61F and mostly cloudy @ 21:30, heading down to 45F overnight with rain late.

Ended up getting around 3/4 of the front cored, also some done down around the house on the east and west sides. Avoided the wettest parts of the front.

Got both bearings replaced on the left wheel on the dump cart, very tight fit going into the hub.

Put the three rhubarb plants in pots.

Put the cultivator head on the FS 66 Stihl then loaded it up, along with a bunch of implements of destruction plus the rhubarb, in the dump cart and headed around back, set the rhubarb out and watered them.

Also took back the Irish Spring soap shavings and sprinkled those in the hosta around the crabapple trees the deer have been munching the tops off of:

Then started tilling up the previous garden area which was starting to get a little weedy:

Got it around half done but forgot to take a picture when I quit. Russian sage plant is starting to come back.

I did also do a little work on the irises that had been pulled up. Think I got the ones that been pulled up all replanted. Near as I can tell there was only one that was completely MIA.

After dinner I made an emergency run to the pet store for some Cat-Lax (they now have tuna and catnip flavors)

About to go unload the dump cart and see what I have left in the way of pots, maybe pot some stuff.

Hope everyone had a great Friday ... (y)

Wagtail, do you have bandicoots down there. They are very active here at present digging holes in my lawn every night lately.
They're a rare sight but, yes. I've only seen one (at the bottom of my driveway) and that was at night, years ago. Evidence of them being around depends on the grubs that they're digging for... little conical holes.

A low of 11C over night and a high of 16.2C at the moment, which I think will be it. Light drizzle and pretty much calm.

A day of 'rest', I believe.

Take care all!

I use 3 ft wide, and put it between the rows. I reused it 3 yrs now, but edges starting to unravel.
I used to use landscape fabric, but it got to be so cheaply made the weeds and grass grew thru it.

Agfabric 3x330ft Landscape Ground Cover Heavy PP Woven Weed Barrier,Soil Erosion Control and UV stabilized, Plastic Mulch Weed Block https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZTUJP16/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_720C46XZ8277FG6XVA54

Thanks - that was the info I was looking for ... (y)

I've just come back from setting up a horse water trough in my back paddock (#6) and noticed all sorts of bandicoot holes.

It must be 'that time of the year', I guess.

Wagtail, I put out my 3 trailcams to capture them but the dew overcame the lenses so I got no results. I'll try again. We don't really want them around the house as they can carry ticks and we have 4 little dogs.

Well, after 3 1/2 hours work I managed to fit the security door with only a couple of ouch's and oop's. Very happy that I managed it but it was 2 1/2 man job so it was a struggle. Plenty of wood and chisel work but it looks good and it opens and shuts. :)
Now the rest of the day is all mine. Been up for 14 hours already and still not tired.
My stepsons girlfriend told me she was going to drag me to the Dr by my ear. I told her that I thought that might be fun.
Hope you blokes are all fit as fiddles and enjoying your Easter break.

In the almost 10 years that I've actually lived here at "Wagtail Park" (I was an Evil Landlord whilst serving in the Navy), I've only ever found one (1) tick and that was on the chest of a horse after first moving here. No fleas. I've got a cat and she's free-roaming and never encountered anything. Neither have the horses since that singular occurrence.

Recently my neighbour across the road has introduced a flock of Guineafowl (18 of'em) who freely wander around his and my property... he did ask if I minded and I said that they're fine (amusing too). They'll eat any ticks that might be out there.

We only have 3 guinea fowl left out of around 21. They are 18 years old. The females drove us nuts calling out. We only have males left thank goodness. Even so at 18 they still chase each other around for hours on end occasionally. Don't know how they can keep it up.

good morning all
cloudy warm day up to 70 with rain coming in tonight.

The Easter Bunny aka me will be taking two potato planter bags over to niece and nephew, they each get a bag and can see how many
potatoes come up. I also found my old HP financial calculator I no longer use and am giving it to nephew to have fun with. His father is a CFP like me and knows how to use it, and his
grandfather is a CPA. So...thought it would be fun for him to learn with his dad and grandfather. If you invest this dollar today and get 4 percent interest, how long will it take to double your money? Just have to push the buttons with the funny acronyms in the right order... I put some new batteries in it and think he will have fun with it. Something to get him off his Ipad.
Calculator has been sitting in drawer for almost ten years, today you can google just about any calculation online.

Today I thin out the radishes. Maybe do a little more waxing on the car.
Ordered a wax buffer per many suggestions, and some replacement polishing bonnets.

all my daffodils finally came up and I see some hosta popping back up. It got pretty chewed on last year, might have to put a little fence around it.
I like that idea of ground up Irish Spring. Irish Spring and hanging old CDs, a staple of many gardens.

not sure if I'm going to put solar electric fence around front gardens. Not that attractive, trying to stick with deer resistant perennials.
Hope you all have a great weekend
