80F and partly cloudy @ 12:15, HI 82F. Heading up to a high of around 84F for the day.
Got the 10 "King Kong" bare root strawberries potted first thing yesterday. Have 25 EarliGlo I need to do today, along with the 2 "Mixed" Peonies which will get directly planted in the ground if I can find a place to shoehorn them in.
Have gotten The Woman to start opening the garage door first thing in the morning so that plants in pots in the garage are getting more light before they get set out for the day.
Also updated the list of day lilies and added the new ones that are still in pots. Looking at the flower bed, it looks we may have only lost one over the winter and it looks like there is one that is popping up since we started watering.
Spent a good part of the day sorting out bills and paperwork though.
Think I have managed to locate all the relevant paperwork for the mulch I'm still owed, which I take to be 20 bags - not the 13 Menards is claiming. Whether I can explain it to someone at the front desk so they understand it remains to be seen however, due to the goofy way they handled it initially.
Went ahead and placed another order for a couple of items - a couple of fittings for the new hose set up on the Water Buffalo, the saucer for the bottom of the big pot for the banana tree - and an additional 20 bags of mulch. A second Japanese Beetle trap was been authorized ... but I forgot to add it to the order.
Got some mowing done down here around the house, but still a ways to go to complete that.
Watered most of the summer squash in the flower bed and in back of the frog pond, also day lilies and peonies. Summer squash there are now starting to green up.
Agenda for today:
Start one planting the rest of the strawberries.
Finish up spraying expanded garden area glyphosate ... if the wind ever lets up (forecast says that's not looking too good: 10 - 20 mph)
String trim along electric fence line.
Change out bag on Japanese Beetle trap which is probably packed at this point.
Grab a dump cart load of screened compost to fill in on the end garden area so one of the big tomato plants can be planted.
Liberate the 2' tall cage around the west peach tree so that it can be used to plant another bell pepper plant.
Finish assembling the two 4' tall cages.
Finish mowing down here around house.
Make run to Menards to pick up order.
Probably grab another 3 gallons of gas for the Cub while I'm out.
Maybe work on installing new hose on Water Buffalo one I pick up the parts.
That's the plan anyways.
Hope everyone has a pleasant and enjoyable weekend ...
