Apparently forgot to post this last night ... so here it is now:
57F with clear skies, high hit 73.9F for the day ... which is a welcome relief from the 88F we had yesterday. Generally mostly sunny skies today, but we did have a thunderstorm roll through this afternoon. Did not get a whole lot rain with it, mainly just wind.
LWS shows we got 0.16" of rain overnight though, wouldn't be surprised if it was actually more than that.
Not certain where we're at on rainfall, but I have seen some cracks in the ground in a few places so I'm sure we can use it.
Worked to the point of literal exhaustion yesterday ... and then found I could not get to sleep ...
So late start for the day.
Managed to watch a few videos on how to avoid killing off tender seedlings which was good. Surprising in that I could only get the internet to stay connected for a couple of minutes at time ...
Seems better this evening though.
It was too wet to really do much outside, so I headed up to the shop this afternoon for further work on the Kubota and general clean up. But not before I called the local dealer and order a couple of o-rings, a seal, and some grommets. Made some progress.
Found another shovel head up in the shop that needs a handle, so added that to the Menards cart.
Ran down to one of the local pizza joints for dinner: got the hot sausage sandwich (with sauce and Romano baked on) and a garden salad. Turns out Squeak has a taste for Newman's Own Blue Cheese Dressing ... who could have imagined ???
Put the extra bird food that didn't fit the other day into the hopper feeder after dinner, was almost empty.
Was fairly unhappy the other day when I opened the bag of Schultz "Moisture Retaining" Potting Soil (with fertilizer) from Menards. Figured it would be a finely-textured mix that would be suitable for starting seeds in. Not even close. Looked more like something a customer had stuck in the bag and returned for credit (the bag had been opened and was taped shut) Looked like it had a lot of fairly decent-sized chunks of wood mulch in it. Very different from the bag of Miracle-Gro potting soil I picked up for The Woman last year.
Pro-tip for order-pickers working in Customer Service: probably not best to pick an already opened bag for a customer's order if you can avoid it. Just leave it there and let a in-store customer who is picking their own order select it. The company will somehow survive ... even if you don't off-load the already opened product on an unsuspecting customer.
At any rate, I have both perlite and vermiculite here, so I think I'll do a little further experimenting as far as making up my own. Have noticed that using the plastic starter trays seems to pose less of issue than the peat pots as far as things drying up.
Probably going to be a fairly laid back evening tonight, maybe stick a load of wash in the machine, do a little kitchen cleanup (Woman is due to fly back late tomorrow ...

) maybe mess with plants.
Hope everyone had a great day ...
