This morning Texas hit the peak demand of 68,881 MW at 8:40 A.M. the grid had 83,000 MW of supply, meaning Texas had a 14,119 MW margin of safety.
This cold snap doesn’t compare to last year’s, though, both with temperatures, the length of the storm and demand. During last year’s freeze, peak demand was 74,000 MW.
Temp now is 30˚F with mostly sunny skies the ice is melting fast. The roads are already clear. With temps rising above freezing this afternoon today will be last day of the ice around here.
