Good Morning!!!! 40F @ 4:30AM. Cloudy skies with periods of rain this afternoon. High 47F. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch.
Not sure how much luck I'll have sending you some warmer rain, Ted. That might be David's department. How 'bout some Pineapple Express action? FWIW, 8 of the 10 days in the long range forcast are supposed to be wet up here. That drops to only four down south, with warmer temperatures, too. Think I'll take the car washing stuff down, and the heavy lift dollies so I can glue on that rubber.
Those of you interested in solar farms my find
this link interesting. 497 Megawatts is fair sized, but a drop in the bucket compared to what's going on in the rest of the world. Here's a
fun link to Google Maps with a list of solar farms in California. There are a LOT of 'em!. NIMBY? That's funny. I've got 8kW in my back yard here, and 6kW on the roof down in Orcutt.
There are whole towns in California, Drew, where everything is in Spanish, or at least the Mexican dialect of it. Mostly out in the Central and Sacramento Valley, where big agriculture rules. Nice if you like Mexican food, but difficult to order when even the menu is in Spanish and there are no photos to go by. In places like that there is no incentive to learn English because the vast majority of the population speaks Spanish.
Welcome back, Ron. Well said. There's also the IGNORE option. Hate to admit it, but I've used it more often than I should have to, even here on the GM thread. Have you given any thought to volunteering to become a TBN moderator? That might be the best solution.
Got the office furniture emptied, packed up, and loaded yesterday. That oak furniture is some heavy stuff. That meant loading it into the trailer using the back door/ramp. I'd have preferred to have it in the van because it has a smoother ride. Used all my moving blankets for padding, and I hope it's enough. Now starting to fill up the van, and will finish today. The Thursday forecast is calling for fog in the valleys, so I'm going to try to leave tomorrow. That probably means a wet start, but that's much better than trying to drive in the fog. Last week there was a huge pile up on I-5 in Bakersfield, and a couple people died. No thanks.
Also need to refill the firewood cart and bring a fresh load in from the garage. No wood, no heat. Too stingy to burn propane to stay warm when a little two stroke gas and some good exercise will let me feed the fire for free.
Yesterday's packing meant boxing up all my files, too. Always nervous stacking up all those "important" papers like bills and letters, and hoping I get them all sorted out again on the other end, and not lose anything. Fingers crossed. Then there's all the computer stuff that doesn't like getting bounced around. Hope it all still works, and I remember how it all gets connected.
