Good morning!!!!

Well another U-Haul has headed to Dixie last night. They left me with dogs to walk and lawns to mow. She's coming back to get her car and the dogs next week. Got their lawn mowed this morning already but need to get more gas to do the other two. (mine and my sister-in-laws camp)While walking the dogs through the food plot had a fawn spring up from under our feet. Took a bit to get the lab called off it but it seemed to have no trouble leaving his chubby butt behind. I guess that means the deer have accepted my offering. :)

off to fill up three 5 gallon cans of diesel. One of these days I'm going to treat myself to a diesel tank with a pump at home but not yet. And I've got that straight carbide router bit in my cart.

Good Morning! 74˚ partly cloudy chance of a stray shower this afternoon heading to the 90s.

Whipper woke me up with a consistent barking this morning. When I got up to investigate her back hair was bristled and she was running from one end of the yard to the other. Then out by the woods I spotted a coyote going deeper into the woods. I thought that was the end of it but Whipper went after the coyote and a few seconds Whipper came out of the woods running with the coyote in pursuit. I yelled at the coyote when they were almost in the yard and the chase ended - of course Whipper turned around and started running into the woods after the coyote again - all these doggie games too early in the morning. . . .

My 1947 Farmall "A" started right up yesterday but when I tried to put it in gear it just would grind. I started a thread in "vintage tractors" hopefully someone will guide me through an adjustment/fix. I really need to mow soon as the Senna weeds are tractor high already and I prefer the Farmall's belly mower to the Kubota's rear mower.

75F @ 5:00 this morning. Partly cloudy. High 99F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

RS, try a glyphosate/triclopyr mix for the poison ivy. Hope you're not itching yet.

Drew, try summa this:

Don, Whipper's a lucky dog! Coyotes often will lead a dog back to the pack where it soon becomes dinner. The tractor sounds like its got a stuck clutch. If you can find some way to drag it, try holding the clutch in the disengaged position while its moving and in gear. It would help if you could give it a good jerk. If it were a motorcycle, I'd suggest starting it in neutral then getting it rolling down a hill. When it got enough speed to match engine and transmission speeds, slip it into gear, then pull the clutch and accelerate hard. If that didn't do it, hit the brakes hard, but don't stop or it'll kill the motor. Repeat a few times and it should break it loose, especially after it warms up. It's caused by letting the machine sit for long periods, especially in humid areas.

It was already hot when I got to the saddle outfit yesterday morning, but they did a nice job and I was back on the road by 11:15. I soaked my shirt and helmet liner before I left, and that kept me cool in the 101F heat as I moved south. I was almost dry by the time I stopped for gas again, but by that time I only had a half hour to go and made it just fine. Still, a cool shower was the first order of business once I got my gear off, and I sure wouldn't want to be out all day on a day like that. Most of June had highs at or above 100F, at least 6F higher than normal. On the 27th, the Davis VantageVue weather station here reported a high of 118F, but it was a data phart at 10PM. I think I heard on the local TV news that June was a record warm month in many areas in this part of California. Not that I believe a lot of what passes for news, either, as most of it is actually editorialized opinion rather than raw facts that folks can use to make up their own minds. Fortunately I can use a DVR to filter that kind of tripe out; I think the fast forward button gets more use than all the rest of them combined.

TGIF gang!

71 this morning and headed to 81 today. More rain. Added 1.3 inches yesterday and today.

Chicken coops are washed on the inside. The outsides still need work but that will only take a couple of hours. Need to get a load of scrap metal loaded up. Then pack for our adventure to the sunshine state.

Eric. The key to spraying thistle in the rosette stage is to use a selective herbicide. Glyphosate is a not selective herbicide. A product like 2-4d is a selective. And works very well on thistle.

Good Morning. 0855, partly cloudy, 80F with 88% humidity. Forecast high of 91F with 0% chance of rain today, and a low of 74F tonight. If that rain forecast proves true, it will be the first day without rain in 9 or 10 days. My garden could use a break.

I have office relief today. Day 2 of the 2 day family reunion. Yesterday was fried fish day. Will have to wait to see what's on the menu for today. Then a women's conference tonight. I brought ribs just in case they don't have food tonight.

Have a good one,

Larro

Hmmm, about 64 here this AM. The weather people kind of missed the forecast since yesterday. They said rain would start yesterday and carry over until Saturday. Well, yesterday I started mowing grass. I swear it grows right behind the mower now! Anyway, today I will chill and doing some more outside yard work.

Happy independence day everyone! Have a safe and pleasant weekend.

Lunch break!

I crawled under the 1947 Farmall "A" and checked the clutch linkage, looked OK, and then I patted the 1947 Farmall's belly and encouraged it to go one more year, sat on tractor put it in gear, depressed the clutch, it started up without moving, Let the clutch out started moving, shifted to all gears, and it's completely healed now - works perfectly. I mowed weeds taller than the tractor for 2 hours this morning, even the steering bolts that had been backing out that I put Loctite on stayed put. A good mowing morning. Just call me the tractor whisperer.

Wow, time flies on a day off.

Pulled the old Pilot into the garage to install a new catalytic converter so it will pass emissions test. New catalyst from honda, came with bolts, but no nuts. The nuts on the old one are now a mass of rust, there's no way to get the old one off short of just cutting the bolts. Decided I would let a shop handle this one, just didn't want to mess with it.

cleaned up a little in the garage, then came in as it is getting pretty humid out.

I still need to do something with the poison ivy covered tree that fell onto my property and crushed a fence. I have a small outbreak on my arm from the poison ivy, from when I took an axe to the vine to kill it. maybe ill try to scrape the ivy off the tree with the backhoe.

waiting for the grass to dry some so I can mow the back field.

Then going to the firemens carnival tonight.

71ーF and only .02 inches rain last 24 hours.

We brought our 9 yo granddaughter and her 8 yo cousin back to Hawaii with us, Granddaughter is here for remainder of summer, cousin for 3 weeks. One could say life will be quite different for us this summer LOL

Farmer - some of those numbers you cite make me tired :)

Drew - that aluminum angle, routed in will be a nice finish, just might add that to my own project list (for next year)

It IS great to be back home, back in my own bed. Arizona was nice, but not researching a move there. The dogs are pleased to have us back as well as 2 playmates.
Our sitters did a fantastic job and it sounds like they enjoyed their stay here as well.

Well, back to reality. Had to make a Costco run to Kona yesterday, errands in Hilo today.

Be safe
Have a great day

Don, if you value whipper's life any, you might want to do something about the coyotes now that they are getting that brave.

Good Morning Everyone, Hope your weekend is starting out well. Hope everyone stays safe on this holiday. 74 with a high of 98 today, 0% chance of rain

Buppies - where are you going? We leave early Sunday morning for Ohio, I think Farmer said he was coming to FL tomorrow

Drew - Glad to know you have patriotic turtles

I refueled the tanks ($300) and the tractor and mower, changed blades on the mower, finished mowing the grass and had time to take the wife out for Italian for her birthday dinner.

Today I am sending a worker to tear down an old wood fence and the new one will go back up when I get back. I have to go change locks in a house 45 minutes away, and hook up my repaired receiver to the "Home Theater" then start getting things ready to go

Going to Litchfield Beach South Carolina probably Sunday

   / Good morning!!!! #35,577
a little cooler today with rain coming in this afternoon. Actually chance of thunderstorms every day now in the forecast.
Need to get my little American flags out for the turtles to wave around.
Buppies, have a wonderful time.

Thanks Drew been a long spring early summer working season, sales up 30 percent from last year at this time. Getting tough for two people to handle all the paper work that goes with this kind of volume. First year we will miss fireworks in 15 years

Got the back field mowed.

Took the chain saw to parts of the poison ivy covered tree, and then immediately took a shower. Did not get it all cut, but will now take the pallet forks and move what I can. Wish I had a grapple.

Did not make it to the firemens carnival, but I can hear the fireworks they are having right now.

Have a safe and Happy 4th tomorrow!

Don, I'll definitely call you the tractor whisperer if you can perform a similar miracle over the phone next time the Kubota here acts up :thumbsup:

It doesn't work over the phone - I must place my hand on the belly of the tractor and whisper into the tire.:dove:
