65F and clear @ 23:15, high hit 88.3F today here and I was feeling it.

Was only a 2% chance of precip today, but 92% chance tomorrow. Probably be raining by dawn, if not before.

Had brief power failure late last night - went off for about a minute and then came back on. Woke up this morning and the UPS, computer, and router were all off. Not sure how I managed to sleep through the alarm on the UPS but I did.

Phone and internet service has been on the fritz for about the last 36 hours as well. Broadband light goes red then starts flashing green indicating the router is trying to nail up a connection to the CO then the phone light turns red. Usually they both reestablish and go solid green but the interruption is annoying as h-e-l-l.

This will probably necessitate a call to Rajneesh @ ATT if it doesn't resolve itself in the next 24 hours.

Often happens after ATT has been working on the lines in the neighborhood: they fix one thing, screw up something else.

Refilled both suet feeders around back first thing. Put out a fresh orange half later in the afternoon for the orioles.

Watered plants front and back, also seedings.

Got four 4 x 4's cut for the Water Buffalo.

Got the last 11 Pink Banana Jumbo squash seeds planted, also another 11 Watham Butternut, another 11 Buttercup, another 18 Zucchini, and another 18 Yellow Crookneck. Still have some Zucchini and Yellow Crookneck seeds left if some do not come up.

All that required making up another 1/2 tote of potting mix.

Gathered up a dump cart load of leaves from the West planting bed and hauled that up to the compost pile.

The big azalea is now in bloom, along with the Lilies of The Valley around it's base:

IMG_1686 copy.jpg

Needs a little clean up.

Three 5 gallon buckets of used cat litter dumped to fill in groundhog holes on east side of house next to foundation. East side mostly done at this point, will now start working on the west side.

Discovered that the one redbud that I thought was dead is actually still alive: the top may have died off but there are a number of watersprouts at the base which are producing new growth and leaves. We'll take it ... (y)

Dug out two embedded branches in the lawn from a maple tree that fell over a couple of years ago.

Hammered in a piece of rebar for the pole for the tube feeders.

Used the cordless string trimmer to cut down all the growth on the west side of the frog pond, still need to clean up all the leaves there and spray it with glyphosate.

Also used the string trimmer on planting area under the maple at the southwest corner of the house and raked up some of the leaves there.

Used the cordless cultivator in the planting bed under the kitchen window where the Orienipet Lilies are planted. Somehow messed up the spacing when I stuck those in the ground last fall, so dug up two and repositioned them. Still have a couple more to do. Hope they survive it.

Have to say, after using the two new cordless tools today, I'm pretty pleased with their performance. Didn't run out of battery on either one.

Just have to go downstairs and move a saw back inside, tarp the radial arm saw, and lock things up and I will call it a day.

Hope everyone had a great Sunday ... (y)

Sunday was good.

Chatted with a friend after Church about his Geo Tracker, as I am looking for some options / upgrades for the '90 GMC Tracker that I bought last week ... 2 dr, automatic, 4x4, soft top. This should be a fun little project.

Watched a bit of Hockey this weekend - all went to game 7s ... Oilers and Flames won :),
Penguins lost :( (cousin had an excellent series against Rangers ... 3 playoff Goals, one was a game winner.)

few errands, but pretty tame weekend.

Good Morning.
It’s 63 with a high in the upper 70’s forecast along with thunderstorms by noon.

Yesterday ended up being an unforecasted nice day, so I got the back tires on the Progressive mower and mowed every where. Swapped mowers for the 90” Landpride 3PT finish mower and did all the small pastures, and finally did all the trimming with the Lazer. Even finished up with string trimmer. Grandson was with me the whole time, he never gets tired of mowing.

Today I’m off to Menominee, MI via Lebanon, NH. Have to overnight there and return tomorrow, so I will miss todays thunderstorms.

good morning all
very warm morning, 63 out now, with heavy rain, thunderstorms and even hail this afternoon.
Glad Popgadget isn't flying in this...but I bet his place looks beautiful after all his mowing.
To mow in a clean a/c cab with one's grandson on your lap? Perfection.

need to start packing clothes today, had to find all my summer stuff again.

RS, had to look up that squash. Look at the size of those pink bananas...

64° this morning going for 91°. I knew the TV news late yesterday showed some showers coming down from the north, but at 4 a.m. this morning I noticed the NWS website showed Denton got about .03" of rain. So I went out, found a big moon shining in clear skies, BUT about .64" of rain in my gauge.

65 going to 84...t-storm earlier his morning, and maybe storms today.

Took the rear tire off the zero to find the leak. Was all ready to plug it when every little tube of rubber cement turned out to be dried up...even raided the box with the wader repair and bicycle repair kits. So will go to town this morning so I can fix and hopefully complete mowing #6 before any thunderstorms.

My wife and I sat outside for about 40 minutes last night watching the lunar eclipse and listening to the owls. It was really nice and no mosquitoes.

59° right now...high in the upper 70's and rain/T-storms. Well, Vermont is in a drought situation, so rain is good

Back to the grind today, even if it is working remotely

62 high in low 80s thunderstorms later

Payers for all

interesting fire risk map

closest thing to here is Pine Barrens in NJ, they are usually good for a big fire due to lightning in dry weather.
Drought in West is going to make this worse there
Much of Northern Texas is dry

Toppop, looks like you have a dry/fire risk area just South of you.
With the exception of the Everglades, problem isn't on East Coast at all

Good morning, low temp is 50 and the high to 59°F. Wind NNW 2 mph. 30% chance of showers.
I was outside this morning, surveying my domain and it is overcast and damp feeling.

I'm off to North Bay to get the channel iron I dropped off for the holes to be punched and get my new glasses. When I get back I will probably cut the grass.

I think I will set up the stock tank on top of the dug well and fill it. It might make a good bird bath/cat teaser.
I don't have to worry about the little orange cat jumping into it, I don't think. Shortly after he got here that same stock tank was in the bathroom as a bath tub and was 3/4 full of water (expecting a hydro outage), the orange kitten was racing around with his brother and jumped into the tank. He hadn't learned that not all verticals have a horizontal on top. He has learned now. :ROFLMAO:

The NEIKO step drill set I bought off amazon came yesterday. It comes with an automatic center punch. $41.oo all in. Looked it up on amazon again yesterday after it got here and the price jumped 30 bux. Now $71.oo + tax, so I just got in under the wire.

BEF, if cats eat too fast they will puke it all back up.

Have a safe day all

Morning all, 64 going up to 79 , more rain.
Still many places I can't even walk they are so wet, so quite a bit of work on hold.

I had a big fight with Burgess yesterday on again not shipping an order,
canceling most of it due to backlog and not letting me know,
or refunding my money.
Disputes open with credit card company. Second time they told me they would be shipping and canceled without notice, did this to me last year too.

Picked up 6 bags of salt for the pool and more mulch for the big garden.

Dad's Hat Rye in Bristol PA-

Stay safe and be well.

The Oriental Pine is looking very happy this year. Planted fall before last.
All that color is new growth and was actually pink when it started.

Good morning! 72˚F heading to the mid 90s, clear skies, South wind. If the grass is dry I will start mowing ASAP. No power interruptions this weekend, EGO batteries are charged and ready. It got as high as 97 here yesterday - normal June Temps.

Later is the partners Hand and Foot (Canasta) tournament. The response was overwhelming and we will have more tables than card shufflers. Some members are bringing their home shufflers. There will be 13 tables. I got the best partner - my wife, and we are hoping to get the prize money. Since the entry fee was $1 a person there will be $52 to split between first and second place.

I had a big fight with Burgess yesterday on again not shipping an order,

Ken, I had forgotten how bad they were. I still haven't gotten my willow trees and now I remember a big hassle I had with them in NC.
I had to cancel a multi hundred dollar order and they sent it anyway, weeks later, I had documented everything, and all the plants died in their shipping bag.
They never replied to anything I sent them.

Burpee has issues too, all of them seem to act like they are hugely understaffed.

landscapers are here weedeating, hustling before the rains come this afternoon.

Don, looks good. What do you normally use as a dressing?

Good morning folks

Foggy start today, some much needed rain last night.
64° now highs in the upper 70’s some showers and thunderstorms later today.

Not a lot going on just yard and garden clean up. Preparing containers, whiskey barrel’s for flowers and veggie planting.
Wife was saying there seems to be more rabbits than usual this year, I told her it was her fault she keeps putting out bait!

last minute trip to garden before rains come in
not happy with weedeater blasting half the lettuce with grass bits, had to
wash everything twice. No one wants lawn in their salad...
This is soft lettuce, I prefer crunchier stuff.

wanted a test run, first cutting of lettuce, cutting at least half of it tomorrow to take on trip.

54°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 81° today.

Wife made it back home from Texas yesterday afternoon. She left Saturday afternoon, and stopped over in Arkansas for the night, then drove the rest on Sunday. I had to help guide her around the line of storms passing through Missouri and Illinois. She only encountered a little rain along the way, and got to enjoy the lightning show from a distance. Those storms just brushed by us, and we got maybe five drops of rain. A video someone posted on Facebook in a neighborhood group showed a funnel forming over Aviston IL, just a few miles to the east of us. I guess that helps explain the intense wind sucking into the storm.

Dogs sure were happy to see her, too.

Not easy getting up and going to work this morning after five days off.

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 7:45AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 86F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Tried to watch the lunar eclipse last night, but there was just enough cloud cover that the moon totally disappeared during the fullest part of the eclipse. Move along, nothing to see here...

Any interesting bear video from the game cam attack, Thomas?

Thanks for passing along that fire report link, Drew. Here's a link to the full report, with detailed maps for each state and a county by county breakdown. My county has a 99% rating, meaning that all of the properties here are at risk for wildfire damage. No surprises there, but I'm sure the insurance companies will use that information to deny coverage and raise rates.

I wasn't a rye whisky fan either, Ken, until an acquaintance treated me to some Whistle Pig during a Death Valley camp out. Unlike the Canadian brands I'd tried, it was smooth with a delicious caramel flavor. I've since found a Basil Hayden rye, and even one from Tim Smith, with similar characteristics.

Got a call from an Amazon delivery driver yesterday afternoon to let me know he was leaving a package at the front gate. Very heavy Indian accent, so at first I was hoping it was someone from StarLink tech support. Odd that he bothered to call, as the parcel box was available to him but I guess he didn't know what it was for.

Got to get moving if I'm going to get any grass cut before it gets too warm.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start.
