Morning all, 71 t0 92, the 5" of rain forecasted for last night luckily was less than .05 ", calling for .5" today.
Looks like 2nd try to eliminate pool wasps was successful.
Need to check if 2nd try on yellowjackets worked.

Be well,

New lawn mower on break again.

Was 73.2F outside @ 22:00 which was cooler than in the house by a couple of degrees.

Hauled trash and recyclables up to the road after dinner.

Checked sparrow trap on way back down, picked up another one since the day before.

Removed the 2 dead ones and threw them in the dump cart then headed down to house and grabbed the compostables and took those up to the compost pile.

Once I got back I went over and got the Kubota from where I had parked it on the lawn on the west side.

Swapped out the Light Material Bucket for the Shrub Bucket and started digging up the large Japanese Yew on the southeast corner of the house.

Got the soil loosened up pretty good, will put the hose on it today and give it a good soaking which may help in getting it dug out.

Parked the Kubota after that and grabbed the Cub and drove it around and parked it in front of the garden to deter the deer.

Then worked on getting squash and cuke vines woven into the arched trellis until it was so dark I could no longer see.

Then came on inside.

Currently 69.6F and mostly cloudy @ 09:00, calling for a high of only 80F for the day … which is below average and should make it fairly pleasant. No doubt it should be the best day of the week.

Need to see if there’s a spot on the west side where I can dig a hole to transplant the large Japanese Yew.

Then get out the pole saw and trim it back severely so it has a better chance of surviving and is easier to handle.

Can remember planting all of them for Mom, along with the blueberry bushes and the Eastern Red Cedar … that was over 50 years ago …

Beyond that probably finish up watering/fertilizing stuff in the garden. At least the okra and the summer squash.

Other than that just see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Tuesday …

yet another fine use of machinery, performing door duty
clearly the presence of man
deterrence tbd

walked the property looking at the trees. Found more dead limbs in one not far from house, which will be dealt with in
two weekends when a group of guys and chain saws and a tractor will arrive here for a tree worksession.
I could do some of it with my Makita cordless saw but might as well wait til the big boys get here.

I need a bag of rose garden mulch and headed downtown to when garden shops opens.
nice to be able to drive up to big piles at Living Earth and load within a few feet. Less lugging for me, stuff
is kinda heavy for me anyway. Most of original mulch washed away in big storm plus not put on heavy enough originally.
And I'm tired of hoeing the weeds when the come up...

Thomas, hope discussion with boss goes well.

Drew,

Was reading the pamphlet that came with the copper fungicide that we’ve been using on the peach trees, says it can be used to treat powdery mildew as well.

Have had that pretty bad over the last several years here but not currently an issue … at least so far this year.

Might want to consider that for your “mold” problem.

mildew, powdery or not, is on the lower zucchini leaves.
I just cut them off.
have to be careful spraying neem oil on, not in the sun
thanks RS
I sprayed enough orchard spray and ddt as a kid on the farm that I've sworn off
herbicides except Roundup for the driveway. If edible, has to be organic for me.
which I'm first to admit often impacts effectiveness.

spread two bags of mulch after weeding that rose garden, turned into ball of sweat, finally had to come
inside. Will wait til Amazon shows up with some speaker connector adapters for car, then might fiddle with that in the a/c.

got my long term care insurance renewal. Even after lowering coverage from lifetime to 6 years, still 3200 bucks a year for about 10 grand
a month coverage. Which is what nice nursing homes here cost.
so 3200 a year to insure max payout of 720k. But only if institutionalized; they have much more expensive coverage for inhome care.
they are hoping I don't pay the premium; actuarially these old policies are disasters for the insurance companies.
they had no idea medical inflation and potential overuse would cost so much. Most have dropped their policies.
I'm with a mutual company that only charges what they have to. Went up 40 percent a few years ago.

BC/BS Medicare wrap plan J went up 18 percent this year, almost 4k a year for just me.

maybe I need to get a job...

Drew, on m income tax form my medical insurance cost me $600.oo for the next year with zero co-pay. Most drugs $6.11 per script.

The wind here is out of the east at 3 mph. To install the tarp on the tractor shed the wind needs to be out of the west. The mosquitoes and deer flys are brutal today. Zero work going to get done today. An energy conservation day. I'll eat my 2 quarts of strawberries instead.

69°F and 1.04 inches rain

$.63 thermal cutoff seems to have done the trick on air fryer. Let Easy Off work its magic over night on some particularly stubborn areas. Will reassemble this morning.

LS radiator hose didn’t make it over from Honolulu, maybe today.

Successful trip to town and good time getting caught up with mainland friends on Zoom.

Lunch invite to neighbors today. I know he’s excited to show off his new EGO zero turn he got last week.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

You bet !

I’ve read that trimming summer squash is a good way to revitalize and extend their production.

I sprayed enough orchard spray and ddt as a kid on the farm that I've sworn off
herbicides except Roundup for the driveway. If edible, has to be organic for me.

Well, it’s not an herbicide (rather a fungicide) … and it is approved for organic.

It’s a Bonide product, courtesy of Captain Jack.

On Amazon:

Can be sprayed up to the day of harvest.

The other one I’ve read about is kaolin clay … which is obviously organic …
