I usually set a pipe in concrete with a flange about 4” above grade. Then a mating flange with the post welded to it. The flanges are bolted together with 1/4” grade 3 bolts.
That provides a failure point that’s easily fixed when it gets hit.
That's how my neighbor did ours too, but the bolts were set in the cement vs. welding a secondary flange. Not quite as good, but I can't argue with him doing the whole thing with only minor work by me.

Built a mail box paper box out of 3/4 in rusting steel, Cotten, 3/8 in structural tube set in concrete. Got hit once cars racing the one that hit it lost radiator and oil pan. No one hurt including mail box just had to set back up. Wish I would have kept it when house sold

64°F and no rain

Start the day with early morning appointment at Dentist. Initial appointment for a new crown

Who knows what comes after. Probably depends how I feel, but would hope to finish up mowing that section.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

In my years of pushing snow here I’ve never seen them use sand further north yes just not locally. Hopefully I can get to tractor today to see if I can loosen this snow sleet ice up. The sun can do marvelous things once a spot opens up
Have you got any wood ashes?

The mail box was for my father

Propane logs years ago Holly got bit by a brown recluse spider resulting in large hunk of her arm removed lots of pain so quit burning wood in deference to Holly

Yes good suggestions. The tractor is from 2006 and I changed the thermostat last year. The heating control valve is electrically controlled and the actuator has failed so disconnected the actuator and reaching under the seat to move the heating valve. Could have changed position to only partially open. I am too cheap to spend several hundred dollars to install new one I guess
When the blend valve on the Kioti started leaking I got it fixed under warranty ONCE. When it started leaking again we cut it out of the line and put a 1/4 turn ball valve next to the block. I am too cheap to replace something that is just going to fail after a couple of years.

Unless your driveway is cement, I recommend table salt if you don't have any rock salt. IF the driveway is cement, then HD sells sand in bags.

I have a pile of salted sand plus coal ashes for when the ice gets bad. Almost to the point were I'll have to spread the coal ashes the cans almost full.
