spoke wrench for the tricycle.....Canadian Tire didn't have the right one, nor did Home Hardware. I have one coming from the U.S. All in it will be $26.oo, but if I can't get one from Canada, then it is to the 'states I go.

The Wife's old '12 Kia Sorento has a nav system that works while driving. On her new '18 Kia Niro, the nav system cannot be changed once the vehicle starts moving. I dislike that feature. Haven't yet figured out if there's a way to disable it.

The iPhone does not have all the neat features that our Garmin nuvi 3450 had so we will be looking for another Garmin (plus sometime we would like a second opinion on which way is faster plus free lifetime map updates - they are adding hundreds of streets around here annually). Anyone bought a Garmin GPS lately and can recommend a model? neither of our vehicles have NAV, and even when the Prius had it we preferred the Garmin. Worms, during the cold rain a few weeks ago about 1000 small earthworms crawled on the stone patio to get out of the cold water and died and dried. I got the blower out to blow them off but they did not budge. I got the broom out to scrub them off and they did not move. Next - power washer gets some use.

Interesting pic Drew. That reminds me of my Cousin who spelled the name of his client Mr. Luecke with his bulldozer - but you have to get up high to see it. I bet Buckeye can find it in just a few minutes. (Hint: it's in Bastrop county TX.)
Im on it, lol

36F and raining. Supposed to warm up overnight, but heavy rain and 40mph winds.
My porch box is out of pellets, so need to hand carry a bag from the barn. I can fit 14 bags in the box, but didnt get it refilled before the rain. Might still drive the tractor in the yard, i usually fork them onto the porch.

Exhausting drive home in the rain, dark.

I have garman 600 gps, bought in 2008. With smart phone, it has been unused in yrs.

Got the 61 paired to our phones with the traffic app and updated the maps. Will test it out for 2 weeks.
I did find the setting to disable the moving vehicle nav changes and I can use the speaker voice activators phone on my truck. Thanks Ron.

Welcome to our world. I suspect I picked up the bug at the hospital. For a couple of days my belly hurt like I had been on a hundred sit ups at a time regimen, just from coughing. Just about the time I think it痴 over I値l have a coughing fit.

Trying to figure out if thinking about the cough is an alert for cough attack coming, or not.
