Drew-- This is the first repair job I remember where they sawcut only the rutted part out and poured new concrete. So there are strips of concrete miles long. Before, they would re-do the entire road surface instead of just strips. Maybe a budget thing?
it really was strange, I've never seen it handled like that. Like they poured two two foot wide swaths of some covering, concrete I'm sure, that was very smooth. Never saw a road like that, but PennDot in my area is so poor I won't criticize anyone else's roads.

overall not impressed with California roads. Not very smooth, and I was driving with both hands on the wheel for hours on end. By the time I got here I was buzzing and tired. Like driving the Blue Route in Philadelphia.
though I think the PA drivers are more aggressive and worse.
saw a lot of Teslas whizzing by today

what a lot of curves this morning coming up and down the mountains.
I only saw farming once, some very nice looking corn, must have been at very top of Valley. And once into California there started being trees on the mountains again. Which clearly like to burn.........

water pressure here is poor but I'll just use my DC pump which makes twice as much pressure. And...I think the Dc pump might be sucking the water out of the campground water now that the backflow preventer is missing.
I'm going to take a long shower and avail myself of everything this place has, which isn't much. And 105 a night. Most expensive place on this whole trip. Only game around, zero competition. Only one close enough for my sister to drive to.

what is so nice is knowing I don't have to move a thing in this rv for six days. My sister brought me all this high end salad stuff, went for the pickled beets first. I asked her for some chopped fruit, well that got me two containers plus six more containers of whatever she thought was healthy and that I would eat. She knows not to bring me sprouts...;)

going to rest a bit and then see if drone will fly here.
might be a seriously restricted area

Happy Birthday L4N.

Just getting online after mowing today. Did something really stupid today, more on that later.

But driving home, hit something on the road in the left lane, maybe someone's fender, laying on the road, Not sure what it was, but wasn't fun running all the left side tires over it, front especially. A truck had just pulled out in front of me from the right lane, it hit it first, then me, then the car behind me. who knows how many people hit whatever it was.

I was expecting a blow out, but made it home. So I brought the dash cam in from the truck to look, and discovered no recorded video on it since
february. Cobra dash cam I bought new last christmas time. Had trouble with it recognizing the SD card when i first got it, but thought that was all working. I runs like it's working, shows display and counts the time of the video, but apparently not saving anything. What a waste. guess I'll be buying my 3rd Garmin, they have been great.

Need to catch up on todays posts...

You are on the calendar!
wonderful
think about where you and your wife would like to go out to dinner, your favorite vegan place that's not too far to drive to.

my sister said I was getting fish every day, so that's good.
She is not about to serve me a t-bone...nor would you
I'm looking to have my horizons expanded

chili is good
chili is almost always good
lentil soup is good
lentil frittata? got me...

I've been good on the way out, just that small hunk of prime rib.
I'd love some good local barbecue, ribs, and prefer less sugary stuff.
And real tex-mex.
Kinda hoping RNG fires up his smoker...
I will bring him a six pack of Mexican beer along with another surprise,
and we can be happy full Anglos
and toast to a launch out of Vanderbilt AF base
RNG, arrange that please, about 7pm ;)

and now to see what the neighborhood looks like after a quick zip up not too far, and no warnings which surprised me
this is a fairly grimy inner city area with the Carte Madera creek flowing through. Pretty big creek near here...

Ok what is wrong with this chain?
IMG_7325.jpeg

had a small tree come down into the field of the lot, and threw a chain on the mower and used it to pull the tree to the side of the field. threw chain back on the mower and kept mowing. Started hearing very loud noise, like i was hitting rocks. couldn't figure it out, but instead of stopping and looking, kept mowing, kept hitting rocks.. Finally took mower back to the truck and ran it part way up the ramp to look under, deck was clear, but then saw the chain hanging down at front of the deck. It had slipped through the handholes in the bottom plate of the ZT, went over the front of the deck, and I cut the chain in half, besides a bunch of other dings.. don't know yet what the blade looks like, should be only the 1 right blade. It did cut ok after that.
can't believe I didn't stop sooner, when I didn't think there were any rocks around to hit.......

Was dry and dusty, but got it all mowed in 2 hrs flat. Since the chain was shot, couldn't pull any of the other tree limbs that need moved, so loaded up and came home.

having a nice glass of a soft red blend, waiting for my meatballs to cook.
The sauce is home made mostly from the garden, the meatballs are an add.
I figure I won't have any meat at my sister's the rest of the week.
So of course this makes about six portions and thankfully I have both tupperware packed and some freezer space. So I'll be eating these meatballs all the way back to PA.

about 69 out, cooling off, nice I can cook again in rv. Have the bathroom exhaust fan cranked up, its much stronger than the little thing they put over the stove. Sometimes you just get tired of microwaving something, usually healthier to spend a little time preparing fresh food and then cooking it.
But we've been taught all we need to do is push that magic button.
and btw, never put chicken in there...

haven't quite checked out my very close neighbors. Lot of rental rvs very similar to mine. Guy next to me from Austria, just came in after renting it in LA and winding up here right next to me. With his girl friend inside and lots of organic green stuff smell... He said he was going to lake Tahoe. I asked him if he had a laptop and yes, I said check the ten day weather forecast, do not drive this rental in snow. The tires were really worn........

those rentals, or at least his, had no slide. Boy would letting the untrained mess with slides create a nightmare. Lets all sit on the couch while the room moves, wheeee, .crack, crunch

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 3.2C and it's presently 17.1C, mostly clear with an occasional breeze.

Last evening's Parish Meeting went a wee bit overtime but was productive. Mind you, when I returned home (1820) I felt unusually irritable = blood sugar was low. All was well after I got some supper into me but it took awhile for my 'system' to settle down. 'Bodies' are strange at times, eh?

Hopefully today I'll get a 'tip' run in and some organisational phone calls done.

That's about it, take care all.
