Good morning!!!!

I have a Crossman variable pump rifle, Classic 2100, max of 800 fps. Not going elephant hunting with it but it’s a fun plinker.
I also have a Gamo 430, it’s 495 fps C02, one of the more powerful inexpensive pistols. I can shoot them sitting on my deck if I wanted to, not so with my 30.06, . 22’s or shotguns. I like the pistol for golf cart exploring.
I love the pcp’s but I’m not spending for one the way I use them.

Started fire in insert, Battery in golf cart charged to 12.67 yesterday, after starting at 11.83V, put it back on charger today for 3 hours and took charger off, voltage check at 12.9 volts. Rode stationary trainer today, then ran heater for an hour to bump up the garage temp to 50ºF. Got nap in, went close by Mexican restaurant, streets not bad.

RS, thanks for a lot of info. I was simply looking for a US Production vs. US Demand graph...clearly we were energy self-sufficient in 2020 but not now.

Understand.

2020 was the first time the US was a net petroleum exporter (at least according the EIA) ... so I guess one could use that to make the case that we were energy "self-sufficient".

But to do that, one would have to ignore the relative make up of what is getting exported vs. what is getting imported ... as well as the fact that we were still in fact importing even then.

In 2020 the US was still a net crude oil importer.

Owing to the US' large refining capacity, some fraction of that crude oil that was imported went back out as exports.

As far as charts for US Demand goes, I'd say US domestic demand is largely inferred - from: US Domestic Production + Imports ... minus any exports.

I'm fine with closing the discussion and hearing more about your rifle.

Good.

Current unit is an old cheapy Crossman - think it might be a Model 760 - looks like this:

Not sure of exact figures, but just read we import 595,000 bbls of oil from Russia,

That figure would probably be per day ... not per year.

From Jan 2021 through Nov 2021 (latest date I saw EIA figures for) the US imported roughly 232,625,000 bbls from Russia, which is an average of 694,482 bbls per day ... for that period.

and the keystone pipeline could have provided 830,000 bbls annually.

Well, in the big scheme of things then, that really doesn't seem like all that much ... ;)

In actual fact though, the amount for Phase IV ("Keystone XL") was probably potentially much more than that:

Around 520,000 barrels per day of oil into Midwest refineries from Phase I and II.

Phase I went online in June 2010.

Phase II went online in February 2011.

And around 700,000 barrels per day to Texas refineries with Phase III (both Phase IIIa and IIIb)

Phase IIIa was opened on January 22, 2014.

Phase IIIb was commissioned in 2016, and online in 2017.

FWIW, I don't know if the numbers above would necessarily be cumulative for Canadian oil (590,000 + 700,000 ≠ 1,290,000 ?) ... just more a matter of what the capacity is, given a particular destination. (Domestically produced US oil is added to the pipeline in Cushing, OK where Phase IIIa starts)

Phases I, II, and III were all completed of course, and only Phase IV was cancelled.

In any event, given the rate at which domestic production has been increasing - and is yet projected to increase still in the coming years - the matter of the Keystone XL pipeline may be non-issue, in terms of the US meeting domestic consumption demands.

Good morning, low temp -4 and the high to 14°F. No wind. Sunny. 'Bout time.

There was some strength in the sun yesterday, the snow that was accumulating on the door to the portable shelter was dripping on my neck as I walked around the bucket. (I back into the shelter every time I park the tractor.)

I need to go to town today and conserve energy the rest of it.

Interesting facts and figures on US oil production.

Have a safe day all

10° right now...high in the upper 20's. Snow tonight...local (Bethel-Lebanon area) is 8-12 inches. (get ready, Thomas!!)
Got diesel yesterday. Off-road (meaning no road taxes in the per gallon prices) was $3.69 a gallon.
Since stepdaughter's car was parked next to the tractor, I'll pump the fuel in the tractor when she goes to work today.

That pretty new EGO snow blower I bought won't be delivered until Saturday...guess it'll miss work this season.
Not really...I'll find a place to give it a workout when I bring it home
