successful morning, got volvo back and put away in garage. Thompson detail got most of the water spotting out, and they said because they couldn't get it all out, and therefore the detail was not complete, they would only charge me 100 dollars. ?? they should have charged me 300...
talk about good public relations, they'll get a great review out of me.

nice and sunny out

A small home is all I want, but I want to build it. I want to put a small building up first to secure tools, etc, and have a place to store things as I build it. Actually would like to have a place to park the camper and use it there. add septic and well, then build place if we decide to. My issue with the Twp boils down to the rights of a property owner. If I buy property I should be able to build a garage or barn before I build a house.

No buildng permits where I come from in Ohio, yet people still generally build houses to code. Drive thru PA, they lost the war on zoning years ago, you see commercial property mixed in all over in areas in the middle of housing areas. They let that horse out of the barn long ago. In PA, permits are done by twp. Most now make you pay a commercial inspector company, the twp doesn't do it. Pretty easy for them to just say, pay someone else to do it. Pay us to get a permit for driveway, septic, building, aux building, water, & air usage.

19 deg and snowing. Had a good breakfast meeting. Snow was just starting up there, the further I got towards home, the more snow. drive and deck have a light coating. Unsalted roads covered, salted roads starting to accumulate some.
Sadly, i think most government bodies, regardless of size have come done to a priority of money. At the lower/local level it is how to collect more, usually through implementation of fees and taxes and at the upper/Federal level how to spend more with more buried in the details.

Speaking of wood, yesterday I sharpened a couple saw chains, and gave the rakers a dressing, something I don't normally do. Out of four chains, I only removed significant material from one of them. I don't take a lot off when I sharpen, so the rakers don't get a lot of attention. The two that I sharpened were dulled by dirt in the bark, so it didn't take much to bring them back. I use an Oregon sharpener, and I've seen saw shops take off 1/16" or more off the teeth, leaving the metal burned blue. Those chains didn't last very long. Now I set up the grinding wheel so it doesn't touch the tooth until I bring it all the way down against the stop and then flex it sideways, just gently kissing the tooth.

That’s the way I grind my chains.
