Good morning!!!!

Afternoon all;

Between 14-16 inches heavy wet snow on a not frozen driveway, equaled 2 hours yesterday and 3 1/2 hours of creeping along trying to move snow and not gravel/mud.
Dang late winter / spring storms.

good luck to all

Has anyone tried corn gluten as an organic pre emergent?

Hold on to you hats boys, there's a new INSTANT POT coming out later this spring.
It's called the INSTANT POT MAX.
"In addition to pressure cooking, sautéing, steaming and slow cooking, the Instant Pot will now have enough power to go up to the 15 PSI needed for safe, at-home preservation." New Instant Pot Max | Tasting Table

I might need a fourth!

What’s the pre emergent application rate for sand burrs with Surflan? I’m asking because I have an area in back that is a former crop field and even with a thick grass barrier it’s full of burrs.

I used 50 pounds for about 6,000 sq. ft. . Max application rate is 200 lbs per 11,000 sq. ft.

Don, no have not tried corn gluten. This is my second application, first ones was last fall, after digging up the then current crop of sandburs. No sandburs have reappeared. Yet!

Thanks. Just looked the Surflan AS up, as I wasn’t familiar with it. Have you used it before on sand burrs? They didn’t show on the list of weeds controlled.

One of my neighbors tried DuPont Pastora (post emergent) with pretty good results. Application rate is 1-1.5 oz. / acre.

the documentation I got does show sandbur, wife picked this up at the Gainesville Coop, specifically to deal with sandburs

Don- I have seen quite a few walkers with built in seating in longterm care facilities. The residents that had them seemed to like them, especially if they fatigued quickly/easily and needed to sit down. The one model that I took on a "test run and seating" worked well and the seat was comfortable. The one that I "test walked" also had a storage area under the seat. I like the handbrakes, but I would make sure the wheels can be locked while seated. I think some models are self locking when someone sits on the seat. A seat with unlocked wheels can be a serious fall hazard.

I agree with Buppies about a potential weather event for the 12 -14th timeframe. The weather models have been bouncing around about this potential storm. A lot depends on just how quickly this present low-pressure system off the NE coast moves on out and how the different "pieces" come together as Buppies posted. I do not think the NE will be seriously impacted, but time will tell.

The police here are under orders not to give chase and the kids know it.

I have no idea what the rules are today, but back about 50 years ago:laughing: . . . we could, and did, stop motorcycles and issue citations when appropriate. But if they ran, we were not supposed to give chase.

46 currently......lots of rain.......some wind expected this afternoon......will get sunny this weekend. Glad I mowed yesterday.

The area is 10,000 sq ft. 200’ x 50’. I put some homeowner stuff on it last year and didn’t see much good it did.

The problem now is unlicensed dirt bike gangs roaming the streets.

Some of the raw data indicates this might be a Virginia south storm, moving out to sea, but it’s way to9 close to me for comfort.

Randy- A few models are in agreement with you as to potential location and tracking. It looks more wet than frozen, but higher elevations could see snow. We'll see.

I moved the snow as far back as possible from the driveway, etc. just in case. There has been significant snow around here the first week in May (+20", 1977(?))

Wife has one with hand brakes. Found out that most with hand brakes can lock the wheels by pushing down on the brake lever.

Well, no luck with the paper blinders on the Roomba, so Hazel is back in her box and will get dropped of at the UPS Store when I go into town later today. Just too many things didn't work like they were supposed to, but the last straw was refusing to clean the large area rugs that happened to have black borders. Bounced off 'em like it hit a wall, but then sometimes went right up on them like there was no problem at all. No rhyme or reason to the behavior, maybe Jay could figure it out given enough time. Clearly a case where the lawyers concerns took precedence over functionality. It also had a habit of pooping out the battery before it got back to the charging station, and getting stuck somewhere in the house and going silent, leading to a room-by-room search. Maybe that's where they got the name? I do like the idea of a robot vacuum cleaner, and I've seen some reviews that favored a Samsung model over anything from iRobot, so maybe I'll give it another try once the refund goes through. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime: free return shipping and all I have to do is drop it off at a UPS Store.

Poor Hazel.
My son has a Samsung and a Roomba. He claims the Samsung does a better cleaning job. The 980 was supposed to be equal to it.

Same here. I have a BIG one; rated to handle up to 500 lbs. And the main reason I bought this particular one was because of the bigger wheels and bigger, higher, more comfortable seat. My wife's is much smaller with smaller wheels, seat, etc. But both have the hand brakes and we always lock the wheels before sitting down on them.

Several years ago, we went to the State Fair of Texas on the day that's free admission for senior citizens, and there was quite a crowd that day. Sometimes we had a little trouble finding a comfortable place to sit down for a short rest. And I noticed all those old folks with their rollators. So that was when I bought ours. They've been seldom used, but sure are handy at times.

RNG- Given Hazel's young age it probably is not a dementing process, but there is a clear pattern of perceptual field deficits, loss of bowel/battery control, and periods of disorientation and confusion. More likely to be symptomatic of delirium; possible etiology- an underlying infected battery or transient connections. Or we may be seeing an emergent severe characterological disorder with anti-social and passive aggressive tendencies with episodic periods of regressive acting out. Have you noticed any self injurious behaviors?

Oh boy. Like I said, POOR HAZEL. To many big words. 🤯

No, but she did spend a lot of time bumping into walls and furniture. Maybe I just have a way of bringing out the best in women?:laughing::laughing:

RNG- Maybe attention seeking behaviors.

I find it honorable for a person to allow their partner the opportunity to "freely and creatively" express themselves.

Is Hazel in the box yet? I would not turn my back on her. Try not to raise her suspicions. It could get ugly.
