19 this morning and headed to 25 today. Wind chill of 6 with 1-2 inches of snow on the ground. Also had a half inch of rain yesterday before the snow.

Plans for today are to take care of birds and cows and stay warm. Doubt I'll be doing anything major. Not enough snow to try and plow as wind has cleared drive.

Kev good you made it back safely. Who's the dog for then? Did you get that PM?

47.3F and overcast @ 10:30 ... headed down to overnight low of 13F ...

Filled the newer 55g tank with water the other day and started doing a fishless cycle on it, using clear ammonia. Also replaced both bulbs in the hood lights and added a stick-on digital thermometer and installed the heater. Set up the Magnum 330 with the polishing filter and some diatomaceous earth to clean up the cloudiness. Have a slight leak/drip at the hard pipes that hang on the top of the tank where the hoses attach ... need to install some better clamps or replace the hose with something more pliable. Moved a couple pieces of volcanic rock and some plants up from the 10g to populate it with (good) bacteria and algae.

Have to drill and tap a hole at the top of the inlet pipe to the RFUG and install a petcock to bleed off the air in order to hook up the other Mag filter and get it running. Also have to finish making up a filter sleeve for the canister basket out of poly-fil, which I have cut ... just need to silicone it together and let it cure.

Removed the glass brace on the other 55g tank ... wasn't happy with how I had positioned it (too low) first time around. Still need to get that siliconed back on.

Hope to get back to work on the backgrounds in the not-too-distant future.

Another year in the books ...

Good morning all. 25F this morning, yesterday cloudiness is gone, wind has back off. today's high should be about 41F with no rain in the 10 forecast, slight snow chance in a week, wonder if the chance will disappear before then. Fire is started, don't get the heat I would get from an insert :(. Tomorrow has a forecast high of 49F then 50's and 60's rest of the week.

Don, Our internet tower makes our home look like a command station. They had to raise the telescoping tower to 45' IIRC. Did you go with the "Z" company or the "LW" company? I know the "LW" company is at full capacity and now has trouble at peak periods keeping everyone's speed where it is supposed to be.

Did you get your new cart from the Austin dealer? How many batteries does it have? We have a project at work where they bought some specialized batteries, car sized, lithium based, that cost $1100 each. They are light weight and I'd bet they'd make decent cart batteries but, Yeeouch!

Good afternoon. 50˚clear skies now, was 28˚ at sunrise.
Kyle, we went with Z. The speed is variable from 1Mbps to 11Mbps but mostly 3Mbps. If any of you can please try this At&T speed test:

AT&T High Speed Internet Speed Test

and let me know your speed. I wonder how this rural service compares to others.

Kyle, I got the Cart from Liberty Hills and it has 6 Trojan batteries.

The cold North wind was blowing hard yesterday as I was feeding Dad's cows with his non-cabbed tractor, this may be his last year in the cattle business.

Moved a lot of sand and ABC today, very glad my helper showed up...the calvary. I had most of the ABC leveled in the barn floor, left him to finish it and then put a layer of sand on top of that. Then using up a big pile of old pavers. Mud, mud mud, tired of getting the Gravely stuck. Maybe ought to consider getting some R1 tires; the hybrids are fine for everything but mud as they are almost useless once they plug up. What a mess this project has made of my fields...but at least it wasn't the lawn...

Decided to do a simple culvert instead of a bridge over that water diversion ditch. Thinking a 12 inch pipe should be fine, just surface water.
Hard pipe? My helper says use the cheap corrugated stuff and dump a load of sand on it, then ABC. Wouldn't solid pipe be better? Only a ten foot section or so.

We use AT&T Hotspot mifi and I got 9.59 down and 1.01 up. How is your Dad? Is he home yet?

Farmer, Yes I did, thank you, I haven't gotten a chance to check it yet. The dog was the friends that I went with. Although I guess I own part interest in it. I loaned him some money to get it. LOL

Drew, sounds like you are getting lots done. I vote for the bridge, but then I would want you to get fancy and put up a covered bridge. If you aren't going for that then just put in a culvert.

28 down, 8 up with the AT&T test, 43 down, 8 up with Speedtest.net using Suddenlink cable
quite a difference
and I should be running between 45 and 50 down so things are slowish, relatively

Drew not to mind your business but galvanized pipe has a shelf life of 20 years double walled plastic smooth inside. Basically same price just a better product in my mind
