By the looks also deer been visiting as well.

I saw that but no start or end, seemed out of place. Impossible for deer to get in unless I didn't latch the door. Ten feet high fencing...
but the deer did eat two new large blooming rosebushes down about half way, just ate the whole freaking bush. And then chomped my strawberry patch down to the
nub, and wiped out half the snow peas. Number one priority today is restringing the electric fence wire around the small raised garden near my house. I already have one around my rose garden nearby and it works great.

58 going to 82 and windy again.

Ron, sorry about your friend passing, and Drew, hope yours recovers. Lung cancer stinks.

Beautiful lake and snow pix.

LS, please be careful with that knee.

BEF, I left my landscape cloth on the garden all winter...I had bought some from two manufacturers...one still looks great, the other is in shreds, and cleaning it up is my next chore on the list...the shredded one is the higher priced, "premium" brand. It was easier to put down, but starting ripping before the end of summer.

Drew, not sure a bright green snake is a baby copperhead, at least they don't look like that here. We used to see a few copperheads every summer, but haven't seen one in at least 5 years. Plenty of blacksnakes, garter, hognose, green, and earth snakes, all our friends.

Got up at 2:30am yesterday and drove to SE Virginia to hike into place in the dark to listen for gobblers on the roost. Was rewarded 3 times. I know where I am going Saturday morning, and where my son and DIL are going...opening day. He will go from there down to NC and hunt at my FIL for much of next week. I'll start getting serious on my warm weather projects around here, instead.

Drew, you might have a bear! LOL

Kyle, we are like family, only we chose to be a part.

54-80 today, shorts for me, the ladies deserve a treat!

Got my flower boxes repaired and tilled yesterday, might plant some today.

Prayers for all my friends.

Drew, that bright green snake is likely a, wait for it.....GREEN SNAKE! LOL
Just pickin on you. We use to catch them anytime we wanted to scare the teacher. Now they seem very scarce.

now guys, in my defense, that bright green snake was a very baby copperhead that changes colors and gets darker I was told,
and it was identified by my fireman helper who has lived here all his life. He said the young ones were the worst as they couldn't control
the biting instinct and tried to bite anything. Including you. Which is why it got the shovel. It was mostly bright green and looked like something from a South American
jungle. We have water snakes here too...like in my perpetually two feet full rear ditch, which my landscaper never gets to fixing. Maybe this summer...I took the mowing back from him
not only to save money but to get other things accomplished that just never get done.
And since the next neighbor down the water path cleaned his ditch professionally, I need to get my part cleared out. Of course it starts with me, so not like I'm backing up anyone.
Standing water can only bring bad news, mosquitoes, snakes. though I must admit it makes a very effective moat across the entire property just behind the barn.

26 and going to a high of 39 F. Wind 0. I hope the high temps remove the 2" of snow we got overnight.

Tractor should be back today. All the repairs and changes have been done, but the supplier 'thought' he had the right sub-frame, turns out he didn't and had to order one. It should be in this morning, a couple of hours to put it and the hoe on and top off the hydraulic oil.

I don't think I will be doing much of anything today.

Have a good day all

62 out this AM. Expect 80's today. Overcast, not complaining.

Ed thanks for the prayers. All, thank you too. I see a difference in my SO everyday. She of course is just so impatient with the healing process. I need to remind her of the time since surgery, and of the things she could not do over the last few years. Healing, mentally and physically takes time.

On the homestead, the front that is bringing us this nice weather blew another panel off my shed. Once they go, it's like a sardine can. How many remembers those? LOL. I have got to get up there and do my job, of course my SO is very hesitant about me and roofs. Man do I catch earfuls on ladders and roofs. I also lost all the cheapo screens I made for the barn, so I need to hang them back up this AM.

Buried a squirrel the cat took out last evening. Sigh...had to chase him around the farm to let it go. The cat is brain damaged. It would walk right by the squirrel for what seemed like forever. I guess instinct finally kicked in. I am going to miss the squirrel. I found his great-great-great-grandparents X 2 in my house many moons ago when I was in renovating shape.

I hope all have a great weekend. Be safe, enjoy the warmer weather if it is available to you.

53ーF and clear skies this morning, going up to 79ー today.

Got the zero turn checked out and running yesterday evening. Wife wants to take advantage of the wonderful weather and mow today.

We usually have a fair amount of snakes around during the warmer months. We get plenty of garter and prairie kingsnakes, and the occasional cotton mouth or copper head. Haven't seen any yet this year.

No more snow around our lake this year, but it has been full and overflowing for the last couple of weeks. The view from yesterday evening.

Any crappie in there PJ ?

63° and cloudy this morning, going up to 71° today. Expecting some rough weather to roll through the area this afternoon and into the evening. Back to the 40s by Sunday.

May or may not get the chicken coop extension done this weekend, depending on the weather. Congrats on the new chicks, Kyle.

Kevin, yes, there are crappie, bluegill, catfish, and small mouth bass ... as well as entirely too many turtles.

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 5:42AM. Mainly sunny. High 68F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Sorry for your loss L4N. Good friends don't come along every day. Headed for a celebration of life tomorrow myself, and it doesn't seem like much of a celebration.

Moving the mill yesterday went almost without a hitch. The forklift at the seller's place didn't want to run, and there were some anxious moments when the engine quit at inappropriate times. A real forklift at the destination had brake problems, which made smaller problems, but we got 'er done.

Robot #2 now with UPS for his last ride. No more robots for me.

Drew, baby copperheads only have green on the end of their tails. The rest of their body is the brown colors.

I like snakes. I go to great lengths mowing and weedwacking not to make mincemeat out of the resident snakes. We had a rather large rat snake living in our cellar. I was not happy to see a red shouldered hawk snatch it up.

Ron- Thanks for the laughs. I almost lost some decent Costa Rican coffee. There was a 200' foot trench dug from the house down to the solar panels. Brogen has left some impressive impressions in the mud there. There should be some bear tracks in that mud any day now. I should start bringing in the bird feeders before dusk now and chain down the lids of the metal ashcans containing birdseed on the deck.

Brogen needs some "work," but he is a basically good dog that was neglected and under-socialized. We've had our moments  but so far he is manageable on a leash. He wears a 30" choke chain collar on leash, but rarely needs "correction." May 1 he loses the jewels. We are getting his feed mix and bowl shape figured out. So far we are not considering totally grain free and limited ingredient dry and wet dog food.

My wife and I go to far too many end of life "celebrations" than beginning of life celebrations nowadays. Fortunately our closest friends are still "relatively healthy."

Hazy sun so far today and there was no need to fire up the wood stove this AM. I anticipate a wet weekend with some icing, freezing rain, and sleet thrown into the mix and the wood stove going back into action Sunday.

I hope that everyone on the "mend" continues to mend and everyone has a decent weekend.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

We hit 85° here yesterday. I actually had the AC on in the car on the way home form work. Wife had it on at home as well. We'll have the furnace fired up again on Sunday. Always an interesting time of year.

Looks like 18* for the low this morning. All most 30* degrees different than yesterday morning low. It snow all day and it's still snowing this morning, we only got few inches. Today is supposed to clear up and be in the low 40's. But still calling for 20-30 mph wind.

I'll see if I need to move any snow or just let it melt. Not sure what else I'll get done today.

Hope everyone has a safe Friday the 13th.
CWB.

Good morning to all! Wind was ravaging all night. Still going strong, weather guesser still calling for gusts up to 60mph. I noticed an 8' high post on the end of a fence row is down and took down a 10' section of triple row fence with it. Like CWB Wyo, the temp this morning is about 25 degrees lower than yesterday, only up to 45 today....what's this all about? No precip happening at all.

Knee was actually much better this morning (yea!). I'm thinking I'm 'over the hump', and will improve day by day. PT doesn't start till next week. I'm still behaving!

There are several wildfires burning in the state, one on the east side just moved over into Texas. None near us now. There was a fire about 35 miles from us earlier in the week, but they got it contained in a few days before the wind kicked up. Going to be a scary fire season due to the drought.

Everyone have a great weekend! Stay safe, be warm or cool, depending where you are!

I'm OK with snakes too...in fact, all critters. It's a "Live and Let Live" thing...as long as they leave me be...I leave them be...

67°F and .13 inches rain.

Have to run a few errands today, go to brewery for our gathering this Sunday.

Prayers for all

Drew, baby copperheads only have green on the end of their tails. The rest of their body is the brown colors.

all I remember is the bright green and yes it was on one end, I thought more than just the tail, but almost fluorescent lime green.

Garden club went nicely, not the most informative about house plants though I did learn some things.
I took in some leftover seeds and exchanged them for a nice cutting from a Carolina Rose.
Time to get into grubby clothes and go plant.

put three trays of plants out on my back deck to harden, for all of four hours of indirect sun, and the okra looks very unhappy now.
In they came, back out tomorrow. I'm not having much luck with hardening.

Mowed more grass. First bottle of Gatorade down for the season. Very dusty and dry.

No snakes here yet. We usually we see the black snakes, biggest one is over six feet. I had a picture of me holding its skin up. I'll have to go find that.
