good morning, a warm 70 going up to 87 today in afternoon showers and thunderstorms, though nothing is on the radar now.
Dentist first thing this morning, last of his first round work before he puts in two crowns. I am sure making this guy's house payment for awhile...he's even more expensive than the dentist I had in PA, who now I realize was quite reasonable.
I'm not a dental phobe but today can only get better.
Then with a rubber face I go food shopping, preparing for my old friends to return this Thursday for several days.
And if it's not raining when I get home, it's lawn mow time. Tomorrow my helper comes to weedwack and help me pull my front walkway pavers up. They are getting replaced on Thursday with grey instead of red pavers, the house is white and grey, and the old pavers are going to be used as flooring for some parts of the barn. Not as good as concrete but better than dirt for sure. Old pavers just pop right up, tried the first one yesterday. Trying to do this between rain storms or the hole I leave after pulling up the pavers would make a great little swimming lane.
I spent the extra money at Lowes to buy the plastic liners for the walkway, since I'm using amateur helpers. They interlock and allegedly preclude the use of underlayment. I don't think so...we'll dig it out, underlay, thin layer of sand, roll and tamp, then lay the plastic pieces, then the pavers go right on that. Then the polymeric sand on top. The latter has its grains full dealing with the amazing number of ants here. Wonder if they can chomp through it...
String ready, hardest part will be getting the slope away from the house just right, and consistent the length of the walkway. I have a long leveler, and my main helper says he has done this before, plus he is huge and will do the grunt work. He is bringing one helper and I will do manly things like drive the tractor around and try to stay out of the way.
but I sure am going to QC that slant before we proceed and will fully build one spot as a test.
