Happy Independence Day, everyone (U.S. only, of course). Too bad the importance is lost on so much of today's youth.

I got about a third of an inch of rain overnight. Too bad it had to come with a 3 hour lightning/thunder show. That kept the dog (so me, also) up, from 2 til 5am. With that, and the shop building work yesterday, it's a slow morning. Going back up to 90 today.

At least it's sunny and quiet, now...

80F and partly cloudy @ 12:00, heading up to around 84F for the day's high. HI 82F. DP 66F. AQI 47.

Woman had unloaded most of the order out of the car yesterday before I could get to it, I did handle 3 of the 40 lb boxes of cat litter (She took one around back on the 2-wheeler ...)

I got sunflower and safflower seeds for critters emptied out of their bags into their respective 5 gallon buckets.

Snuck up and got a bucketload of screened compost while The Woman ran down to the store and dumped it around that small oak tree on the west side. Took a load of fallen branches to the brush pile on the way up to do that.

Raked out the compost later, also threw more cracked corn down for the ground feeders.

Got shepard's hook put up out front with Japanese beetle trap, had a beetle buzzing around it before I even got it stuck in the ground. By the end of day you could see the beetles in the bottom of the bag weighing it down.

Got another 19 strawberry plants potted, think there might still be another 10 to do. The last 20 or so that I did have greened right up and are looking good in their pots on the shelves ... (y)

Moved new blueberry plants and milkweeds around back, noticed cabbage worms all over cabbage, called in reinforcements from the Neem Oil brigade and She sprayed everything down while I picked off the larger ones and tossed them in a dish of soapy water.

Rain shower moved through just before 18:00, pretty good downpour but didn't last all that long (5 minutes) Woman was cussing as She had sprayed all the plants earlier with Neem oil and now needs to do it again.

Decided to run over to The Depot last even and pick up 2 more Japanese Beetle traps. Got them assembled last night, need to get those put up today.

Did some cleaning in the kitchen before calling it a day.

Not sure what all on agenda for today.

Need to dole out the meds for this coming week.

Check front axle and hydraulic fluid in Kubota.

Probably spray some glyphosate since really no rain in the forecast for today. Only about a gallon left so will see if I have enough concentrate left to mix up another batch.

Take Kubota and start scraping out dirt for the flower bed on the west side of the frog pond, deploy another smoke bomb and use the dirt to close up the burrow entrance at the south end.

May get some more mulch put out.

Front lawn needs mowed again but I will probably wait until tomorrow afternoon when it's supposed to hit 88F.

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable 4th ... (y)

Dogs each got a bone and were quite happy.

Thunder off in the distance, getting windy and drippy now.

Druggies now have a go-cart… yay.

We decided to not go and see fireworks.
We did have a good cookout. Thank you to our forefathers who recognized that God gave us our right to freedom, and may we always fight to keep that right, and be free from oppression.
