Just settling in after a 4 hour snowmobile ride. Newark to Island Pond and spaces in between. Hope this isn't the end of the season, snowfall hasn't been the greatest the last few years. 8+/- " of fluffy powder on top of ice wasn''t the ride I was hoping for, but sunny and warm 14* with mountain views all around, can't ask for much more...
I've never been on a snowmobile...really not much interest...love watching snow and enjoy snow blowing in a cab tractor, but being cold and wet/damp at my age isn't much fun anymore...
Is powder snow or wet snow a better ride?

Left before light to go Old Rag...talked with one family who started on the trail at 5am. They had a 6 year old daughter who was a real trooper. First time I've ever had someone pull a 5th of rye whiskey from his coat pocket and offer me a swig...it was only 9am and only about a third of the bottle left...I guess he was sharing with his friend since his wife and daughter were hiking ahead of him about 100 yards.

Went over the drive and walks...still enough snow to use the tractor and walk-behind snow blowers
The self-propelled EGO snow blower in in the truck's bed. At ~150 lbs. (65kg) and being a bit awkward, it's not a one person job lifting it out...wish I had 6' ramps. I left a message for my neighbor to come help...no response yet, so he's probably working some OT
I need to charge the batteries and read the manual...also, register the warranties for the snow blower, batteries, and charger.
I purchased a set of aluminum bifold ramps probably 25 years ago after purchasing a 4 wheeler. I later sold the wheeler but kept the ramps.

I've had people try to snag them before saying I don't have any use for them. I quickly put the stop to that.

25 years later they are still in the garage. They haven't gotten used much. But they do get used when the need arises, and I'm very thankful that I held onto them on those occasions.

Did my first trial of the EGO snow blower...only about 20 feet in about 10" (or so) of snow.
Works as advertised and, for our purposes, should be a worthy addition to our snow clearing tools.
Probably overkill for most of our work, but better a little extra than not enough

Primary reason I bought this was my heart...ain't working as well as it used to (welcome to old age). Using the single-stage non-self propelled blower was getting my ticker racing after15-20 feet...not fun and you older guys know what I'm writing about.

Not sure what I'll do with the little snow blower...light snows (3-5 inches of powder), it would work fine and not stress me. We'll see...

19°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 34° today. We've had a fair amount of sunshine today, and it's melting a lot of the ice from earlier in the week. The concrete pad in front of the garage has cleared itself.

Got oil changed in my car this morning, and picked up a new (used) bass speaker cabinet, which I'm planning to modify into a powered cabinet for use in my studio.

Hope you can stay dry and powered, Doug.

Sorry about your friend, Paul.

Powder on top of ice, not much control. In "normal" conditions, powder, less effort to steer.
I will say that powder is better also when snow blowing. I have a walk behind and it's pretty much effortless.

up to 40°. Cool in the breeze.

Cleared a whole lot more stuff out of the shed, but only filled 1 trash bag full. I left a bunch sitting outside. Why did I ever keep this crap.

Found 18 more gallons of old oil buried under stuff on the other side of the shed. 18. Holy cow.
I’m filling the pickup for another recycle run next week.

I did pull my 6 ft ramps out of shed and moved to barn.

Did get shelving unit out, left it outside for now. It needs a good rain on it.

Sorry about your friend PopG.

Pretty much a couch day. Cold, rainy, damp outside. No baseball game today. Reschedule for tomorrow.
