The Costco date pit trees have been separated and transplanted. I had to use a sawzall to separate the roots. Will find out in a few weeks if they like the new pots.
Do date trees freeze easy? If not I’ll plant the in yard next year, but for now they make good patio plants.

Turkeys made an appearance behind the backyard yesterday.

54 going to 82. Was cold out feeding the birds early this morning.

Thanks for the prayers for my mom...still in hospital.

Never knew you could grow a date like that, Don. Hope it does well.

Ken, interesting about your stay in London. Thanks for sharing.

BEF, glad you are finding places to check out. I used to canoe by a bridge just like that one.

Congrats on your daughter's recognition and accomplishment, M7040.

Thomas, I'm always please to see a dug out yellow jacket nest...it means one less that I might step on. (y)

Dennis two different track head north out of Roanoke. One is a line to a mine, west of US 220. The track east of I81 is a mainline track (heavier use). good news on Subaru.
Dennis sorry the other lot did no work out.
.

I was thinking the tracks along 460 to Lynchburg was a main line. Lots of double tracks.
This one works it’s way up to waynesboro. Not much double track.

Dug another bucket of potatoes last night before dark. Ran out of buckets. Need to put potatoes in something else anyways. What do you all store potatoes in? On the farm we had 2 big wooden potato bins in a cold room in the basement. Dad insulated the ceiling, and would leave a window open in that room. Above the potato bins were shelves for all the canning jars.

Need to mow. Been needing blades sharpened half the summer now, never seem to find time.

44° right now...high about 70 or so...sunny

Stepdaughter's test (yesterday) came in negative, so she went to work. Wife and I weren't so lucky...if any of you had this bug, you know what it's like...

Should make a dump run, but not enough energy for that today

59F with some light fog 08:00, heading up to a high of around 83F for the day. Currently 65F and sunny.

Fell asleep on the couch last night.

Second nyjer feeder refilled yesterday. Need to pick up a large funnel to act as a roof/cover to keep the seed from getting wet.

Finished mowing down here around the house.

Got Yellowjackets nest up at the shop sprayed several times yesterday both inside and out. Will hit it again today with the spray and some Apicide.

Managed to get inside the shop and retrieve a partial 5 gallon bucket of hydraulic fluid and new grease gun and brought those down to the house. Topped off Kubota, will grease the FEL this morning.

Also moved some items off a pallet into the shop, clearing another pallet for use.

Ran the twice-screened clay through the screener again yesterday, mostly just gravel and rocks at this point:

Have several more piles of "gravel" (mostly) in various locations I should probably dig out and run through the screener.

Brought down two bucketloads of screened compost/manure to fill in the depression where the apple tree was and cover some roots over on the west side behind the west planting bed. Need to rake those out today.

Some clean up done on the south side of the pole barn, hauled a dead ash tree away and some brush, moved three pallets of landscape block over to high ground at the edge of the woods. Those need to be consolidated (to recover a couple more pallets) but before I do that I'll block up one of them to get it off the ground.

Set out live trap for the groundhog yesterday baited with some cantaloup. It tripped the trap but was not captured. Took the trap over to the pole barn last night and reset it. Need too check it this morning and see if we got anything.

Just ordered the geo-tex for the approach to the pole barn and the vapor barrier for the slab. Quite a variation ($300/roll) in pricing on the geo-tex between local places for basically the same thing. Think I got a pretty good deal on the vapor barrier as it was the last roll that they had ordered at the old prices. Basically $230 less and 15 mil vs 10 mil.

Additional items on agenda for today:

Consolidate mulch onto one pallet (to recover another pallet)

Unload foam board insulation from van.

Unload plate compactor from van and unpack and service it.

Get scrap loaded in dump trailer if young neighbor shows up, will see if I can round up more before he gets here.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday ... (y)

Morning all, going up to 81, going to Terhune Orchard in NJ as the wife wants cider donuts.
Yesterday was day job and catching up on emails, not much free time to go out and check the yard and pool, so need to do that now.
Tomorrow will see if lawn needs mowing etc.

Off to check the garden and see if any tomatoes survived, Birds quite happy they have so many figs to choose from.

Got an invite to a neighbors bonfire, house built around 1700 on 27 acres, might stop by and say hello.

Received the invite to my friends daughters wedding for December in LI, NY. Should be fun and will stay at my brothers new house on the south shore of LI

Good morning 58 going to 80 today very nice weather
Did some walking this morning 6000 steps closing in on the 10000 goal. Will do some weight training for shoulders and arms and push ups.

Pulled out the Honda inverter generator to run it but it would not start. Checked the ignition with the spark tester, was ok. Did some more pulls and it started. Ran for 45 mins and put it away. Need to run it more often to make sure it is ready when needed. Also will check the other engines on saws etc. The engines on the splitter, tiller, and pressure washer all have fuel shut offs so they are run dry when put away.
Propane tank was finally fixed yesterday.
Watching the squirrels play sitting on the balcony. They have a lot fun running up and down the big pecan tree

Good morning to all! Low of 50°, going up to 82°. No chances of rain over the weekend, but Tuesday/ Wednesday has another batch of monsoon moisture coming in. Hopefully we'll get some rain out of the system. The weather guessers are unsure of where it will actually track. Temps won't be bad all week, upper 70's to low 80's.

Jeep is done, waiting for the daughter to come down from Colorado to pick it up. Our car got a quick touch-up detail yesterday, now just need to do the truck. That will be a longer job, plenty of dirt /dust in the cab.

Need to get the truck cleaned..... I might trade it in. Been working with a dealer on a new Toyota Tundra. One of the last affordable trucks with an 8' bed behind a double cab. The standard features check off all the boxes, only a couple accessories to add.... only $1000 worth (floor mats, bed mat, running boards). Total for the truck is only $42k..... not bad for a full size 4x4. Could take 4-8 months to come in.

Today's agenda might include some shop time. Wifey would like a few shelves in a couple of cabinets and her baker's hoosier cabinet. Might do them first, them maybe get to the truck cleaning. Need to get the drip irrigation started up today.

M7040, I'm sure you are one proud papa! Your daughter should be proud too!

Kyle, hope you're able to stay ahead of the work load.... I guess it's better to be busy than bored at work......

Don, those date plants look really good! How long have they been growing? Have fun out on the trail blazing.

PJ, hope you are able to get in some kayaking with the wifey!

Dennis, hope you're able to find an acceptable lot. Those prices south of Roanoke sound very reasonable. 5 acres for $29K.... that's better than out here!

Thomas, glad the critters are still coming to entertain.... word is spreading about the good treats available.

Everyone have a great day!
