RNG, I had no choice but to go to the hospital. Dad loaded me into his '47 Plymouth w a flat head 6 and away we went. Knee was laid wide open and the blood was streaming out of my head. 6 stitches in my head and 26 for the knee. 4 hours on the table. Don't forget this was 1958, they had lots of gravel and cinders to hose out of the knee. Dad found my glasses the next day on the road. Lenses were a little scratched up (kudos to hardex lenses) and frames were busted in one place but otherwise they were okay.
I had a deal with my Grandfather that IF I finished the race he would buy me a banana split. They went back to Florida before I got out of hospital, but were back at Christmas and wanted to take me for the banana split. I declined telling him that I didn't finish the race. He bought me a banana split anyway. There is something to be said about being the first grandson in the family.

Frits, I'd say that Massey has a very nice patina
Perkins excelled in simple third world engines, rugged stuff for far out there,
supply the English empire...

if you owned an old sailboat, it almost always had a Perkins.
Then Yanmar took over the whole market

shopping done, used my 15 percent off coupon with a smile, think I'm fully stocked for the trip except for fresh
food I'll buy next Monday. I intend to fill both small freezers as much as possible. One way I found to get more space is to take things
out of boxes and repackage in zip lock bags. Maybe if I'm smart I'll cut out just the heating directions and throw that in there too...

gorgeous outside, might mow the lawn just to be outside. Could go another day but it's 72 and
lovely out with blue sky and puffy white clouds slowly drifting past

Think my little Massey has a Perkins

Dug 1 bucket of small potatoes, 3/4 of a row.
They took down little pine near my line also, was too close to my garage. They about all cleaned up. my garage is right at the restriction. If I had a do over here, house would have been moved over left some.
Snagglepuss sleeping on swing next to me.

Good morning! Low of only 60° (going wrong direction), high expected around 92°. Still forecasting a chance of t-storms Fri & Sat.

Billy, glad your mom is doing better. Hope she gets home soon!

Don, that heat is downright oppressive! Try to stay cool and hydrated. Pool temp at 92 just too warm...

Drew, anybody able to help you out on the RV roof?

Just piddling today, have to go to an appt. at noon in town, so not really an opportunity to start doing anything. Maybe this afternoon if it's not too hot.
Not a breeze or leaf moving out there now, so I expect it to get stifling outside.....

I think I'm in one of those moods.... I don't HAVE to do it, so I won't.....
Except for running the drip. That will get done.

Everyone have a great day!

Dennis, isn't that always the case? Decisions based at the time seem to be the best option, then years later when it's impossible to change.....

Can't tell you how many times I wish that I could change from the initial "good decision " that I made....

67F and mostly cloudy @ 12:30, calling for a high of 70F for the day.

High yesterday only made it to 70.5F. Low this morning was 48.2F.

Was cool enough in the house this morning that The Woman actually turned on the heat ...

Birds liking having the feeders refilled finally.

Got a couple more loads run through the dishwasher, mainly canning jars.

Trash hauled up to the can at the road.

Repaired live trap, this last time the tabs for the hinges on the trigger plate got torn off. Had to drill the plate and wire it on. Re-baited, set, and placed.

Compostables dumped in the new compost pile.

Spent the rest of the day screening compost.

Original pile remaining to be screened is now smaller than the pile waiting to be rescreened.

Woman made enchilada soup from a mix we picked up at Menards a while back and a chicken She got at Sam's Club when She was out over the weekend. Very tasty ... and I'm not that big a fan of chicken ... since it seems like that's pretty much all She ever wants to eat ... 😂

Need to remove empty pallet from the van, then head over to friend's and pick up some stuff he's getting rid of.

Grass around back is getting long and all the rest of it is at the point where it needs cut ... so will probably pick up another 3 gallons of gas while I'm out.

Then either mow or maybe finish up compost screening when I get back.

Need to check live trap.

Sauerkraut packer is on the truck and out for delivery.

Hope everyone is having a decent Wednesday ... (y)

Forgot to mention we had another wildfire yesterday afternoon, less than two miles away on the opposite side of the canyon. As usual, I got a Watch Duty Notification, then heard the water bomber circling. I watched it make a few orbits, then it dumped one load of retardant, then back to orbiting again for another half hour or so. There was very little wind so firefighters had a hose lay around it and forward progress stopped an hour after it was first reported. It's almost getting to the point of routine, but there's always the chance they can't get a handle on it, like the recent Park Fire, which after 429,000 some acres, is contained but is still burning. That one started only fifteen miles away, but winds took it away to the north. That was a very good thing for Chico, which would have been wiped out had the winds been out of the north that day. No news on what caused the one yesterday, but they caught the arsonist that started the Park Fire, and he's still in jail with no bail. Really hope he spends the rest of his life there.

David, am reminded of the song
you keep me hanging on....
water treatment guys were in and out in one hour flat.
mixed media of calcite and something stronger
will last a year before refilling
now back to my lawn mowing
