The plumber said the cordless tool to compress the fitting was 2000 dollars. Looked to be easy to do and as he said has made his life easier and removed the risk of a solder joint not working because of drip of water and he said a wet pipe does not make any difference to the quality of the joint

The ProPress works well, but the fittings are expensive compared to sweat fittings. But for wet work it can’t be beat if you need copper. Before that we would use a jet-swet and add a ball valve to deal with wet lines. We use both where appropriate, as well as PEX-A. I would likely have used PEX for that repair.

Morning all, 75 going to 92 and sunny.
Clutch went on the Simplicity, will see if I can pull the one off the backup and replace. Franken Lawntractor.

Uncle is out of surgery and hospital and recuperating at home. Doing pretty well for a 90 year old who also just had hip replacement last year.

Brother goes in today for his stent.

Wagtail-had a friend who was living in Tas for a while and moved back to the mainland, he used to talk about pademelons, so had to look it up. Y'all got some funny looking fur animals down there :)

Made appointment to get septic pumped out.

RNG - good luck with the house and hope no bidding war.

After seeing how well the pex works in tight spaces I've become a big fan, just the cost to start is pretty high for the tools vs. a torch.
Reminded me I need to replace the fill on my boiler since the old amtrol one is jammed.

Be well

Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 4:15AM. Abundant sunshine. Hot. High 99F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
High 90s and into the 100s for the rest of the 10-day. Summer is here with a vengeance.

Thanks for taking us along with you on your trip, Drew. Glad the MH got you home safe, and it was fun seeing you with some of the other inmates here!

Nice of you to help out your neighbors, Thomas, and nice of them not to expect a free ride on the work you did.

Like you, Ron, I came up empty handed from my Prime Day shopping. Most of what I saw seemed to be cast offs and left overs that nobody wanted to buy.

Saw a listing for a home in the Lompoc area with a three car garage, a large bonus room, and a covered patio that could be walled in for more garage like space. It's priced higher than I'd like, but what isn't these days. I'll get a zoom tour tomorrow, and if that goes well, will make an offer. But my real estate agent has another client that is also interested, and wonder if he'll try to play us against each other.

Speaking of Lompoc, my friend down there goes in for cataract surgery today. Keeping fingers crossed for a favorable outcome on that one.

Also pulled some covers off on the van to get a feel for how involved upgrading the stereo system might be. What's there now makes noise, but I would hardly call it quality audio. More like a 60s era transistor radio. Talked with a Crutchfield tech, who said I'd have to hack the speaker wire bundle coming out of the head unit, which sounds a bit drastic. Would also like to use the amplifiers and subwoofer I bought but never installed on the VW, but that's also complicated. Also couldn't figure out a way to get wires into the doors from the van interior, which might involve drilling and removing even more panels. I was hoping to just plug'n'play, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I did get the float reattached to the shut off valve on the small water tank, but the water level in the tank is still too high to re-do the adjustment properly. Need to take more showers to get the water level down some more I guess.

Once it gets light out I'll jump on the side-by-side and spray out the weeds that have cropped up ove rthe past several weeks. Not sure what else the day will bring.

Happy Hump Day, folks!
I am surprised that Crutchfuld does not have an adapter harness for the vehicle — I have replaced several sound systems over the years and they have various adapter harnesses for many vehicles. Might be worth an InterWebz search…

Deer are just a big pest. They eat everything you plant and cash into your vehicle.
Hooved Rats.

YUMMY hooved rats, but hooved rats nonetheless.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

Repeat forecast of yesterday, going to have to water plants at woodlot.

No work at woodlot yesterday, I forgot that Harry had to go for his Doggie Playhouse assessment, so we dropped him off and then took Bailey up for a blissfully solo walking experience.

Harry did very well on his assessment (boy did he now them!!!) but he needs Canine Influenza shots before being able to participate. So we have an appointment today, so no work again, but I will be getting a hairscut and picking up fittings for the water filter to get the grit from the stream water out :

IMG_2048.jpeg

I unwound one of the old yarn filters for the core, and took an old HVAC filter that I stripped the mesh out of and wrapped it and tied with some of the old yarn. All it needs to do is get out the big chunks.

Time to get Harry to the vet!

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Price out a ProPress tool with all the different jaws and an assortment of fittings. A PEX expander will seem like a steal.

The cantaloupe went from golf ball size to softball size in a week. I was excited for a bit I thought I had a ripe cantaloupe but it was just a small rabbit keeping cool under the leaves. Pic of rabbit only showed shadows.
