Don, I think we all guessed you were on a cruise...glad you had good weather...hope the meals were up to your quality.
I was hoping for rain. My rain gauge here is so dusty, I'm forgetting what rain smelled like. I had 2 good books.
My neighbor says June so far has had only 1 day under 100˚. I think I counted three. Currently 6:15 P.M. 100˚. Looking forward to cooler temps next week - mid 90s.

"Royal Caribbean has implemented a special vegan menu each night in the Main Dining Room. This makes it extremely easy for vegans to find a dish that works for them. There are usually two appetizers, one soup, two entrees, and one dessert to choose from on the vegan menu."

They were lots of good vegan options, this web site is pretty accurate for the menu in the main dining room and the buffets:

Everyone still needs to show proof of vaccination before you get your boarding pass. Also a negative covid test two days before sailing is required to board. The mandatory face masks are gone and I only saw a handful wearing a mask, however all of the crew is still required to wear masks. The new mandatory emergency procedure (in case you sink) is on an app and before sailing you have to find your muster station and get "checked off". They are very strict on this and will call out your name on the intercom if they are waiting for you to finish it before sailing.

The self service buffet is back. Needless to say we were washing our hands a lot. The ship is still in the "orange" area which means .03% do get covid which is about 7 people. We were on RC's oldest ship, a small one it was nice that all the places we frequent on board were within 4 decks up or down.

Galveston is building a new RC cruise Terminal and next year the Oasis class ship will be here!

LS, have you met the new neighbors?
Only in passing, they were outside and we introduced ourselves to each other. Other than that, don't even know they are there, very quiet.

The landscaping is getting overgrown, haven't seen them doing anything with it..... there are a couple trees that have lost half their leaves.... I don't think the drip has been turned on in a couple months.

My assumption is that they were /are city folks, used to having a "zeroscape" (xeriscape). There have been 3 other couples / families that I have seen move out here, stay a year, and head back to 'civilization'. Time will tell......

Only got an 1/8" of rain from all that noise. We were under the edge of the storm, just looked on WU, some areas 5-10 miles away got an inch. We are still slated for rain showers overnight and through Monday. High temp tomorrow is forecasted to be only 68°.

The temp now is 57°. I'll take it!

Philly cheesesteaks turned out great even though I over-toasted my roll. That was the last of the meat, so a restock is in order.

BEF, are the kitty's chasing each other through / around / over the tube?

Going to watch some PBS now...

.

Do they ever, and jumping on it when the other is inside, ambush when they come out. Their favorite toy. .

Diner was good. Long trip, over an hour away, but part of the date was just to drive thru the country. I had BBQ brisket, mashed potatoes and gravy, onion ring, and strawberry cheesecake for desert.

71F and clear @ 22:15, heading down to a low of 70F overnight.

Moved most of the plants out of the garage first thing so I could get the Cub out.

Then snuck up and got a full dump cart of screened compost. Went to the second pile which hadn't yet been touched. It was in the shade and it was very pleasant, barely even broke a sweat loading it.

On the way back down I swung by the shop and turned on the AC.

After that I watered the plants out front did some clean up from the havoc the 'coons are creating (seems like they want to dig in the pots, pull out the seeds, which they just leave laying there ... ), moved rest of the plants out of the garage, refilled and rebaited chipmunk traps.

Then headed around back and since the heat wasn't too bad I worked on amending the soil in the bed and planting the rest of the Yellow Crookneck squash.

IMG_1794 copy.jpg

Got all except for two planted:

IMG_1796 copy.jpg

Noticed several of them are starting to produce and have fruit so it won't be long now:

IMG_1795 copy.jpg

Several of the Strawberry Crown winter squash have fruited as well.

Following that nephew came by and I sharpened a saw chain for him, left 3 more which I'll do tomorrow.

Then I hooked up the long hose and gave the garden a good watering:

IMG_1797 copy.jpg

Afterwards I collected a dump cart's worth of weeds The Woman had pulled out of the flower bed and took those up and tossed them on the compost pile.

Watered some of the flowers when I came back down.

Wasn't too long after that She arrived bearing pulled pork, potato salad, and Mac and cheese from the Rib Guy (he was out of ribs) which was very tasty - particularly the potato salad which I think had bacon in it, which is something I've never had fixed that way.

After dinner we got some Canna or Calla lilies potted which The Woman was given today and took a walk around back to review what I had done.

She says we are "making progress" ... ;)

Was putting things away when Rocky and his brother stopped by on their nightly rounds. Decided we should have a little talk about things, unfortunately neither one spoke pepper spray or Ruger.

They seemed a tad upset when they left. Rocky was still whimpering down in the culvert 15 minutes later, a little agitated for some reason.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Good Afternoon everyone

toppop52 - nice to see you back on the forum, and glad that things are improving. patience and time. Still praying for you.

buppies - glad the Mrs. Buppies is improving also, prayers continue

prayers for others also, as I see the needs

mostly_gas - enjoy your day, and bike rides

daugen - a 1958 Pontiac Parisienne - very nice car, and a cool couple with it. Be easy on the neck pain, prayers.

txdon -great photos

wngsprd - yes, it's a fun little car cruise, and as long as the weather is cooperating, the turnout and interest improves. we go weekly from June - early Sept

wngsprd, popgadget, rswyan, buckeyefarmer - I like the photos

popgadget - nice work

LS, Roy J - you've been busy also

Roy J - I never got to the dump today. However, I did empty out the truck, and started to re-load it with garbage, recycling (plastics, paper, glass, refundables) ... not enough to make the trip worthwhile yet, so I'll give it a few days (dump is open for limited hours between Friday - Tuesday, then next week it will be Sat - Tues) I think I will keep adding as there is a canopy on the truck.

LS - I love philly cheesesteaks, but it would take me about 26 hrs to get there (without stopping) :)

buckeyefarmer - I miss having cats, but wife's allergies prevent that. I keep hoping for a barn cat
.
It's been a busy Sat - some guys came by to visit this afternoon, I got some work done after they left, did a burn also, everything else can wait.

Paul’s slat replacement reminds me of an unfinished project. Last year LS restored a bench, cleaned up legs, used rust remover, painted, cut new wood, etc. so it got me started on doing mine.
But all I got done was wire brush the ends. Never got rust remover sprayed, and they sit in the barn gathering spider webs.
One of these days.

Good (Sunday) arvo. The low was 6C but, of course, felt colder due to yesterday & last night's howling wind. There was 2mm in the gauge. The wind has finally eased so that the high got up to 16C.

Church was lovely this morning.

I was busy yesterday with an early start (0730) to Ross for a meeting... and I was hoping to finally score some Eccles Cakes from that particular bakery but, alas, it was closed. After the meeting I got home by 1615 so only had a few minutes to get the firewood in + kindling before the sunset at 1644.

After Tea (and a bottle of Merlot :) ) I fell asleep in my comfy chair. Ah, yes, the dangers of a comfy chair.

That's about it, take care all.
